  1. Love the color combo.
  2. Yup, i have every AM Corvette Grand Sport kit made, i love them! And i hate Corvettes! lol
  3. Well depends on how you like the final results. If the pigment looks to glossy then dull coat.
  4. I had a chassis done up with dust and mud nice, i dull coat it and it softened everything. Took 2 more rounds of layering but it turned out nicer than the first time i applied it. Happy mistake, more work but better results.
  5. Yes, that's what i meant by layering. Pigment, dull coat, dry. Next layer of pigment, dull coat, dry.
  6. It will soften the look of it, kinda "melts" the weathering and spreads it out thinner. You kinda have to do layers to get the look you want. Looks great in the end. Just use light a light dusting and let it dry, and repeat until you get the look right.
  7. Thanks, I have been looking for one for about 2 years now but nothing came up for under 100.00. Pretty stoked about it. Just have to wait for next Tuesday to get my new hobby room to put this in.
  8. I just shipped a 1lbs box to the UK with a firebird T/A rebuilder and a Viper GTS shell and hood and it was 14.00. Took 6 weeks for it to show up, no ins, no tracking nothing.
  9. Just found this on a local Facebook county garage sale site (it poped up at 8:30 pm i had it by 9:15 pm). Its a medical tool box, yeah its pink (it came from Vanderbilt hospital), i had been looking for one of these for my model building supplies. Paid a whopping.........40.00! Oh and when the woman asked me what i was going to use it for she asked me if i wanted the Camaro kit for free! She said there is about a hundred more in her attic too. She said her husband used to paint the bodys for someone but he never built them. Fingers crossed it turns out to be true!!! 20140610_215905 by jrherald420, on Flickr
  10. I use enamel or lacquer and a small long brush, never have had a problem with sticking on the chrome. Sometimes it takes 2 coats to get the coverage i want.
  11. I can't wait until you get burned by them too. Then you will sing a different story. 7 months ago my collection was 98% Revell or Monogram kits. Today I have about 45%, when you get tired of spending hours working on cleaning up seam lines and filling in sink marks or even better waiting for missing or broken parts to show up, then you will look for better kits to build. I can assure you Revell will not be at the top of that list. Until then just keep suckling on the teet that Revell puts out there for you.
  12. Guess I need to get started on mine if I plan on having it done before November. Haven't even opened the box yet.
  13. I didnt either, until 7 months ago.....
  14. Got my 1/12 Foose camaro body last friday. Only took just shy of 7 months.........side note I now have Ed sexton direct phone line. Pretty sad in my book when it takes 7 months and 5 personal phone calls from Revell's top guy to get a replacement body. Every one can say what you want but my experience with Revell is Not acceptable. They have lost me as a customer.
  15. Nice, i have 6 or 7 of these in the stash to build. Need to find some good pictures for wiring and plumbing and such before i start.
  16. You would be 100% correct on the paint. Someone from the club has already been there with flyers for the show but they will not be able to make the show. I need to get more flyers, I only had 5 and he said there has been 30 or 40 people asking about it. They have the carbon decal set back in for the Ferrari and another set of tires.
  17. Went to the Hobby Town USA that's a couple towns over today and spent a whopping 38.00. Also tried to get a job there but they are not needing any. Side note, my new house is going to be only 13 miles from the HT USA store! lol 20140607_191628 by jrherald420, on Flickr
  18. Lol I know the feeling. I have talked to older friends in modeling clubs here and the discussion of what will happen to their stash after they pass has came up several times. Some guys want to hand it down, others want members to sell it off for the spouse or kids. Always something to think about when you have a good sized collection of kits.
  19. How its meant to be used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yq10MAK0JM Hobby Lobbys embossing powder http://shop.hobbylobby.com/scrapbooking-and-paper-crafts/stamping-accessories/embossing-powders-and-heat-guns/ Its so easy and really hard to mess up.
  20. lol It ends when you die. Then your wife sells it to nothing to the next guy and it starts his addiction. Its a cycle......a viscous cycle.
  21. Thanks, i also found on accident that if you use a semi gloss paint (or bare clean plastic) under the powder/glue, when the glue dries 100% if you dont like it or get some where you dont want it to be, cut it with a sharp blade and it will lift right off. On the Dodge interior you can see where i tried to "push" the powder into the glue under the door panel. Looks like dookie when it dries.
  22. Some more i have done. IMAG0992 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8187 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8186 by jrherald420, on Flickr
  23. Top tip, dont press the powder into the glue either. When it dries you will be able to see where you did this and it looks bad. Sprinkle and let air dry. When dry blow excess off with your breath and use a clean soft brush to bush off any strays. Brush lightly because sometimes it will be wet and leave a colored streak on the interior. Happens more with black powder and a light colored interior. Happened to me on the Monkeemoile and i had to do several touch ups.
  24. Here is the Monkiemobile i just finished. I used white glue (a lot) and some black embossing powder, the color was not what i wanted so i sprayed it Model Masters flat black, this also sealed it in place. Not the best pictures but you get the point. 20140516_102746 by jrherald420, on Flickr 20140519_151310 by jrherald420, on Flickr
