  1. I put a lot into my builds and it’s always nice when someone acknowledges the effort. Thank you Joe. I have been following your '70 Challenger T/A build - excellent work.
  2. Thanks Jason. Yea I think one build thread on a European Escort is enough.
  3. I have read (3) of Graham Robson's books on the Escort; The Works Escorts, Works Escorts in Detail and Ford Escort RS1800-Rally Giants. I was bound to learn something! They did run fuel injection on the rally cars on occasion and it did make more horsepower (272 bhp). Unfortunately it was not as reliable for rallying as the Weber carburetors. I should have the low resolution printing of the Minilites soon to verify we got the size correct for the Esci kit. If that checks out we will then do the final high resolution 3D printing which will be the master for the resin casting. We're still a few weeks out from the final product.
  4. I converted a utility closet in our basement into my work area. It's the closet that houses the water system.
  5. Do Straight Fours qualify?
  6. Haven't though about tackling a Group 5 build Shay, cool idea though. I might take a swing at a "Taramac Special". They ran the Kugelfischer fuel injection like the car in your video. Not sure if they ran the fuel injection everytime out but they did at the '79 Monte Carlo
  7. Love the color and the stance Tommy.
  8. Rosberg: Ferrari pace 'an eye-opener' for Mercedes ESPN Staff February 3, 2015 © Getty Images Nico Rosberg says Mercedes has been surprised by the pace of Ferrari in the opening days of the Jerez test. Ferrari-powered cars have topped all three days of testing so far in Jerez, with Sauber's Felipe Nasr going quickest on Tuesday. Rosberg clocked the most laps of anybody on his second day behind the wheel but he says the early runs from Ferrari have caught the attention of everyone in the garage. "The general feeling is a feeling that we've come a long way as a team, we're a strong team," Rosberg said when asked about his early impressions. "We're keeping an eye on the opposition and especially Ferrari has been an eye-opener for us in the last couple of days. But still, we're confident we can start the season well and in terms of development be strong." Rosberg clocked up 151 laps on Tuesday to add to the 157 he completed on the opening day, something the German says highlights Mercedes' focus on reliability over performance at this stage following several key retirements in 2014. "Our goals here are to do mileage, because last year our weakness was reliability so we have a big focus on that and to have a really reliable car this year because it cost us points and things like that last year. That's been the goal because it's important to see the problems now when you still have time before Melbourne. The problems you see in Barcelona, there's a shorter time to Melbourne so it's more difficult to solve them. Anything you find here is going to be easy to solve, or much easier. His day was not all plain sailing, with a stoppage on track after lunch caused by an engine shutdown, though Rosberg thinks Mercedes are learning all the time. "We did find some weaknesses on the car already but they are going to be easy to fix, so we're on the right track
  9. I built Benny Parsons Pop Cola Cyclone the same way. It was an original MPC kit so I used the treaded tires from the kit.
  10. Nice trading with you to Jeremy.
  11. Nice work Tim. Did you use the kit chassis or something else?
  12. Thanks for the offer Shay but I need a wide flat belt. Not sure those are wide enough.
  13. McLaren is promising an "eventual" change in livery. Lets hope Ross that it comes before the first race.
  14. A fellow Escort enthusiast from another forum was kind enough to send me a diagram of the Lubrication System. Of course none of this is represented in the kit so more scratch building in my future. Well that's not entirely true. They do give you the oil tank that goes in the trunk that doesn't open so there is that.
  15. Red Bull explains camouflage livery February 2, 2015 © Getty Images Christian Horner has revealed that Red Bull's testing livery was inspired by the helmet Sebastian Vettel ran at last year's Italian Grand Prix. A World War I battleship in dazzle camouflage © Getty Images The new camouflage livery is a striking mixture of black and white stripes, which in theory makes it harder for rivals to see the details of the new RB11. It is a concept first used by the British Admiralty and US Navy in the first and second world wars to help conceal the size, distance and heading of ships from the enemy. It has since been used extensively by road car manufacturers while testing new models. "The camouflage livery came out of a helmet Sebastian ran last year [at Monza] that was quite fun," Horner explained. "We thought it would be interesting to extend that concept to the rest of the car. Dietrich [Mateschitz, Red Bull boss] liked it when he saw it, and it epitomises Red Bull really that we like to do things a bit differently. Sebastian Vettel's Monza helmet inspired Red Bull to change its © Sutton Images "To see a Red Bull in a different livery is quite striking and it also makes it quite difficult to get detailed photographs of the car at a time of year when we're all trying to be as secretive as we possibly can. "It's difficult to get detailed shots of the car because it confuses your eyeline, but it obviously had a great reaction." It has already proved a hit among fans but will not be on the car for the first race in Australia. Horner said Red Bull's followers could look forward to an even better livery at the races (likely to be the team's traditional colours). "They won't be disappointed because the livery will be even stronger. It's great to do something different, it's been extremely well received.
  16. Red Bull has already indicated that this is a testing livery only but I do like it as well. Not sure the wing is any farther forward since there a regulations regarding its position. I think its that the nose doesn't extend as far forward as some of the other designs.
  17. That's a thought as it would be ribbed like the belt. I'll have to experiment a bit to see what might work.
  18. Thanks Shay. I hope I can use strip styrene. If that doesn't work then I'll use masking tape cut into a thin strip.
  19. Thanks for following Robin. I'm pretty happy with the pulleys.
  20. Took all day but I got the pulleys made.
  21. Nope each team must construct their own unique chassis. They spends millions of dollars in doing so. Big team budgets are around 200-300 million dollars per year. Toro Rosso is Red Bull's development team and as such would be consider a mid-level team. Their budget would be around half of Red Bulls budget.
  22. Will do Shay. Nice talking to you.
