I would rather buy too much than too little. I don't airbrush much but i would think that 4oz would be enough to cover a 1/12 scale.

Nice score on the Tamiya kits. Not one there that i dont want to build.

Revell Mercedes Benz Unimog U 1300 Rallye
jrherald420 replied to jrherald420's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Im planning on building one as a Stock Unimog Rallye and the second one as a post apocalyptic type truck with weapons and a big plow on the front. Never built anything like that before, should be fun. Lots of other builds to finish first. -
Dont know if anyone posted pictures yet but i bought 2 of these. 67.00 each. The bed and yellow parts tree are the onlt new parts. The black trees look old and have not as much detail and more flash and sink holes. This kit will take some work!

Its a great feeling when i can say my 2 1/2 year old can count to 14 and say all of his ABC's all ready. 99% of the people think he is 4 because how well he talks and can figure things out (he is a puzzle wiz! up to 20pc puzzels and no picture needed!!) Its even better when i give other moms advice on how to do things. I helped a couple potty train their 3 yr old over the course of 2 weeks. How many other DADS can say that! It really gets me misty eyed thinking about going back to work and not being around my kid all day. That is going to be rough for me.

Being a stay at home dad since my son was born (2 1/2 years now) I can say that i am BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH proud to say i am one. When you price out a day care and find out that your looking at 1200-1400 a month for a child under 1 year old and when they hit 1 year old it went down to 1000-1200 a month. Now that we moved from Louisville KY to Smyrna TN the rates dropped a little Down to 200.00 a week for full time so we are looking at 800-1000 a month. Most jobs around here pay about 10.00 an hour. so your looking at 400.00 a week, now deduct lets say 25% for taxes and the other fun stuff and your looking at 300.00 a week. Oh yeah then gas to drive to work. Roughly another 50.00 a week if your driving any distance. So after all that your looking to make a whopping 50.00 a week to pay someone to raise your kid. No thanks. Now that my son needs that play time with other kids i am trying to find work again but only to help my son grow.

Models 30% Off at Michaels this week
jrherald420 replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That sucks, ours has about 30-35 car/truck kits, several planes and helicopters and a couple tanks. I just wish they carried Model Master paints like Hobby Lobby does. -
Clear and polish smooth before BMF. I have done i both ways and it works just fine either way. Mainly up to you.

Our Michaels will let you walk in and out as many times as you wish (to a reasonable amount). Only one coupon use per transaction though. You could go in 4 or 5 times a day and they wouldn't say anything. -

Around here if you enter a model under full disclosure(IE-did not build it 100%) you are basicly displaying it and MIGHT get an honerable mention.
-
Entering it under a full disclosure is fine. Its then judged buy what the modeler has indeed done themself. Junior judging is kinda different as your wanting to draw more into showing and the hobby. Personally i will give 1st to the kid that has done everything themself and MAYBE a 2nd or 3rd to the one that has the flawless painted and polished body. Its easy to spot them and easy to spot when Dad has helped out more than they said and if confronted by said Dad its easy to explain why the judging went as it did. Most of the time they understand and correct the "issue" for the next show.
-
Yep. The models are very high quality builds. Just not built by him.
-
Whats sad is the judges were told about him. I would have called him up to get his award and then confronted him with the Ebay listings and then informed him to NEVER return to a show again with them.
-
Found out that a guy we call the Ebay modeler won another Best of show awards for cars he buys off of Ebay that are built at the IPMS show in Anniston AL yesterday. Pisses me off to the point i want to smash every one of his cars next time i see him and beat him with the remains.
