i wasnt in on the restoration....if you ccan call it that. It looks good in the pic, but it needs alot of body work, but she runs like a top! Heres a short video. This video isnt much on the truck but it's some good listening material! Theres two more videos on YouTube, just search 1960 Autocar DC75t. https://youtu.be/4jLQ_GXaAeg -

They are still allowed on the road, u can even operate them. Heres my brothers Acar, it weighs 13500 so it has a regular weighted tag and anyone with a class c can drive it! -

On the subject of big horses and great fuel mileage, remember this. You have 40 tons you are trying to push down the road with 250 horses constantly screaming just to run 62 mph. Then you have the same 40 tons with 600+ horses just putting at 70, which one do u think will get better mileage? Sometimes more horses means you dont work the engine as hard, in turn using less fuel... -

Carolina Mack B-67
guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Im sad to say i set too high of a bar formyself after the Paystar....its my personal favorite of my builds. Being that the mack is resin and my first resin, i probably wont be slicing the doors open due to lack of detail on the interior. Thats my only real complaint on AITM's stuff, the interior is lacking, but im not complaining cuz you cant get the subject matter anywhere else! -
This truck will be sort of a tribute to my grandfather and a few of his brothers. While my grandfather never drove for Carolina, his younger brother did. Carolina had a terminal in my hometown and when they sold out to ABF (the company my grandfather drove for), they moved into Carolina's larger terminal which was less than half a mile away. Anyway, just a little history! This is an AITM cab, i will be using the drivetrain from the dm600 as well as some other odds and ends. The frame will be a used one from the cruiseliner kit and with that goes a huge shout out to Dave Chivers (doobie) for sending me the frame. The frame isnt pictured because its still making its way across the big pond!

Speaking of Detroit's
guitarsam326 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ive never had the privilege of working on or driving an old Detroit, but i have been told that if you lugg it, you can blow it up. As far as the crankcase pressure, it all comes down to who services it, if it gets clogged, it wont work, and it will find a way out elsewhere. -

i wonder if its because they built up too much crankcase pressure? -

Very nice job on everything! I have two questions. Did you paint the engine with a steel color before the yellow and then chip the yellow away for the worn areas or did you dry brush the srell colir on afterwards? Second, what did you use for chain on the oil fill cap? -
White 7400
guitarsam326 replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Its a compliment well deserved in my opinion. I struggle with colors myself, i dont have enough imagination! My favorite of your builds is the 68 freightliner....best one i have ever seen! -

The Duel Project
guitarsam326 replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
awesome, i couldnt find a good pic of how the fuel lines ran, so i figured they were internal like the c series cats. I havent had the pleasure of working on an old detroit yet. -

Please someone correct me if i am wrong, but there are no fuel lines to each injector, fuel is fed to the injectors via passages in the head, there would be two fuel lines coming out of the fuel filter, one to each head. Everything looks great so far, this is one of my favorite movies and definitely my favorite peterbilt, i have plans to build a few myself! -
you missed my point totally...

So IF, and that is a big fat IF a model manufacturer were to produce an old truck that has never been produced before, does that mean it isnt new or doesnt have the right to be called new? This junk can be talked to death and everyone has their own opinion but i see no reason for blasting out against reissued kits or anyone who enjoys those reissued "obscure" kits. If this site contains casual truck builders and there are better sites out there, then why troll this site?
-
All that is well and good, i dont expect new old truck kits, never said i did, i said i was happy to see the old kits reissued and i have a ton of resin so that problem is solved too.
-
because i build older trucks, like i stated...
-
Well Said! I have some moebius kits, just not big rigs because i dont like modern trucks, im just not that into them, especially the aerodynamically styled trucks lime the prostar and lonestar, and i am in no way a casual truck builder, thats basically all i build, old iron's what flips my trigger so i for one am ecstatic about round 2's reissues.
