  1. Okay I don't know where my comments went in trying to quote Harry above? ? I'm with Harry on this one. I like the looks of the louvers too. The chrome fender portholes were also put down here. On most cars they don't look right to me. But, I do like them on just about any Buick, other Riviera.
  2. Lookking at the box art, the thing looks more like a '57 Tbird. Rather than a '56. Looking at the pictures of the model itself, it looks more like a '55. Again, I don't see a continental spare, which is the easiest way to identify a '56.
  3. By the way, did I say that it happen Minnesota? You may still be guilty!
  4. I think smoking monkeys themselves, have been linked to such experiences. That and died banana peels.
  5. Somehow I have a memory of getting a dart stuck in my leg. I don't remember it well. I don't know how it happened or why? And I don't remember any long term consequences.
  6. This I'm not sure I understand. Sears normally sold pretty good stuff. Most under their own house brand names. And the toys shown from their Christmas catalog? I don't see how they would be used in a plumbingless lake cabin, directly?
  7. Another interesting article. It brings up questions. But, answers a lot. They claim the Thunderbird to be a '56. Where is continental spare? And ITC kits I do remember seeing, in the case of the cars, did not look all that good in person. I don't remember them, being as accurate as say, an AMT kit of the same time. I would like to see some of these ITC kits photographed, if anybody still has any. As far the engines, the Visable V8 and posiably the aircraft engine are Renwall. The slant six is Revell. The Phantom Mustang, Monogram. The Bobtail "T" is either Monogram or Lindberg. I'm leaning toward Lindberg on that one. But, I have no idea about the "Turn Crank" chassis shown, or the "Hot Rod" with the engine with visable parts. How good were they? Or how crude were they? The Turn Crank chassis looks pretty crude from the picture. It would be interesting to see better pictures of these items.
  8. Wow! Very cool. Always liked Ray Walston.
  9. Anybody know anything about the "Motorized Thunderbird" or the "Hot Rod's V-8 engine has visable parts"? It would be interesting to see and know more about those two. The "Turn Crank...see it work" sounds interesting too.
  10. I had darts and dart board as a kid. I was 7 or 8 when I got one. Metal points. Not suction cups.
  11. You were able to use the Torino's glass? The rear window worked okay? Other than moving the axle forward a 1/16 of inch, there were no other modifications? No trimming of chassis plate itself? And interior fit okay? Any chance of seeing photos of the chassis?
  12. Matheson, another of my favorite writers. Who's work appeared in Playboy more than once from what I can remember.
  13. There are stories in Playboy? I never noticed.
  14. I know Curt used the custom headlamps from a '50 Ford. But didn't AMT's '57 Fairlane kit offer an optional quad headlamp accessory set up?
  15. I just read the Snow article above. Sad what happened to his daughter. But, I feel there are lots of dangerous things in the world. Both man made and natural. One has to weigh the risks. I don't know how defend my thoughts on this without sounding callus. But again, several things have been banned in the name of safety, that in general use were not bad things. And I think lawn darts are one of those things.
  16. I loved playing with lawn darts. I'm still unhappy that a few stupid people, doing stupid things, got these things banned. As stupid as I was, or in some cases still am, I knew better than to throw lawn dart in the direction or in a way that a person could get hurt or killed. I also was smart enough to stay away from areas where lawn darts might be coming down. It was called common sense. By the way. Why haven't tossing horseshoes been banned. Basically the same idea. I wouldn't want get hit by horseshoe any more than a lawn dart. You can maybe kill somebody a little easier with a lawn dart. But, I'm sure a horseshoe (or a horse) can do some damage if it hits you. Again using common sense, I do not throw horseshoes at people. And I do not where a horseshoe might hit me. (On or off of a horse.) Seems like a simple concept. And you know what? Following those rules, I have never had an accident with either a lawn dart or a horseshoe.
  17. I have not run across that problem with Tamiya.
  18. This one I find bland. Where is the sexy Italian styling I expect in a car like an Alfa?
  19. I don't understand. What is this about?
  20. After watching the two videos above, I now don't just dislike the car. I hate it. In my opinion it's immoral. I will say no more on this subject, other than I will not be viewing anything in this one particular thread again. That does not I disapprove of the posting or viewing the thread. It's just not for me.
  21. Another nice one.
  22. I still don't understand how you do these models. By the way, Ford referred to that body style as 4-door pillared hardtop. Which really makes no sense, since the definition of a hardtop is a solid roof car with no "B" pillar. And all of Ford's pillared hardtops came with a "B" pillar.
  23. Comments good or bad are welcome? I can see nothing bad to comment on. It looks great. Reminds me, I need to build the one I have. About a year ago I bought decals from Keith Marks to do the "A" variation paint scheme.
