What you think of this price

The power boats are pretty cool, didn't know those existed -

i really really want the 1969-1973 imperial model, i find that car to be the most amazing designed luxury car ever.
-
Okay i never even knew this kit existed until today, while browsing ebay i thought what the heck and typed imperial and saw this as the first result, it was the only one on the website and i could barely find any info on this one, it was about 44$ so i bought it right away, its not here yet but will post pictures of whats inside once it gets here, has anyone ever built this kit? When i google model king i can never find anything about them online whatsoever, wish more kits of this type would exist because Imperials are just so cool, only one i ever saw in real life was as a child in Finland.

Well this is not one of my best builds but this was one tough little car to put together, the new streetburner edition of the revell kit seems to have more fitting issues than my entire collection of amt kits.. Tried my best to make it look as real as possible but not going overboard as this thing nearly drove me nuts! Color is testors green and most of the black colors inside and under are rustoleum flat/semi gloss black, the car has no clear coat. Had quite a lot of issues fitting the wheels on it as they are not from this kit, cragars from a 1970 amt impala kit and i have no idea where i got the rally gt wheels from but found them in the junkyard pile and they seemed like a perfect fit.. not.

I almost always use silver chrome trim for trimmings on cars, krylon chrome for bumpers/wheels and Rustoleum Silver metallic on grills and anything that will need to be taped/handles a lot, never bmfed anything

mom and pop vs. big hobby shop

Anyone been to the Red Caboose on West 45th street in Manhattan? I just made a visit and left with a Concorde model, a few ho scale freight carts and a couple of paints, great place! Friendly service too which is none existent in NYC these days. -
What we really need is a reissue of the mpc 70/71 Cyclone Spoiler kits, i feel like that's one of the most amazing looking muscle cars made yet nobody ever talks about it!

Wonder what happened to the mercury versions

i use very small gauge wire and stretch it perfect straight with 2 pliers and then loop a small circle using a much larger gauge wire.
-
On ebay there is a guy who sells many gauge faces for various cars, what i do is i make photo copies of about 10 of his sets ( which are about 3$ each) and use them on other kits that do not have a specific gauge set made for them, i always keep the originals as the print out copies give the same results with good photo paper, also model car garage sells great gauge sets made out of metal for about 6$

I wish they would outsource the car kits to poland/russia/czech republic/hungary like they do with their plane kits now, not to hate on China but i really hate the new made in China kits I always look for the made in USA kits from both amt and revell, i am very happy to pay the extra dollar for them knowing it was once made by hardworking people in this nation.

Call me ignorant but i only buy US made paints and testors/model master/pollyscale/pactra/floquil is all i use, as well as hardware store paints such as rustoleum, sherwin-williams krylon. The model master acrylics are great for flat and semi gloss finishes and dry almost instantly, not so much for gloss as they just cant compare to their enamel version.

What happened to my paint?
Nxr replied to charlie8575's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That actually looks pretty cool i would keep it -
never had for me, used acetone to strip bad paint jobs maybe did cause some bumps but worked great... The way i do it is i dip a little into a mr clean magic eraser and start removing it, after most is off i take another piece of the magic eraser dipped in paint thinner and remove all the gunks and buildups, i am sure it would dissolve the plastic if you dip the whole thing into it, Kleanstrip products only as well.

Give acetone a try

Use primer on everything in the kit?
Nxr replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Treat every single part, and i mean every single part as if it were a model itself. -
just ruined my paint with clear?
Nxr replied to DrewCfromSC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The crystal clear or even the painters touch clear is good, i never had problems with those at least but lately i have not even been clear coating cars! I had the same experience as you with the testors can over a model i spent 10 or so hours painting the chrome trims ( yes i paint it with masking tape rather than foil because that's just how i like it ) and i had to do everything all over again. Clear coating black color is very difficult and using auto wax works just as well. -
I forgot about down under cars again, you are absolutely correct! The UTE is an awesome car and i personally find the half car half truck concept my all time favorite.
