FLA truck stop modeler
kilrathy10 replied to clayton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is a cool memory....I remember as a kid, I was fascinated with planes, trains, and big trucks.....When you are only a head taller than a standard truck tire, they look colossal..... -

I kinda like the other wheels and tires you have set up, there....I was never a fan of the kit wheels, either.... -
Thanks, Boys....I really had a great time building this one....Almost as much fun as I had building my car hauler.....But this Lonestar kit is very impressive....And the drop deck was a hoot, too.....Thank you guys for your support....I'm glad you guys like it.....I think this is my best one, yet....Thank you, Guys....

Nice work on this one, too....This KW is probably the better of the two, though....Kit wise, that is....The stripes look good.....And that headache rack is pretty good, as well....Great job, Mike.... -
Yep....I agree....Nice work on this cool little Pete....I like the orange on this one, too....

Excellent work, my man....A good looking pair of rigs, there.....Nice paint....I like the orange, for certain... -
I finally finished this bad boy....Thanks for all who followed this one....I had a BLAST doing it....Didn't start off that way, but as I progressed, it just took off from there.....Anyway, here's what I've done....I scratch built a drop deck trailer for it....I've never done one of these before...So, as it is my first one, I just winged most of it....the only measurement that wasn't eyeballed from a picture I had is that it is, indeed a scale 48'....As for the Lonestar, I added a couple of side boxes and a headache rack....I used some diamond plating for the deck and some extra chrome sprue for the side rails on the rear portion of the chassis....I thought it worked out pretty good....So, without further adoo..... This thing looks good even without the roof fairing.....

Thank you, Gentlemen, for you continued encouragement....I've got a little something special planned for the trailer for this one, and I'll reveal that in the Under Glass section, as I have completed them both....I hope you like my final solution....There won't be any more posts, here....I hope to get some outside shots of the completed model, tomorrow....I'm hoping for a sunny day....Thanks, again, Guys....

Yeah, Man....This bad boy is looking good, already....That's a lot of detail, there, Man..... -
Thanks guys for all the encouragement.....I'm almost finished with it....Christmas Eve and I'm out in the garage working on a model....Oh well, that's what Daddy's do.... I'm really happy with the way this one is turning out....The marriage has been made and the chrome has been attached....I've never seen a kit go together, this good....I mean, I really had no issues with assembly....That is to say, after I figured out where everything goes, as the instructions look great, but seem to leave a few assembly suggestions out....The pictures do help....You need a magnifying glass to see where some parts to the engine go, but look closely and you'll find them.....Well, anyway, here's some more pics.... Not sure what's going on....Can't get anthing to come up....I'll try to load pics, later....

I started this one last month, but it's been cold outside, so build progress has been slow....I could have sworn I had posted this, but I can't find it, so here I go, again, I think..... This is probably the absolute BEST kit I've ever built....The fitment is EXCELLENT.....Everything lines up and fits just as it should....Even after paint.....There is a learning curve, as the instructions can be vague at times, but with TEST FITTING everything, you soon figure out where stuff goes.....I'm very impressed....

Sweet, Sweet build, Man.....This thing is awesome....Hobby Lobby has been clearing these out, for some reason....I've acquired 5, so far....I was wondering what I might do with all of them.....There's still quite a few more left.....$8.99 each....I think I'll stop at 7....Excellent build....
