  1. Here are the new front wheels. Tires are from the parts box. Wheels needed shimmed to fit tightly in to the tires. Here's the frame notched up front w/the A-arms removed. Helps drop it another 2 scale inches or so.
  2. Thanks guys! Dr. Cranky, I'd love to add a driver. Any idea where I could find one? Here are some pics/updates. First are the images of the cuts I made in the frame to take the bow out of it. Then I removed the rear front spring perch. These will get flipped to help lower the rear end. Then I removed the front A-arm assembly from the frame. Here you can see where I undercut it and marked the frame where the edges were so I knew where to notch the frame. Tim
  3. Got some work done w/the frame, it was slightly bowed increasing the ride height. Had to put 2 notches in it in either side and use some Ambroid ProWeld to soften the frame at the cut and a weight to hold it flat. New front wheels ready and modified the front spindles to help lower it. Still need to get it lower. Removed the front rear spring perch. The plan is to flip it to bring the rear springs down more. Pics in the morning. Time to get to bed. Tim
  4. Love these old McLarens and this one is fabulous! Awesome build! And I had the same problem w/that same exact color. Was able to buff it out though. Tim
  5. Nice! And thanks for that bit of info! Never knew that! To add to the review, the problem I found with this cast (but may also be a problem w/the original) are all the little cast pins throughout. For example, on the top side of the rear springs and front lower A-arm assembly, just to name a few locations. I think I remember a few on the intake manifold too. Tim
  6. Thanks. Must have missed that part in the first post.
  7. Do you mean over time or when it dries? I assume the Bondo glazing putty (red) shrinks too? I use both, but haven't really noticing much shrinkage from the glazing putty. Tim
  8. Picked up the AMT repop of the 55 Corvette 2-in-1 kit. I've been wanting to do a vintage racer for a while and decided to do Noel Park's 150mph milestone tribute. Body has had the mold lines smoothed out and applied some Squadron green to the front and rear pan joints. And smoothed out the molded in trim atop the door that usually carries down from the bottom of the windshield and removed the molded on wipers. Got the front suspension temporarily in place to check ride height. Reviews have complained about the 4x4 look the kit has. Verified and needs to be remedied! Working on getting the rear in place and then fixing the ride height. Tim
  9. Is that the old AMT/Italeri LP500S? Looks great! Tim
  10. I don't know if mine are considered Vintage yet. But I'm probably like most of the rest of you. I just keep buying and never get around to building them. Only been building since '86. Tim
  11. Will try to make the meeting! Also want to make the show. Thanks for the post and info! Tim
  12. Count me in. Doing a 1955 Corvette - Tribute to the 150mph milestone record setting Vette. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/10/1955-corvette-tribute-to-milestone.html Tim
  13. Love it! I have a very rough 59 Impala that this gives me inspiration for! Tim
  14. I love those wheels. They remind me of what Foose would use. Currently trying my first attempt at making resin copies of those as I'd like to use them on a few more builds. Love what you've done so far and look forward to seeing more of this one! Tim
  15. Love that button! And Kataranga, love the stepside/flareside! Tim
  16. Just working on this kit now. Debating between replicating #16 (150 MPH Daytona Beach land speed record-white/black) or #55 (Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix-yellow/black). Hard to find detailed pictures of either. And Duntov, love the nickname! My guess is you are a classic Corvette racer/GM engineer fan? Tim
