When I was a kid in the '60s, I can recall some news program talking about something - expanded roadways I think- that would be required by 1994. I remember thinking that 1994 was so far off and here we are on the cusp of 2013!

Tiny new Ford engine coming soon...
gerdog replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think so if mythbusters show info is accurate. They tested motorcycle engines and they were far dirtier than car engines. -
El Camino Abomination
gerdog replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the el camino concept and the studebaker (camino). They sure beat the dodge rampage styling from yesteryear!! -
Ah, that makes sense now. Yeah, spellings get changed, just ask someone who researches family history.

Let's all calm down ....... proceed to the modeling table, take a couple of deep breaths and scratchbuild a 1:1 dodge with a posi rearend and pontiac tripower. It will have mag style wheels that are actually hubcaps. When it's finished we will call it a ratrod.

If one were to get technical, a motor should only apply to an electric motor. An engine refers to something with pistons i.e. two and four stroke engines. This thread could get crazy real fast! Where did the term "souped up" originate?

I initially thought that ratrod came from rat being a reference to a chevy powerplant. I think that rat motors goes back to the ratfink dragrace cartoons from the early '70s. It does seem, however, that ratrods can be powered by anything. I do agree though, that there could be a better name than ratrod. P.S Funny cars aren't really funny, they initially just looked funny because of their radical wheelbase and body look. Sometimes a name just becomes popular and stays.

Nice ..... real nice. I do have a comment though, there is no parachute on the back. I suppose that the fluted rocket tips on the back could be where packed 'chutes could be on a full size dragster.

I agree with one of the other posters here, it's all a matter of perspective. I remember being in my early 20s' and mentioning some old guy who was 40. Now I'm almost 60, 40 doesn't look so old!

Like the fender flares!

I think my indecision is caused by having 7 different kits on the go right now - 3 motorcycles,2 cars, and 2 aircraft. Oh yeah and the Rupp snowmobile dragster. I reach a point on these kits, and then stallout. Then, sometimes after weeks of doing nothing with them, I will get to work and finish several.

I've seen this body on ebay, and am toying with the idea of a conversion,as I have the little red wagon for the donor. Still don't know.

Good lookin' build! The 'Cuda was one of -if not- the nicest body styles of the era in my opinion.
-
Thanks. Every once in a while I get lucky and the kit comes together reasonably ok.

I just joined this forum yesterday. I perform non-destructive tests in a nuclear powerplant environment, and have played drums for almost 40 years. My wife and I spend a good deal of our summers tearing around on motorcycles. Motorcycles are actually my favourite model to build, although I an tackling that 1/12 gt 500 'stang.
