  1. I like the "Styrene Hoarders Reality Show" idea. It would appear that all of us are collecting. I, for one will admit to this. I know that my issue is that i see a kit and get a bunch of ideas on how to build it, so i buy it. But during the build, i find 5 more kits that i just gotta have. Can't build them as fast as i can buy them. And that's how it happens It really is more of a sickness than a hobby. Maybe i'll bring this up with my therapist? Or not!
  2. gray07 You definately have a shelving problem, The sag in the top one gave it away. As for others, i will post a photo of the ones i've uncovered so far. There is several boxes of others on the back burner.. Might as well show you the rest of the cave..
  3. Okay, Lessons learned at this point in time: Master modelers know best. During the sanding process i went through the base coat, it was minimal but still the same. The pearl essence was comprimised. The final project will turn out awsome still but as i have heard from a number of people here. "To finish one project is to see the flaws that will arise in the next" and so i will strive for the next step....
  4. Ok here goes. I used to play "The Sims" (90's) Back then i owned a construction company and i really liked being able to build houses with no limits (Much like modeling) So i came up with an alter ego of the Panda (Cute little cuddley bear) except that my life was in total ruins so, i bore the stage name of "Pandamonium" Total kaos spelled wrong, which was where i felt like i was at the time.... Hence: (Panda monium) The charicture of "Butters" lives in this world all the time...So i relate to him, or he closely resembles my nature...God will decide final outcome!
  5. My start on a polishing setup, a good contact with an old friend and someone at a Auto boby Supply House (kind of cute too).. A few dollars later, i'm upgrading from dull to bling (loosely put) the next step in evolution.."Man must recognize fire wood before he can make a fire"
  6. Thanks, I knew it was possible...Just on slow speeds and lightly..Like i said though, gonna practice on a piece of junk before tryin to polish the wedding cake.. Nice paint scheme Lownslow I've got plans for a low rider in the near future. all the parts, kit and ideas all in place.. You guys have truely been an inspiration for me to get rolling again. Thanks to all of you !
  7. Got the detail painting done (Clear coat tomorrow) and just had to see what it looked like with that motor pocking through..
  8. Alrighty then..The Dremel (Isn't really a dremel) It's a harbor freight grinder with a flexible extension turns on at 100 rpms and is dial adjusted to 10000. It's a riot to play with. I was going to try it out on an old "Oops dropped that one on the floor" build before i lit into a nice project. But with that said. Thanks for all the advise. I am taking this slowly and experimenting with caution..
  9. 3000 was the finest they had and the only hobby store here bites for selection of anything outside of R/C supplys. I think i can make this set up work, especially with the Mc Guires polish and a low RPM Dremel. I've had pretty good luck getting great finishes out of a rattle can so if i can take it up one notch, i'll be happy.
  10. Just got back from a shopping binge. Stopped into an Automotive Paint Supply Co. And came home with an arrsenal to put that glass finish on my builds like you guys are doing. Wish me luck!
  11. I'm really lovin the re-releases that have been popping up. Maybe they are just testing the waters to see if the market is there to dump the money into and hope to get it back. It's been my obsevation that the re-releases are selling well and that there is hope on the horizon for more...
  12. There's a thread in the "Tips and Tricks & Tutorials" titled Let's hear/see your Craft Store findings for our models! It should give you some ideas..That whole section TTT should do the trick..Have fun I forgot a good page, someone posted this link..Really cool stuff..http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/tutorials.htm
  13. I had a hard time with photobucket..I used "Scuderia" advise and used Fotki, Way easier..All photos have to be hosted off site. Use the link on his post to get there and then create your own account. I just got mine up today..
  14. Yeah, youv'e gone mad! But you came up with an awsome idea by doing it. So the insanity will be forgiven! I like that you captured the Tom Daniels "Wild design" to modify a Tom Daniels original. You should post him a photo of it when your done.
  15. This is AWSOME! I always wanted to recreate that mail truck at the begining of the Christmas show "Frosty the Snowman" Anyone remember that? Like a 29 truck with a flat bed, half track on the back and ski's up front..This thing blows my idea out of the water..or snow..Can't wait for the finish.
  16. I like where this ones going. Very creative. Can't wait to see the progress. OH Yeah
  17. Youv'e got some skills already, work looks very nice. This is a good place to learn a few tricks..Folks seem to be pretty nice here too. Keep up the good work and keep posting photos..
  18. I just shot the 5th step of the paint scheme (first air brush project) a pearl essence. My next step is to detail it then shoot some clear over everything before polishing it but i picked up some dust on the last coat and i'm not sure what to do now, The coats are so thin, i'm scared about sanding it for fear of it going through. You can see it right on the front end..
  19. Here is the 11 year project. Sorry for not taking photos from the start of the build, all i have is current progress. I've been trying to upload for 3 days now with no luck, lets see if it works this time..
  20. I have to agree with the "Too Camaro ish" statement. It almost looks like the designers forgot half way through the project that they were working on a Vette. Both cars are stand alone legends. I think it's a bad idea to try and incorporate one cars style to the other one. Sort of like Dodge/Chrysler, they came up with a front end style and they meshed it into all their models. I can see a shopper at the Chevy dealer saying "Yeah, im lokking at buying a Vette" and the sales man shows them the front of this car, 10 minutes later another comes in and want's to buy a Camaro, so the salesman shows them the rear end of the same car..
  21. 2 things on the list for me. 1. Remember more things than i forget. 2. Use my airbrush so much that i can justify buying a nicer one. 3. Uhmmm. I forgot, maybe take out the trash in the morning?
  22. Craft stores are a scary place for me. I find it best to leave check book, credit and debit cards home and only take limited amount of cash, I can find a use for almost anything. But here's a tip i'd like to share. Some of the best gagetry that i have found is in Second hand stores. Old VCR's, Printers, Transistor radios, Tape decks, Old Computors, Watches (wind ups) Kids toys (Tires and rims) Maybe even a scraped half built model.. I'll buy a couple of these for 2-5 bucks, take them apart piece by piece. Odd pieces of thin metal, tiny screws, metal rods, belts, wireing, lights, odd plastic parts. Just let your imagination go, with a little mod work, who knows what you can come up with.
  23. (If you're refering to the 11 year project) ? I haven't been away from plastic for 11 years, just that one project. I ran into some issues with the customizing and couldn't figure out how to get around it, so i boxed it up and waited it out. I was amazed at how fast it went together after the break though.
  24. No, I don't really look like him, Just think he's cool..I have been mistaken for a Bear in the mornings though.
  25. (Stands up and clears throat) Hi, I'm Steve (aka Pandamonium) and i,ve been addicted to plastics since i was 7, i think thats about the age when i put my first kit together? I believe it was an open wheel indy car, this would have been around 69, So old school that the tires were still made out of the same plastic as the kit..I was hooked! i remember the kid up the street was into modeling and a couple of years older than me, but i would hang around him just to catch some of the magic from the kits he was into. I build mostly Muscle cars, a few Pick ups and have tackled at least 5 Semi's with trailers, a couple of airplanes, Also tried (without success) to start and finish the "Cutty Sark" complete with sails. So far i've just been lurking around, reading posts and tips from all of you, many i have found quite helpful. This looks like a pretty fun place to hang out and swap ideas and photos..I believe that i have alot to offer and alot i could learn at the same time. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, If you welcome me to the community.. I just got fired up over a project car i started 11 years ago (69 Vette) deciding it had been long enough..time to finish..Got some cool photos i'll share soon on this one.. Till then...Hello!
