Finally got the body together and finished the exhaust. I'll post the finished build in "Under the glass" -
The most i've spent on 1 kit was a Testors 1/12 Lamborghini Countach LP 500S. 1987 it was listed for $150.00, they sold it to me for $120.00 and i had no intention of not building it, i could barely hold composer for the drive home. Oh the smell, never forget it. Because of the rubber they made the tires out of, the kit smelled like a Tire Store. It was incredible.. I still have it and probably never part with it (and it still smells the same)

I for one found this tut very cool and although i probably won't switch completely over to heat welding, i do know that if i'd have used this handy procedure in the past it would have saved me alot of headaches on some mod builds.. Thanks so much Rob, i will remember this one..

Another 1/16 Street Charger build ... altered
pandamonium2112 replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Trade it with me. I built one years ago, then my daughters boyfriend thought it would be fun to push it across the kitchen floor (while i was at work) like it was as tough as a Tonka...It wasn't, He's down the road and the leftover parts are still in a bag waiting for me to get inspired Come to think of it. Both of my daughters boyfriends were the demise of a lot of my old builds.....Hmmmmm -

I like the use of the upside down bottle for dispaly case...Very cool project.. BTW if i did date her, I wouldn't admit it in a public furum LOL -
Someone asked how to paint tiny parts. Here's something i've been doing for years, it's not a new idea but i figured i'd post it anyway.. Here's the items you need, which we all probably have laying around. Cut up some old pieces on spur into 2 inch lengths (or whatever you desire) Cut the head of the straight pin with snips Then you hold the other end with pliars and heat it up with a lighter and push it into the end of the spur. Find aan old piece of Styrafoam and push holes in it with a pencil. Now you can push the sharp end of the pin into the part you want to paint (usually at the glue point) Then you can spray or brush paint, when done, prop the spur in the styrafoam to dry. I made this in about 5 minutes..Hope this helps anyone...

newbie help in paint and misc
pandamonium2112 replied to hardhitter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Alot of times on very small pieces i use a straight pin, find a spot on the part (preferably the glue point) and push a pin in gently with tiny pliars, it doesn't have to go in very far, just enough to hold. You can hold the pin with your fingers or aligator clip. Then i paint, when i'm done, i have a piece of styrafoam close by with little holes pushed in with a pencil, i prop it in the hole till its dry.. Hope this helps.. -
bending plastic strip without heat.
pandamonium2112 replied to Marcus M. Jones's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I agree. Thanks for the tut. I understand all the different angles of the other input and see where other methods could work better in different situations. I have a project that stalled out a while ago because of a frame customizing problem and here is my solution... Thanks for all the input... BTW (i was a sheetrocker for 25 years) the best way to bend drywall is to soak it with water and bend it very slowly till you get the curve you want. It is a major hassle but looks great when it's done... -
