  1. Are you referencing these plans? https://www.dirtmodeler.com/?p=290 I haven't built this chassis but have done my share of scratch building - what is it you are wanting to know?
  2. The later iteration of CSX3009 Gary mentions.
  3. After some discussion over on Randy Ayers we determined this build would be more correctly termed a "Late Model" than a "Modified" so I updated the thread title.
  4. Revell produced some great box art back in the day.
  5. Thanks Ben. My build is based on the Sunny kit in 1/25 scale. If you have any questions about what I did just ask.
  6. No carpet, aluminum valve covers. Right click to copy the picture/ right click to paste. I used the smooth valve covers from the Fujimi kit on my 427 Cobra build.
  7. My Tamiya RS500 build.
  8. They bought the car for $30,000 and sold it back to the same guy for $50,000!
  9. Anyone catch the Escort RS Cosworth episode? The original designer wanted a 3rd rear wing element but the bean counters nixed it. The boys fabricated a custom one from a spare top element. Looks killer IMHO. They tested the setup in a wind tunnel and it produced 30% more downforce.
  10. AC Cars produced the AC289 after their Shelby contract ended. They installed 289 engines in left over 427 bodies and dubbed them "AC289". The hoods were stock on the cars. The hood on the box art is similar to those used on the (2) supercharged 427s Shelby produced.
  11. Thanks Kerry & Steve. Appreciate the picture Greg. Looks like a pretty large scoop on the hood.
  12. Appreciate the comments and the interest gentlemen. Cut the ends of the '74 bumpers just past the ugly overrides.
  13. Another very impressive build Michael.
  14. I didn't care for the incomplete cross bracing and the rather simplified rear suspension. I modified the cross braces and track arms from a NASCAR kit to fit this chassis. The long arms wouldn't be appropriate for dirt car but since I am building an asphalt car I think I can get away with kit. I also pulled the wheels in so they don't stick out so far past the body. I still need to relocate the transmission support.
  15. Turned out great Bob.
  16. The Juha Airio article I mentioned early is in the November '96 issue of Car Modeler. He builds a '71 Comet GT and used the '69 Cougar chassis as the basis.

  18. Some great new box art.
  19. Very impressive finish on your build always James. Would love to learn to weather.
