i did prime it. im thinking i should have put either a thicker coat or just a couple more light ones. have not tried it since but want to on a future build sometime to broaden my color options
i was wondering how guys are able to use automotive spray and touchup paint on models. i have tried and all it did was eat up and melt the plastic. any advice on how to avoid this and make it right.
found this on ebay, should be here next week.

well went to do some more work this morning only to find that my fender skirts are not gonna hold. the humidity last night caused the glue to crack and left chips missing from the primer. think im gonna just leave them off and fix what damage was done. still have to wait though because its way to humid to do anything. some parts i primed are still kind of wet. glue wont set right. its just a mess to do anything, definitely dont want to start spraying clear coat on my 49 merc thats for sure.
fingers all good and healed up, im lucky that i heal pretty quickly because i do stuff like that pretty often lol. thanks for the input. Despite the putty work i am enjoying the challenge of getting it all to look good. doing something like this that is new to me is refreshing and plan to do several more builds involving customizing like this.
ok well thanks to hurricane isaac and a new putty im useing i have been able to get much more done.
one of the final rounds of putty, was more difficult to fill in the front fender section than i thought it would be
had to add some filler pieces
got it sanded down and noticed a spot on the front
glued on the fender skirts, little small dimple but should be it then can start fitting the pan.
same situation for me here, have 3 revell ford 427 kits coming and 2 66 mustang fastbacks im trading for. but have my 61 styline, 49 merc all going on right now so its not all that bad.
i will be looking around for a kit to use for the engine before long. want to get my 61 galaxie styline done and finish up my 49 merc. will try to fit in it sometime after those. if anybody has a list of some kits with that engine please let me know so that i can keep an eye out for them.
this reminds me of the three days i spent yanking my 460 engine out of a 66 country squire, was kind of a similar blue too. probably the most aggravating 3 days of my life so far but it was worth it because i am a new distributor away from having that beast running and breathing fire again. will post a video of it running when i get her started.
i like them, there is nothing to them, very easy to work on, pretty straight forward to tear down and rebuild. best designed engine ever in my opinion but i still think you cant beat a good ol' american made big block iron monster.
thats one clean vega. im thinking i might have to run the carbs just out side the hood, dont know how the belt drive would fit, may have to mod that a bit.
i use bright touch automotive primer, cheap and covers very well, can find it at almost all parts stores that sell spray paint. can get it in gray, black, and red.
thats awesome. straight 12? or is that some mammoth wankel? im not sure of the size but there is a kit at my local hobby lobby that has a wankel in it, its 1/25 like the midget racer but i think it still might be a little large. im gunna see if i cant buy one in the near future and find out.
decided to fill in and blend the body lines on the front end. got them filled and 1st round of sanding done and coated with filler primer. sitting in oven now. will start making trunk and hood ledges after primer is dry. finally got a little break in between festivals but am going camping for labor day so trying to get what i can done. may even throw together a quick kit and bring it with me camping. all depends on what TS issac decides to do in the next 24 hours.
i didnt get them today but i did order them, 3 ford 427 kits from model roundup. not sure when ill will get them in.

i go shoot stuff lol, that or work on my big block ford 460 and think of possible vehicles it could one day sit inside, then realize that i probably wont have that vehicle for real so i build a model of it instead.
