  1. I face the same issue. I politley tell them you have to pay for talent and its not cheap. ThT usually shuts them down. If not i tell them when your hobby becomes your job then its no fun. And i enjoy my hobby. I treasure my bench time as i work 50 plus hours and my comute time plus family duties. Dont let them pressure you into doing it.
  2. Condolences and ill keep you in my prayers.
  3. For a first attempt you car looks very nice. And by being on the forum here will be a big help. They are the friendliest most helpful group youll find anywhere. So have fun and lets see your next project when done.
  4. Speaking of cats and model parts. My son was working on his corvette model and he couldnt find his door panels. After a half hour of looking he found them in the living room in our cats bed along with his landing gear for his plane he is building. My son now puts everything in storage drawers when hes not at his bench. Well, wats a cat with thumbs going to do with his spare time. Lol.
  5. If it was perfect there would be nothing for us modelers to do except assemble it. Where is the fun in that. How many of us ever just just build from the box. I don't. I for one am looking forward to getting several.
  6. I might have to sell one of the 1:1 projects. Too much too much. Wallet hurts.
  7. The wheels are resin copies i picked up off ebay. The only thing johan is the body. I used the gtx for everything else the tires are satco redlines i stashed. The hood is aftermarket resin piece. Good luck on your project. Just a tip the replacement parts for the 69 roadrunner from the Modelhaus are repops of the johan pieces. Which i used to replace the grill and bumpers on mine.
  8. Here is a picture of my roadrunner a/12. The keithmarks decals cover nicely.
  9. Keith marks makes the decals as well the hardest part to find is the hood decal as it is different than the dodge.
  10. Now harry that avatar fits you. Col. Potter is one of my favorite characters.
  11. Thank you very much.
  12. Im looking to see if someone makes resin repops of of the 53 buick headlight assemblies. I got a set a long time ago for a custom merc. Project. I want to duplicate it so now i need to find a set of the assemblies. Thanks for the help.
  13. Cadillac engines were their own color. The color is kind of a purplish blue. Or a dark blue.
  14. I read that future has changed their formula whoch doesnt work so well. Humbrol has a replacement, clear gloss varnish which has the same properties as the old future. Is self leveling high gloss, can be applied by brush or airbrush, is waterbased and touch dries in 30 minutes. Any ideas.
  15. I have followed 1:1 practice on my silver paint jobs. Use a basecoat of black under the silver and it will bring out the metallic. I have a can of tamiya silver that actually states must use a black basecoat to work with their silver metallic paint for proper color.
  16. Nice seville.
  17. The monogram 59 corvette was the 58 with different hood and trunk. Louvers and trim spears removed. Two sets of wheels and tires added with flame decals, i think there was some other slight differences as well.
  18. Try going one direction on dull aluminum with a scotchbrite.
  19. No other 58 cadillac shared the the sheetmetal from the doors back with the bairritz or seville. That was unique to the bairritz and seville. The car had no visible seams which were leaded in. Which made it a limited production car. Imex did a good job of their kit of this car but should have taken more care to make a accurate model of the 58. The most glaring issue i have with the kit besides the inaccurate interior is the dashboard. They moulded the instrument faces flat. But the guage pods actually protude from the dash which makes it difficult to build accurate. Another glaring error was to include the airtank and plumbing and compressor for the airbag suspension and outfit the car with coil springs. Like i said in previous post with lots of research and care this kit can be built into a accurate model. I think its about time we had a modernized kit of the brougham either a 57 or 58 would be nice
