Thank you.

Thanks guys. Not my best but ill get better. All they had at my lhs was the white, now ill hunt down the yellow one. I bought it for the buick v6. The tires and wheels are bonuses. I am going to combine this v6 with the one in the indy 500 firebird and should be able to build a fairly accurate engine since they are both the same block.

Do you remember what size solder you used. Thats a great idea. I have been looking for a better way to make ends than using photoetch.

I just gave the kit a quick glance when i got home will try to post photos tonite or tomorrow. Ok here are a few pictures. This is of the tires. Two slicks, four polyglass tires, and 4 stock type tires. Also a picture of the turned aluminum stacks and metal axles. Chrome tree More of body. And extra pieces. The drag pieces and v6 pieces are in separate bags Decals Two sets of tailights one stock and one custom. Box lid this is their special edition boxes with a framable picture in bottom. This looks like a fun kit. Im going to wait for the yellow edition now. I would buy this just for the tires and wheels. Lots of extra goodies. Hope this helps.

I just picked up amts release of their Opel kit. This one is molded in white. I especially like the tires. It has tampo printed slicks, tampo printed polyglass tires and what looks like four stock style tires. Three sets of wheels. And i especially like the aluminum air stacks. I dont remember the drag parts when i built this a long time ago. What is with the single chrome reverse wheel? I will definitely need to pick up another one of these.

I was in my lhs today and noticed some new releases. The revell 53/54 gasser, the amt opel, 56 ford, the Tommy Grove Mustang funny car by polar lights. Im going to have to mortgage the house with all these new releases coming out.

Tamiya paints and clear coat options
azers replied to allecb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It is called cranberry wine pearl. It was used on chrysler pt cruisers. You can get the color in duplicolor spray and use the m.m. lacquer spray on it since tamiya clear is unavailable. I have even sprayed the testors clear over the tamiya clear with no bad results. By sanding between clear coats and putting on two more wet coats you get virtually no orange peel. By the way if you want the duplicolor number i can get it for you. -
Tamiya paints and clear coat options
azers replied to allecb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have paintjobs as old as 11 years old i used tamiya clear. Close to the same formula as testors and have had no yellowing problems. This was painted in 2002 and cleared with tamiya clear. I wait a day or two so paint gasses out then i spray a few light coats of clear. Let that dry a few days. Sand any dust bunnies or fuzz out. I put on a few more coats of clear for coverage and polish out after a week. Thats my way. As far as decals i polish out then put decals on. I havent had the confidence to clear over decals after applying them. After my last disaster. -

Revell 1949 mercury engine?
azers replied to ridinframe's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 1st gen post war caddy v8 started out as a 331 v8 in 1949 and ended up a 390 v8 by 62. Carburation in stock form ranged from a two barrel to a single 4 barrel the eldorado versions ran twin 4 barrels and tripower. There was also a lot of aftermarket speed equipment made for these engines as well. The other hot engine was the olds engine. -
Thanks for the info. I couldn't get the website to come up on the google search. This one worked.

Does anyone out there know if mikes scale speed shop is still around?

TS-14 tamiya black paint haze - HELP
azers replied to 1fine89's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You can either wetsand and repaint another coat or. I would use 3200 through 12000 grit sanding pads or paper grits and sand the dust or lint out and polish using polish and wax i like the novus system. Be careful and the shine will come back. Glad your paint job came out nice and our advice helped. Post pictures when done.- 14 replies

I would like to add my two cents here. First though is a big thanks to greg for this forum. I enjoy your magazine and look forward to it. I buy it before i buy any others. As for the forum here, i have been on it for six months now and have found it to be a excellent source of info and a great way to pass the time at lunch. I have made a few friends and learned a lot as well. I have found items i couldnt or didnt know about from members on this forum. I look forward to reading what my other fellow modelers are up to and seeing their wip, and finished works. I think this imho is the best forum for model car builders and it would be a shame to lose it over a few bad eggs. I have also seen the therapuetic benefits through reading different postsof this forum for helping people recover from illnesses and accidents. So please keep this in mind before shutting it down if it ever comes to that. You would lose a lot of knowledge that you cant find on other forums. I enjoy reading the little quips and comments on the forum. Even harrys. So keep up the hard work. I appreciate it and so does everyone else on the forum just my two cents.

I have found you can wet sand m.m. lacquer paint with 1000 grit and finer sandpaper then prime and wetsand the colorcoats till no sign of feathering shows. Then finish as needed for your final paint. This is how i fix my boo boos.
