  1. Hope to build the 924 GTS using the Italeri/Testors 944 kit as a base. I'm choosing to convert the 944, in lieu of a 924 kit as the GTS body lines more closely resemble those of the 944. My intention is to build the racing version. I'm thinking I'll need to cut up another body so if anyone has a junk 944 body or even parts, I would be interested in working out a trade for them. Street version of the car: The kit:
  2. Here is a build up of the kit in progress: http://race-car-models.proboards.com/thread/1012/zakspeed-capri-dash-update-17?page=1&scrollTo=6349
  3. The goal of a model magazine, besides obviously wanting to sell issues should be to encourage ever more people to be excited about the hobby. That was my original point. Somehow it got twisted into me being a whiner and everyone should get a trophy. Rant over.
  4. Not the first time I've been a bad influence. Looking forward to your build Ray.
  5. Is the T-Bolt the correct wheelbase? Might be an easier conversion.
  6. Great work Mike.
  7. Very nice.
  8. I'll look at the Black Widow wheels David-thanks. Janne, the kit is an old tool and requires a lot of cleanup and fitting but I have seen some very nice builds of this kit.
  9. For clarification I had no entry in the class.
  10. A modeling magazine had a photographer at NNL Mid-Atlantic this past weekend. If they wanted to photograph your build they would place a red sticker on your entry slip. In the Tuner class there were 15-20 entries. The magazine selected (4) builds, but here is the thing. All (4) were by the same builder! There were several others builds that I thought were equally deserving. Why not give as many modelers as you can the thrill of getting their build in a magazine?
  11. This kit has some deep steelies but don't really want to rob them. I'll look at PPP - thanks.
  12. Air Horns - had never heard that term before. Think I'm skipping the mirrors. I know they are ubiquitous for the JDM look but I'm not crazy about them.
  13. Jesse was right the kit does have the same wheel center as the JDM truck but unfortunately the kit only gives you (1). I managed to graft the center into another deep offset rim. Now I just have to find (3) more or hope I can convince someone to cast a set for me.
  14. The interior tub attachment to the frame determines the cab position. I replaced the feeble kit locating pins at the front and added (2) more at the rear. Also added a cleat to the back of the interior and a corresponding one on the cab. This firmly defines the vertical position of the cab. Now even dry fit (no glue) the interior is locked securely into place. Sanded off the molded on wiring detail at the inner fender/firewall and filled some ugly ejector pin marks. Lowered the front suspension several scale inches. This is a little risky without having the final wheel/tire combination determined but I'll make it work.
  15. "Air Horns" is that what the fender mounted mirrors are called Jesse?
  16. A micro car kit for the body and a snowmobile kit for the track and skis would give you a good start on scratch building one of these.
  17. This is the engine and most of these parts are in the kit.
  18. I concur the MPC body is way better, but the AMT has the better Trans-Am body panels. That's why I am kit bashing them on my Dekon Monza project.
  19. This is the only steel wheel I found. Anyone have a picture of the actual wheel? Can't tell if the tires have the stretched side walls which I don't want.
  20. The plan, right now anyway is to use the go fast parts from the kit on the engine. A nice set of wheels/tires will be the big challenge to get the right look.
  21. Won this yesterday in a raffle at NNL Mid-Atlantic. The plan is a JDM Legend shop truck inspired build. The head end of the truck bed is cast integral with the truck cab. I cut it loose and attached to bed as the 1:1 would be.
  22. Hope to see some of you guys there.
  23. I think you might have a "thing" for Vegas.
