  1. Thanks for the invite. I'll definitely check it out. Hopefully my band isn't gigging that weekend. If I did come down, I'd probably see you with my buddy Mark here in town. We headed down to Fargo this past October for the Plastic on the Prairie show at the Ramada.
  2. I knew about the AMT thing and the POSSIBILITY/RUMOR of Hobby Heaven and Model King picking them up. But..... let the waiting game begin. I understand the Wal/Kmart thing, they do really turn over kits, but limit stock unfortunately. And, unfortunately, it is all about the all mighty dollar. I guess we all can only hope that the independent guys (who know what's going on) can get it done. 8)

    Another one!

Great looking Civic. Simple and smooth!
  4. Looks like you're doing some great work thus far. Keep it up!
  5. My LHS has Tamiya paints, but haven't seen that color in the jar.
  6. I work in shipping/receiving daily from little packages to pallets worth. Pack it TIGHT so that it cannot move anywhere. Also, be sure to label, relabel, highlight, and make the package SCREAM fragile. Use packing peanuts, newspaper, or bubble wrap in several layers.
  7. Reissuing the sought-after kits? Model King is having success putting out the likes of the Ford 4x4, Boondocker 72 blazer, and more. Why aren't Revell and/or AMT putting out kits that are going for gangbusters on Ebay? Like the Double Dragster kit for example? They've obviously got a market interest.
  8. Definitely a very cool subject. You're off to a great start!
  9. You did well with the brass. Very clean.
  10. Great tutorial on the windshield. My skills are not quite there yet, but it's something I'll have to definitely try. Thanks!
  11. Coming along nicely. You've done very well with the interior. The seats look great.
  12. Quite the undertaking on the Ford! Can't wait to see more.
  13. Hey everyone, I forgot to introduce myself when I joined up.... Anyway, I'm 31 (and an 8 year old according to the mrs. ) I've been building off & on for years. Started when I was 6 kept going until GI JOE took over. I picked up the hobby again as a young teen for about three years, then high school, girls, college, and a huge flood took all my modeling equipment and time away. 3 years ago, my folks bought me a new airbrush and compressor and I've been back in the hobby ever since and wondering why I never got back into it sooner. My "stash" is comprised of a variety of automobiles for one specific reason or another. My favorites are 69 Camaros and Nissan Skylines. I've been married for 8 years to the most wonderful, supportive, and understanding woman on the planet, and I've got a 4 year old son (whom I've built a couple snap kits with) and a 2 year old daughter that keep me busy as well. Aside from model building, I play bass in a local variety band playing country/top 40/rock/heavy metal on the weekends for some extra $$$$$ to help support my model buying habit.
  14. This stuff is in the $1.97 aisle. It works just fine. I mix it 50/50 with lacquer thinner and it lays down very well. I primed the model with Tamiya white primer first which lays down very smooth. The only trouble I'm having/had is that it takes a bit for this to build up enought to look even and not spotty. I've still got a bit to do, but thus far things are very promising.
  15. Primed and painted. The first coat anyway. I've got some sanding to do. One thing is for sure though. This paint is a :!: :!: :!: :!: to make look even. Used half/bottle just to do this and still have the chassis and engine bay left. I'm going to Hobby Lobby this weekend to get some decal paper, so I can get on that next. I think I'm going to do the interior in a 3-tone black/gray/green.
  16. That's definitely one of the more tastefully done customs I've ever seen. Everything flows together smoothly. Great build!
  17. That is a truly smooth build your friend did. Excellent color choice too IMHO.
  18. This is the first race car I've built since returning to the hobby. It was also a great challenge for me with the decals as a first time endeavour. It's a Tamiya curbside kit, so I tried some detail painting of the exhaust etc. for the first time as well. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
  19. I'd love to just sit and look at it too! GREAT job with the whole build!
  20. Very cool! I've never seen that car/wagon before. I also really like the direction you're taking it. 8)
  21. I'm not surprised, but the way the front end blends in with the Magnum body, it's natural. Especially with two different kit companies. I was wondering how long it would take someone to do this! Can't wait to see it done. I also vote for the 5 spoke wheels. 8)
  22. I'm building this one courtesy of my wife's inspiration. Long story short, she had a nail polish color that she wanted me to paint a model with because "it'd look cool on a car". The color looked good in the bottle, but when sprayed found out it was a top-coat and didn't even begin to cover the primer. SOOO.... the build was doomed from the start by taking TWO purple baths, and ended up being orange and slapped together after a series of unfortunate events kept plaguing the thing. Here's the kit with a new nail polish that's close to the original (except this one will work). It'll have the CF hood and I'm going to make some tribal ninja star decals for the side, and give it some red running lights up front. Now I just need to get some clear decal paper!

    LOTUS SUPER 7

    Wow! Absolutely great build! Bravo!
  24. Man! Great details! Looking forward to seeing this done!
