  1. nice man. how difficult was it to split the grill piece, ill be doing the same but not sure how its gunna affect the chrome, ill be cutting off the headlights too
  2. to me, being the young guy i am, its a way for my generation and those right above me to get in touch with that nostalgia that we never got to experience like guys did that have been around that time and era. its cool to see what people can imagine and do with a car. some of these are innovations and can be considered rolling pieces of automotive art. much like models it give people a chance to do what they want to a vehicle and not have to worry about if its right or not, its their blank canvas. I love these cars and am always fascinated to see what everybody else has done to their ride and even what vehicles people turn into rat rods. its how some cars can go from total unrestorable clunkers to having a purpose again.
  3. well i was gonna post pics tonight since i was able to sand down the 1st layer of filler, put on the second layer and started to fit and gap the hood and smoothed down the sections where i cut the rear of the roof. sadly i cut my ring finger at the tip kinda bad and had to stop and may be going get stitches once i can see how bad it is. so pics will have to wait until tomorrow. Its coming along good i think considering this is my 1st of this kind of build. Have also got to thinking about whether or not i should put a NOS bottle setup in the trunk or do a custom audio system with a few subs and amps. would like to leave it up to some kind of vote. will defiantly do NOS if i could find some shrunken stickers like there are on a real NOS tank.
  4. i cant remember my old tag and my ps3 i currently dead, will be getting a new hard drive in on monday. and will be making a new tag. but i play mw3, battlefield 3, and thats about all for now, been a while since i played so havnt been able to try out alot of the new games.
  5. nice man, i love the old belly tank rods. way cool rides. cant wait to see more.
  6. i came across these while just looking on hobby towns site. they are pretty close, will still look for that model at hobby lobby. http://www.hobbytown.com/Shop/1/24-1/25-IROC-Chrome-Rims-w/Tires-4pc/
  7. they are not an exact match but i have seen this style of rim before on a model car at hobby lobby, i am going there tomorrow and will gladly take a look to see if i can find it.
  8. i got the 1st layer of filler put on, doors hardened good and was able to sand them down, still have to go back and fill the handles in. the front and rear bumpers still have to harden over night, will sand them sometime late morning and start the 2nd layer, have also started on glueing the engine together. will start painting as soon as i can finish my booth. pics to come as soon as i get some more done with the body work.
  9. looking good man, i just put the 1st of the body filler on my chopped top 61, have it drying in my little hot box( cardboard box with a heater blowing in), hopefully will start sanding tonight. cant wait to see how yours turns out.
  10. man i remember buying model paint and rockets from walmart when i was like 7, i might get lucky and both the ones near me will carry models and paint again. that will give me a good five or six places to buy stuff. i consider myself very lucky to have a hobby lobby, and a hobby town both within 20 minutes of my house then a mom and pop store about 30.
  11. took a while but i feel pretty good about how my 1st attempt at cutting open a trunk and hood and removing a roof. still have to sand down the edges and shape a few things but not bad. got the front and rear bumpers glued on, once its fully cured i will put some body filler on and start sanding. decided to shave and fill the door handles. the thing im not sure on is how to hinge the deck lid and hood so i can open and close them. im thinking maybe a small metal hinge or something like it, i plan to make a support rod to hold the hood up but dont want to to move out of place. how can i solve this?
  12. nice man, love the paint job, wish i could do stuff like that
  13. have also decided to open the trunk, plan to carpet the floors and trunk and place a couple NOS tanks back there.
  14. well turns out my grandfather had a whole bunch of x-acto knifes and saws, so i was able to start work on my project finally. so far i have cut and removed the roof and rear pilars. i am about to start glueing and putting body filler on the rear bumper and possibly try and cut open the hood. will post pics later when i get to a good stopping point for the night.
  15. bart its mailed out. i sent you the glass for the 61 and the rear for the 60 starliner. hope you can use them. i got my 1960 starliner in yesterday and man thats alot of pieces lol, gunna start maybe tonight on it, been waiting for everything to get here
  16. no, just straight up removing the hood and leaving it off, gunna smooth the cuts even with the body line
  17. if you cant find yours let me know, would be glad to donate mine and the other glass minus the windsheild and front quaters
  18. also how well do dremel tools work for cutting styrene. im pretty good with one but im not sure if it would make too much heat and melt the plastic. has anybody had a problem with that?
  19. i already have the mustang for the engine which is what i originaly planned to use, then i came across those the other day and felt like they fit more of what im goin for. i dont mind the cost just want some other opinions on it because i cant choose which one to put. the mustang engine i feel just isnt detailed enough to fit the look the car will hopefully hopefully have, just depends on how well i can do the body work and lay down the paint and all. as for the saw i think ill look into a stand alone being as i have a decent bit of straight cuts to make, will just have to do a bit of shaving with the hobby knife and some sanding, which would already have to do
  20. thanks. One thing i have been thinking of instead of a modern mustang engine, im looking at putting a detailed aftermarket engine from detail master. http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=367e2170e5f0726d19a7d6d97cc7b987&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=detailmaster&Product_Code=RGE-308&Category_Code=RGE http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=367e2170e5f0726d19a7d6d97cc7b987&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=detailmaster&Product_Code=RGE-312&Category_Code=RGE http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=367e2170e5f0726d19a7d6d97cc7b987&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=detailmaster&Product_Code=RGE-403&Category_Code=RGE http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=367e2170e5f0726d19a7d6d97cc7b987&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=detailmaster&Product_Code=RGE-604&Category_Code=RGE what do yall think. the other other motor is cool but these are bitchin', please excuse the phrase lol
  21. nice man, love the referance pic. im doing a very similiar project. i am using the same models but with the addition of a 2008 mustang 500 KR. Im removing the roof entirely and plan to put the mustang engine into the galaxie and graff the hood of the mustang onto the hood of one of the other 2 cars. How hard was it to fit the starliner pan into the galaxie?
  22. two out of three, waiting on the my starliner to get here hopefully sometime this week. for now im gunna start to see how the hood will fit and possible start working on some of the body work. the parts pile is growing, from what i hear that starliner 2-in-1 has a boat load of parts, cant wait to find out. Also can somebody tell me whats the best way to cut and remove parts from a model such as the roof and hood on my styline. I know i could take the time to score the parts until i cut through but want to know if i could use a fine tooth saw like for balsa wood plane models and such.
  23. well finished it up last night, was busy with some things so didnt have time for pics. i decided to leave off the front fenders and i think it looks sharp. hope yall like it.
  24. thanks all, i plan to finish it up tonight while i wait for the paint to dry on my paint booth im building.
  25. i know i am a little far along with the build but here are some pics of my 1/8 t-bucket. all that i have left is to glue up the windsheild, attach the license plate, and possibly put on the front fenders. havent decided if i want them on or not yet.
