  1. found the 2008 mustang. had to literally move and look behind every box on the model isle at hobby lobby to find it but its mine.
  2. well my 1960 starline is on the way. now to just track down the mustang
  3. will keep you posted as i make progress. I ordered the 1960 starline 2 in 1 kit today, still need to make a trip to the hobby shop and purchase the mustang. Hopefully will have all the parts by the middle of next week.
  4. thanks, and that goos to hear. Sometime bad things need to happen for better thing to come along. learned that leason a time or two with a couple of engines i rebuilt that ended up blowing up( kind of literally) when i had them ran on a dyno. Ended up finding better engines and more so ones that i wanted in the 1st place
  5. Here are a couple of pics of mine, just put the final coat of paint on this morning before i left for work.
  6. Well this is my official first custom build. Up until now i have build a model using the supplied directions. For this build i am using the body of a 61 ford galaxie styline reissue by AMT, a 2008 mustang 500KR( for engine and possibly hood) and a 1960 ford starline( for chassis and possible interior. I am thinking about maybe removing the roof at the windsheild line and turning it into a topless with the custom styled front and rear and also modifying the stock style grill to fit into the custom. I realized today when i bought the kit how much body work will need to be done just to attach the custom pieces not to mention the additional mods i want to make. So please be patient with me as i will be taking my time with this build so that i can do as best as i can with my first fully custom build.
  7. nice man, sorry to here about losing your stuff to fire. i am building the same model right now, mine is painted deep pearlesent purple by model master. keeping it just a plain body, no flames or anything just a nice paint job. Still have to wet sand and clear but will be doing that hopefully sometime tomorrow.
  8. thanks all for the help. will check out the videos sometime when i get closer to being ready to actually try casting. Trying to gather the kits i need to build my planned project.
  9. another question would be how do i cast my own resin model. I am wanting to build a AMT 61 ford galaxie styline reissue and plan to modify and change the the hood and to put a chassis and engine in it. I would like to be able to cast the body if it comes out well so that i could make my design available to anybody who finds it attractive and would want one.
  10. ok, so they are pretty much more of a nostalgic collectors item for those wanting a correct body or to reproduce a custom mod they did to another
  11. thanks that helps a lot. So in general a resin model is the better choice for chopping tops and other modifications of the like, in a sense it is basically the model car equivalent to hot rodding.
  12. Well this may be kind of a dumb question but what i resin modeling. I see kits online being marketed as resin body car kits and such but have no idea what is actual meant and what building one entails. Is it just a body and you have to use other kits to get the rest of the parts? Somebody please give me a good breakdown of what resin modeling is and what it is about.
  13. me being from south louisiana i was tought how to cook as soon as i was big enough to stir the pot. i cooked my 1st gumbo at 6 years old and have since added breads, gravies, jamabalya, and other such dishes to my belt.
  14. thanks all, and tom thats actualy funny you say that because my grandfather was a t.v. repair man
  15. the only problem i have with this kit is there is a t-bucket bed and tailgate included but nowhere is it even mentioned in the instructions. I plan to buy a second kit one day and have since figured out how i will attach it. also plan to go with a similiar color paint but with either ghost flames or ghosted spider webs to match the skull shifter.
  16. thanks. Just waiting on a decal sheet because mine was missing when i purchased it. I'm kind of a neat freak when it come to things like modeling. i like to know where eveything is. And yes, the bench has been there since the late 70's when he built the shop, the stereo is mine that i repaired after my dad gave it hell through out his highschool years lol. You just can't beat the sound of the old pioneer systems
  17. thanks. i was very fortunate to be given the space when my grandfather retired. with his shop being right in front of my house, on the same property infact, it is a very nice place to work in. I have plenty of privacy to do my work along with a great stereo and a computer. The bench is very nice because i am able to work on multiple projects at once with out peices of one mixing with the other.
  18. well i know its a little late at night, at least on my end, but hear are the pics i said i would post of my work bench and a couple current projects. enjoy and please let me know what you think, i welcome the input.
  19. first off i am new to the forum but would like to say that the thing(s) that slow me down are being still kind of an amatuer to madel building, a lack of a proper place to paint, limited selection of paints that i currently have and the nearest hobby shop to me is 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic
