  1. Started with Ebay, but all I find is stuff for the Big Deuce, A, and Pocher. Any wheels I find are the wrong offset to use on the '85 Corvette. Most venders that I find have a bunch of 1/16 stuff, but little in the way of 1/8. Thats why I thought I would ask here.
  2. Got one in the stash and hope I can do it the justice you did.
  3. Thanks, I hope to do this again with more of the 1:1s.
  4. Thanks everyone. It sure is a nice feeling to get something done. lol This one was started back in feb of 2010.
  5. The '51 chev is a thing of beauty unto itself, and you sir are turning it into a piece of art...
  6. Ferrari purists are turning over in their grave....and thats a good thing !
  7. I dont have it in my sweaty hands yet to take a pic. He just dug it out of the closet and now I need to go and get it. I am pretty sure Its the '79. He had a 1:1 Bandit edition at the time and wanted to build a replica but never got a round tuit, so now I get to build it.
  8. I thought I was in the middle of nowhere, but you got me beat. So any old cars or pu's laying around up there? Thanks Thomas !
  9. Out of the three 1/8 kits I now have, I figured I would start with the '85 Corvette since its the least valuable. That way it wont hurt as much when I screw up. So my questions are..... Where do you get any aftermarket stuff for these, like spark plug wiring, battery cable, hoses, distributors pe, wheels and tires, etc. TIA, Sam
  10. Sharp Duster !! My oldest son and I are working on a 1:1 for him. Not a 340 car but still a V8/floorshift 3spd numbers matching Sassy Grass green with black interior.
  11. Ok, I built these for a dual purpose. No pun intended, lol. I needed a slump buster for one, and the second reason was that I had a 1:1 project truck that I just couldn't figure out what direction to go with. So I built two different versions in different colors and engine/tranny/wheel combos. I new that I wanted to go with a drop axle, update the brakes to late 50s five bolt and an open driveline rear end. Other safety features would be going with a power bake/dual master cyl frame mount unit, and a 65 mustang gas tank frame mounted. So these mods are the same on both models. The red/black one is the way I was leaning towards as the 1:1. It has a 235 six/floor shift 3spd with a dual carb intake and headers. steelies with wide whites and stock grey interior with a 1953 Belair instrument cluster frenched into the dash(the 1:1 had this scabbed into the dash and I wanted to see what it would look like cleaned up). The blue truck has the same color interior with standard white faced round gauges in the dash and a 348/powerglide for motivation. I also opted for old school mags. Its all a moot point since I sold the 1:1 project and the 348 last year. Still have more projects though. lol
  12. Salvaged this Tamiya kit from a lot on Ebay. It was painted an ugly orange, had a broken A-pillar, and was missing the wheels and decals. I sourced an aftermarket set of decals for a 2003, and somebody gave me a set of wheels from a Porsche. So what started out as a neglected and abused Tamiya kit.....ended up looking like a used and abused Tamiya model.
  13. My sentiments as well Don. Chevy really laid an egg with the Camaro. The Challenger and Mustang are soooo much better as retro styled cars.
  14. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome !! Chuck, are you up by Billings? Eric, have not found anything more than a Hobby Lobby... Andy, you and just about everybody. lol Colder ? the last few days we have had minus lows with highs in the teens. Makes the basement a wee bit chilly for building. lol
  15. Just wanted to say a quick "hi". Been looking around the board and seeing some great stuff. Hope to be able to post from time to time. My building time is limited and so am sporatic. Usually all my stuff is 1/25 but am going to try my hand at a 1/12 and 1/8 kit in the coming year. My brother-in-law gave me a n unbuilt 1/8 1977 Trans Am, and after that I found a 82 and 85 Corvette, so all of a sudden I am into big scale. lol Right now I'm trying to catch up on some stalled builds before jumping into a new one. See ya on the boards !! Sam
