You're welcome, Gary. In Italy, there is a F1 collection (IIRC 120 models) and a Ferrari F1 collection (80 models?) on the run - all in 1/24 scale. (A guy in Vienna offered the 2 above for € 19 each so I drove there to get them (only 10 miles from my home)

Lucky guy, I have only seen photos of it online. Exactly my words, Dave - though I also do have the later F50 and Enzo kits in my stash, I find them not as esthetically pleasing as the F40. Correct, Thomas, I cut it into the body with a hobby knife.

Started working on body modifications of this old gluebomb...

I forgot my Teapot Graphics/John F. Johnson 1962 Ferrari SP resin kit (got this in 1993) and a very old (ca. 1966) FROG kit of a Lola T70 Spyder (was a half-built gluebomb snatched on ebay) which seems to be a kit made out of a slotracer = very crude:

This will be an awesome looking model - seems that starter has hit the contours and proportions of the car very well. It is admirable how you turn out such wonderful models in that small scale (I tried myself a few 1/43 kits more than 30 years ago, but gave up on it - much too tiny for me).

Jason of Jackmodelling makes excellent 3D printed Borrani spoke wheels in several sizes (even with matching Dunlop racing tires) - highly recommended ! Finally finished this one: started around 1990 and finished it today. Mostly box stock apart from some detailing. In comparison with its civilian brother (also Italeri): "Winged warriors" - Italian style: Here is sort of a WIP if interested:

Last update: tires almost ready mesh panel with rear lights almost done rear view mirrors almost done (made from a Bburago Alpine A 110 rear light housing with plastic sprue and putty) the rather complex drivetrain (with several fitting issues) using the original Italeri F40 partially as a reference : Next time in "Under Glass" !

I found for little money these 2 classic Ferrari F1 racecars - made by Ixo/Hachette (in the Ferrari F1 series from Italy): Fangios's 1956 world championship car: Ferrari D50, which is mainly an updated Lancia D50 from 1955 with its characteristic side tanks: and Phil Hill's 1961 World championship car, The Ferrari 156, their first rear-engine F1 car, the iconic "sharknose": Though I'm not into building/collecting 1/24 F 1 cars, these 2 were a must-have for me:

Short update: decals didn't like the clearcoat at all und started becoming heavily wrinkled (NOTE modeler's rule # 1 : always try this on a piece from the very same sheet that you don't need !) I was lucky, though: most decals smoothed out again - only the roof decal and the door numbers look a bit rough. Next are the wheels: I will use the tires (for rear) from a Gunze Ferrari 365 GT4 BB . As I lost one of the kit's wheels, I pirated two from the Italeri Daytona Racing kit and widened it with a strip cut off a thin Evergreen sheet to accomodate with the wider (rear) tires. They look different, but they will be covered with aerodiscs anyway, and as the inside is the same as the kit wheels, they will fit on the supension without (major) fiddling. (The 365 GTB /Daytona racer will get Jack modeling wheels - the Italeri kit wheels are totally wrong.) Additionally, I fabricated some kind of rollcage using insulated wire and parts of JoHan's Petty Superbird (this is more of a fantasy cage but not much will be seen anyway (the kit offers absolutely nothing here). Finally, a quick mock-up with glass and interior shell (minus dashboard) just to see if there are any interferences with the cage:

Ken, this kit is a modified version of Italeri's original stock F40 - they only added a tree with racing parts and a new decal sheet. The engine cover is horrible, it does not fit at all - after making this experience with the stock model back then, I decided to NOT cut open the rear panel but leave it closed.
