  1. I started when I was around 12 and have been building for more than 40 years! Its a great hobby - welcome to it.
  2. Changes the whole vibe of the song - interesting.
  3. The only colors available on a Cobra in '63 were red, white or black. The Allen Grant car is chassis CSX2128 which was one of the Shelby team cars in '63 before being sold on to Grant. He repainted it yellow and added the distinctive graphics. Shelby added the rear flares to allow larger tires to be mounted. To comply with the FIA rules of the day, the fender spats were added behind the front wheels. I built the sister car CSX2127 from the AMT kit including adding the rear flares.
  4. Very nice. What kit are the rear wheels and tires from?
  5. A bit of trivia: George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) designed the graphics for the Allen Grant car. Allen Grant with George Lucas riding shotgun after a win. Image, Julie Grant Weiss Collection.
  6. I would be surprised if they fixed them as well Bill.
  7. I stand corrected, great save!
  8. Thanks Kerry & Mitch. Looks like a great project Dave, your body is in much nicer shape than what I started with.
  9. Front suspension mock-up. Still searching for the right rear wheels.
  10. Twin leaf springs - I'll post a photo later today.
  11. Yea Chris thinking no front bumper with or without the front splash pan.
  12. Thanks Shay and Happy New Year.
  13. Looking forward to your build Paul.
  14. Thanks Dave. Yea I plan to attend the meeting, would like to see your '60 grille. I had the Trumpeter chassis left over from my '64 Falcon T/A build and the tubbed wheel wheels saved some work.
  15. Appreciate the comments and interest gentlemen. I'll be using the suspension from the Revell '41 Willys. Here is the rear mocked up. o
  16. Ford did a series of "SuperVans" , the first was built with a GT40 chassis and drivetrain. Supervan 2 installed a DF series F1 engine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Supervan
  17. I've tried Testors and Plast-I-Weld and neither have any affect on the plastic Trumpeter uses ( at least on their Ford Falcon kits) - anyone had success with another brand of liquid cement?
  18. Very nice Shawn.
  19. Ask for the FIA Cobra Brake Cooling ducts.
  20. Your detail continues to impress Mike - very nice.
  21. The items under the car are brake cooling ducts. HRM offers them. They are the silver items in the center tray. Here they are installed on my build of CSX2026.
  22. Wayne, haven't yet decided yet on the motor. I do want raised suspension, thinking maybe the Mustang Street Freak as a donor - I need to track down a kit. Thanks for following Steve. I used the Trumpeter kit door panels as a template and traced them out on .020" flat stock. Added some reinforcing on the back side to increase the stiffness. Fabricated a simple bulkhead at the rear. I cut open the hood and removed the windshield wipers. The glass had a nasty tire melt mark on the driver side along the top edge. I was able to sand/polish most of it out.
  23. I’m really struggling with completing my builds but no the less I’m starting another project. I bought this AMT ’61 Falcon as a builder. The rear fenders were damaged from previously installed skirts and one of the vent posts was broken. Rather than try to repair the post I just removed the other one along with all the body trim and emblems. The chassis is from the Trumpeter Falcon, which with a bit of work fits rather nicely.
  24. Appreciate the information Bill. Doing more research regarding getting the u-joints to "work" I found this in a Street Rodder article: "We should mention here that the pinion on the rearend should be set at the same angle as the trans tailshaft, so if the latter is 3 degrees downward, the pinion will point 3 degrees upward. However, as noted in last month’s article on shimmy cures, the driveshaft should not be perfectly straight from trans to rearend, as the U-joints will run dry and fail. Some angle is advisable in the U-joints, but ensure the pinion and trans tailshaft are at equal angles." Question: In addition to getting the u-joints to work does the slight offset also reduce drive shaft vibration?
  25. Very nice Matt.
