i donno, i am 24 and very much appreciate the old cars and technology, i look at it as a bigger variety to my choices, i mean all these kids i consider my peers know nothing better than their leased altimas maximas and accords, or in some cases bmw 5 series but i dont know many rich ppl! Its all about knowing it all and how it was and what from then reflects on the parts now. Also speaking about auto parts business, as long as you stay away from Autozone ( which honestly needs to be destroyed! horrible company!) you should be good. I worked in autozone as a delivery driver september and october, and i had to quit. They treat customers like utter garbage, often sneaking in some sort of grease packets into their purchase without them asking for it! i mean what the! They focus a lot more on you tugging in your shirt or the way your name tag hangs or the color of your socks than the real stuff like helping people with cars, talking about various car parts and things of this matter. The commercial manager who was dispatching my devilries, was a total tool. I mean the guy sat all day in that desk waiting on calls and just buried in his cell phone if no calls were coming. He often made me do awful tasks such as cleaning bathrooms or buying the management lunch or drinks. I used to design and build people outdoor kitchens and grills at home depot, and now this? I still suffered through it and just did my job but then i got into a literal fight with the commercial manager when i called him a lazy sob for sitting at desk all day and telling me i don't make deliveries on time when i met each quota by 15-10 minutes before. Total idiot. He proceeded to threaten me that he will find where i live and his boys are going to wreck my car and spray paint my apt door... that was it for me. I called Autozones regional managers, HR's and even got to speak to bill rhodes. All of them 0 help and totally corporate brain washed. DO NOT BUY FROM AUTOZONE!

Cant forget Johnny Paycheck, Charlie Feathers. As for little big town, when driving through virginia or carolinas almost every station will play a song by them like tornado, boondocks or pontoon. The Brunette is def my choice

Amazing how time slips by....

Here is some pics for ya from a GAZ 21 which is owned by a collector here, these pics are right next to my building here in Brooklyn, this guy really loves his Volga and he is not even Russian! Just an american guy with the appreciation. Notice the Hood ornament, only 1st and 2nd edition cars received the ornament, the 3rd and most produced edition did not. -

wow thank you again for all the info, i just really love that car's style and elegance, it looks right and doesn't look childish, goofy or PLASTIC! For an average budget of 5000 i think that would be a win. It is a shame to see many donks/hoopties and i don't even know what being made from this car, boomboxes on wheels i assume. Being 24 people look at me like a total moron when i say that the black on black four door ford galaxie looks way more badass than their typical leased maxima or sonata. I don't know where the craze for the cars of these years started, but it was probably when i was like 5 years old, back living in Russia still, my grandfather owned and preserved his gaz 24 Volga with great pride, the car still being in mint rustles condition now after 43 years, unfortunately my grandfather has passed and i recieved the vehicle, which is in a garage back there. IT was that pride of ownership, care and the hours he spent waxing and detailing the car ( mind you in soviet and post ussr collapse times), a trait of car owners that you just dont see much today, simply because our cars look too plain to even care about that way. i do not have the space or money to import it here, but i certainly will make sure this soviet classic will be in a collection display one day... grandad would be proud. Well i guess from that on i only really liked cars that had shiny parts ( being a kid and all) and with chrome bumpers and metal push button door handles, i mean seriously nothing beats the metal push button door handles today, nothing! Get out of here with that key less entry push button start! i want a chrome lock! Here is a car my grandfather owned: -
They are a decent Czech brand http://www.smer.cz/toys-and-models/cars i wouldnt mind some of those, the thing with eastern european models is that they often do come simple, crude and with a lot of that molding fuzz and such, sometimes parts may not even align properly, but thats the gem and challenge of those kits, i built plenty of the icm, amodel and eastern express aircraft and man, that was a challenge and the windshield canopy often came clouded and scratched as it just gets thrown in the box with no baggie or anything.

i often krylon chrome the front/back bumpers and wheels, since they would probably take too much bmf and effort to be done right that way. I am guessing the models have some age too since they chrome is flaking? I guess time for a restoration round!

Taking forever for brush paint to dry!
Nxr replied to Speedfreak's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
from my experience almost any silver or chrome like paint for models by testors or model master or even krylon seems to never really fully dry, ever and if you touch it a lot it just becomes gray and nasty, seems like if you press hard on the paint even after 10 days you can still create a nasty print, so i just try to not even touch those parts with hands. -

Thank you for all the info! I appreciate it because i look for very affordable cars to repair such as the caprice, the generation before 1976 is great but huge and bulky and the 1991+ is often destroyed by 1990's police and nyc cabs around here. A bit more personal use impalas and caprice classics in the 80s i believe. The two door would be a gem, two door caprice classics from like 82-90 are awesome ( not sure what years they made the coupe) the 1989/90 cars come with fuel injection? Also of course i wouldn't cut anything for some ridiculous speakers, just a plain pioneer or bose setup would work i think, seems like an easy car to work with wires. And no no! no big wheels! ahhh! i would very much prefer spoked classic rims with white walls or gold walls , i see these cars for around 2000-3000$, i might go ahead and get one very soon. -

had to sell my 2005 ford escape for an offer i couldn't refuse, thinking about looking for an 85-89 caprice classic and put some speakers and an aux audio system, are those decent cars? I just cant bring myself to buy another plastic box again -
Model die cast car store in Saint Petersburg Russia
Nxr replied to Nxr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man i wish! The soviet ladas such as 2101, 2102, 2103 and 2106 would make great 1/25 model kits if properly detailed ( all basically fiat 124 clones), I have plenty of their 1:43 original made in ussr line, a couple of Chinese reproductions as well but the ussr/russian made cars just smell feel and look better, also break way easier as well but it is a model. The Russian trucks also deserve model kits, some of the best trucks out in that part of the world like Kamaz, Maz, Zil, GAZ trucks. The ZIL limo cars, Chaika limo cars as well as GAZ 21 are all sort of Spin offs from USA cars but with slight differences, also would make for great models. I honestly sense a business venture here! Could start a line of russian and eastern bloc model cars, which i for some reason have always liked for their sheer simplicity. The ZAZ 969 cars are often a comedy among Russians and other Eastern Europe countries, but certainly still hold much respect and would also make for great odd model. -
They have certainly were more pissed when they crashed all them chargers! I mean they probably had 68s and 69s and maybe even a 70 in there.

try putting it on bid with a 22$ starter see how it goes, protect yourself with a reserve of 40 if you think users wont be bidding, give it a try.

Promo 61 Monterey 60 Galaxie
Nxr replied to Nxr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here are some more pictures with all the other full size fords i own, i also finally got some BMF to practice this weekend its the ultra bright chrome, i used to paint and mask trimmings on all builds before, about 26+. Slight Glue bomb on the mercs right side... i may have to remove the foil and repaint and re do it all if i cant get that to go away. -
I apologize since there isn't much model cars in this store but a whole lot of die cast cars you rarely see here, i should have taken more pictures next trip will be way more, i just seem to always proceed to buying rather than photographing... enjoy hope you like it a lot of american full size 1 43 cars i plan to get a few soon, they are called neo models http://neoshop.replicars.nl/.

Promo 61 Monterey 60 Galaxie
Nxr replied to Nxr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
would they be okay if they are primed with floquil railroad and then painted with a model master enamel? Well the ford i mean since i will just keep the merc as is, not one scratch on it almost. -There is a noticeable warp on the fords left side but it is very minor, to be honest its fine with me for such a car, the mercury is staying foiled by the person before cause he/she did a great job and i guess in this case will be the only time i will keep the plastic as the paint job, i mean a 61 merc! -
Promo 61 Monterey 60 Galaxie
Nxr replied to Nxr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
but no four doors! i do want all the other early 60s full size fords and mercs now i have quite a few but not all. -
Although not finished or technically under glass, i got these 2 promos on ebay which i believe were never kitted so i really wanted to restore these. I payed about 35$ for both and think its a great deal, cars have perfect glass no breaks no cracks, the monterey seems to have came pre foiled by someone so i will leave it like that unpainted and foiled but will redo the front for detail and add interior detail as well as license plates, the 60 galaxie however will need a full group up restoration ( i am thinking turquoise with white top and white interior), what you guys think are these rare models/promos? Did i get a good deal? I saw some promos sell for over 450$. Thanks for looking. http://i.imgur.com/m1est7R.jpg

i remember one of these but from like 71 in the same color just laying decaying in someones backyard by around nostrand avenue and ave x in brooklyn, this was like 10 years ago though so i am sure its gone now. I felt sad everytime i saw that car and only learned like 5 years later it was an ltd... cool build made me remember this randomly lol, i have a few of these kits and i built one as a high end all black inside and out fleet vehicle with tinted back and secondary door windows, i plan to do another as an nypd car or cali patrol and another one in pastel yellow with side curtains on the back door windows, would be a pretty 70s look since the curtains will have like a floral pattern.

one of the best amt mopar kits along with the 71 charger, very challenging to put those front kingpins with wheels in and keeping them intact during final assembly, i built mine in moulin rouge color about a year ago
