I would like to build the testors 1/4 scale street hemi and use a wrinkle finish on the valve covers. I had thought about applying a glue to the covers, then dipping them in sandblastiing sand for texture. Then apply paint. Thoughts?

I can see where the decals could be a nightmare. Good Job! -
ThisTamiya pilot has been sitting in my to do list for at least 12 years. The eyes are the absolute toughest part of the build to get right. This is my second figure build. I hand painted the whole thing and, realize I could do better with airbrush. A flat black wash may have added detail but I am not a good washer, so I avoided it.

My kit of this bike had a small correction sheet in with it, and it seems that Titanium gold was in the mix. I cannot find the sheet! So, my kit must have been a later production than yours. I like the pic of the chop stick holding the chain and rear sprocket. I was using a chop stick to hold some brake discs today for painting.

Eva Mendes has a pretty polished body I think. Oh you mean model car bodies?? The Lindburgh Little Red Wagon body is pretty smooth and shiney right out of the box.

I purchased a set of motorcycle saddle bags on ebay that were in Arizona. They went to a sorting facility in Arizona then to California, then to me in Ontario Canada .......... all for $49.50. I thought that was way way too reasonable for all the transport that had to be done. I would say the package was 2.5 feet x2.5x2.5. Then on the other hand, a baseball style cap worth $10.00 located in Michigan, is $35.00 shipping by USPS. Whats up with that?

I think sometimes things go so off of the rails that it peaks a persons drive to finish and just see how it turns out good or bad. I am very tempted to get another of the same kit and try again. And yes, I think I will dial down my expectations. I also suspect that we are our own worst critics.

The back window looked like about an early '70s pontiac grande prix, in fact, would have said grand prix all the way. Ford ? Wow. -
I just finished a model that turned out OK, But it seemed that everything that could go wrong at some point did go wrong. Do others on here experience this once in a while? This hobby is supposed to be relaxing not a stress builder....... sheesh!

Very nice pics Art and Glen. I will go ahead with my decal painting, now that I know it can be done successfully. Thanks

Thanks for the input. I kinda thought it would be do-able but it's always good to hear from someone who has done it. If it is not a lot of trouble, a pic would be good. I know peoples time is valuable.

I use a weathering set (Master D set ) by tamiya. I use it on motorcycle exhaust to show the chrome discoloration from heat. Works really well.

Is it possible to paint decals? I am thinking of the stripes on the 1/12 mustang gt 500. I could paint the hood roof and trunk stripes directly on the car but the side stripes supplied with the kit have gt500 in them. I am thinking of changing the color of all the stripes. Any opinions/suggestions?
