I've got another one going, here.....I do believe this will be the last one for the fleet....Just gotta have a tow truck for those break downs and mishaps, you know....My plan is to use the Italeri wrecker body.....I don't even have to do anything to the frame....Had I not built the first Lonestar, I wouldn't have even come up with this idea....My first measurements assure me that the tow body will nestle right behind the cab with no alterations to the frame or cab, which is HUGE.....However, the business end of the wrecker will have to be altered to make the body sit closer to the wheels...I've done it before, so I don't think I'll have too many issues with it....Also, there is a lip at the front of the cab that wouldn't allow the hood to close all the way that I discovered on the last Lonestar I built.....This had to be trimmed.....We'll see what it looks like at the end of this project.......Here goes nothin'..... Having some paint issues....Humidity is up....20th of January and it's 75 degrees.....Houston weather.....Nothing a little Future can't solve, though....

That looks good, Man....I can't wait to see that orange paint.....I like that color, you know.... -
Dude, have you tried plastic-models.com.....Tower hobbies runs specials on free shipping a lot....They have one out, now for purchases over $25.....Just go there and look....They have the best prices on models that I have seen....And with free shipping, it's even better....And get on their e-mail list....You'll be buying a LOT of stuff, I guarantee it.... And, although the Revell kit you've posted is a decent kit, it's not as good as an Italeri kit, or even their W900 kit is better than that one....(The Glue kit not the Snap).....I'd go after that, as they're the same price....Tower Hobbies has them.....(plastic-models.com) As a matter of fact, right now, the special is "$10 instant gift certificate for $50 or more purchase" That's shipping and some.....

Definitely, one of the better Generals I've seen....He looks good....Very good..... -
Outstanding build, Man.....This thing is very realistic....The detail is amazing....When I see models of old steam engines, I always wonder what they would look like in real life....I can picture myself standing next to it at an old museum, somewhere.....You've captured it's nostalgia very well in this model....

Revell "snap" Kenworth W900
kilrathy10 replied to o-man's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You've picked a good kit to "get your feet wet", so to speak, with......If you've built cars, this should be a good transition.....Keep in mind, though....Most Big rig kits will not be this easy.....And most big rig kits will have much better rims and tires.....And they'll be easier to assemble, too....But, overall, it will build into a great kit....Clayton's rig is just a sample of what you can do with this thing.....Nice build, by the way, Clayton..... -

Got this thing done enough to get a some shots of it....I had even more fun building this one than I did the Lonestar..... This thing was SO much fun to build.....Everything fit extremely well....Jonathan was right to point out the front mounting points....They were a little tall and needed to be shortened to get the cab to sit level....Other than that, this model is a peach....I can't wait to get started on my next one....I think I'm going to build a Lonestar, this time, though....Got some ideas running through my head, too..... I guess I should mention the trailer....It was one of those AMT Fruehaufs that I built up box stock and totally hated it.....I guess the 40'er was fine in that era, but it doesn't look right on anything I put it on.....So, I made new sides, extended the chassis, and slapped some ribs on it, and came up with this 53'er....I put side skirts on it and used the running gear and front end from the kit....I have to say that I like it, now, and I just might buy a couple more of these 'cause they're cheap and easy to extend..... It's funny....I ran out of my favorite paint, just as I started this model.....I thought I had bought the right color when I was painting the trailer....When I ran out just as I finished the trailer....So the trailer and truck don't match.....On the other hand, Schneider National seems to have this problem, as well.... If you've seen their trucks, you know what I mean.....

My Experimental GMC Mixer

I'm with everyone else on this one....This is an extraordinary build....Definitely looks nice....Just an experiment in what's possible.... -
Excellent work, Buddy....This is a very good build.....You've done a great job on both truck and trailer.....I really like the paint job on the rig, especially.....Very nice....Don't know why I don't have one of these, yet... And the Monogram KW W900 would be a great to build, if you're wanting something relatively moderate in difficulty....They're cheap and build up pretty nice.....You can find them at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, on line, or even at Walmart for about $20.....They have a Pete 359, as well....It's basically a snap kit, but has a fairly decent parts count....You'll fall in love with them as we all have.....You just can't beat the price for what you get....
