Hi, Googling for ideas and thought, why not ask the experts? I'm looking for names of TV shows about cars. Think Overhauling, Monster Garage... I can't think of others.... Also, looking for pics of sweet garage space, back alleys, lots...for 'photo background diorama' inspiration. Thank you for the conversation. Scott -

What a great article. Just read through it all. Really anxious to build this kit now. Thank you. -
Very nice man. You killed this one.

Guys, there must be aftermarket wheels and tires that would help to build this...fooser? I just took a quick look at elmcityhobbies, and Scott has several low profile looking sets.. Wouldn't something like that work? Must be brakes too for that matter. And i know we shouldn't have to resort to AM... -

Wow. What a thread...what a build..what a finish. This is so inspiring man. Detail, detail, detail. Congratulations. -
This is fantastic. The paint is great and the engine simply rocks. I hope to achieve that level of detail someday. Impressive.

Thanks Niko. That makes perfect sense. Thank you for the tip! Again, great build.

I have to ask...how did you go the burnt rubber?
-
WOW! This is gorgeous! That engine...man - very, awesome. I'm about to start this kit and this build has really inspired me.

Shannon, that first pic...I was thinking...cool tank. Then the next revealed a car. Very cool! Curtis, thank you sir. Derrick, same to you. Appreciate it. +++ Well another couple of hours at the bench tonight. Last night, honestly, was one of those nights when things just seem to go badly. Not sure why...just 2nd guessing my 'order of operations'. I usually get that way on the first 'paint day'... Tonight though...pure fun. Here's where she's at. Lots left to do. Kinda regret gluing everything up...hard to paint. I might have to pop off the battery to detail and wire that. We'll see. -

Tonight I got about 4 hours of bench time. Here are the results. First, a base of rusty brown: Then I painted the rear fins a white/flat aluminum mix: Salt was next, followed by red on the bars, black on the frame, and a mid grey everywhere else: After: Decals, designed and printed this afternoon.....at...work: Couldn't resist trying to get one of them on tonight: Obviously still a ton to do. I think I'll go back in with red and sponge the frame. Same for the engine and other 'chrome' parts. The rest of the painting will have to be by brush and try to get different shades of aluminum on the bars and rods. ONE QUESTION: What color should I paint the rotors? Thanks guys! -
That is really, really cool.

Here's the obligatory primer shot. Main assembly at least. -

Thanks. Here's a final minor update before primer. Decided to scratch a 'headlight' for this thing. What a chore...trying to simulate a halogen shop light. Inside is lined with metallic tape, and a large diameter fiber optic used for the bulb. Once the paints on, and the mask is off, should look decent. -

Hopefully over this long weekend I'll get started - looking forward to chipping and rusting. The build is complete with the exception of PE seatbelts...still waiting on those to arrive, but I can start to paint nonetheless. -

Pics are always nice. Glad to hear your computer problems are rectified - hate it when I crash. Your build sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to photos. -

A bit more for tonight. What a fun build! Couldn't live with the wonky hinges so I fixed em. This thing would have to be fly-worthy after all. Then with Aves Apoxy I patched the front tire. You can also see my attempt at weld here as well (union of roll cage)....but it's too large so I took it off. I'll try again when I'm not falling asleep (good excuse at least) Again with Aves I made a seat pocket. This will be fairly hidden, but I'll make a scale LIFE magazine or something (with a Zombie on the cover of course) Gonna call this done pretty darn soon and primer....just waiting on some PE buckles for belts to arrive. -

Thanks Derrick! Been chatting about this build at SMA and found the 'real' fins too perfect. The vision to depict a backyard mechanic 'hack' build was shared and therefore I swapped out the fins for something more like a sign material sheet metal. (and the roll cage is from an old, rusted out, abandoned swing set) -

Thanks Doc. Just a few more details to scratch. First, dude will need something to light those Jerry Can Cocktails. I'm thinking a torch. Radio, antenna and headset is next...then I should be able to get some primer on this.
