  1. Thanks Gene. Nothing has been painted yet the engine in the kit is molded in gray plastic.
  2. If my updates are too trivial please let me know. I'm sure it looks like very little has been accomplished sometimes but when you're making most of the parts the progress feels more significant.
  3. Fabricated carburetor linkage. The linkage attaches the cylinder head like on the 1:1. Therefore I need to wait until everything is permanently installed to complete the rest of the linkage.
  4. Toro Rosso STR10 breaks cover in Jerez ESPN Staff January 31, 2015 © Sutton Images Toro Rosso has unveiled its 2015 challenger, the STR10, in the Jerez pit lane a day before the first test of the season begins. Toro Rosso released a teaser video of the STR10 from a filming day in Misano earlier this week, and on Saturday took the covers off the car which will carry the hopes of all-rookie line-up Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr, who start the year with a combined age of 37. The pair took the covers off in front of the assembled media in the Jerez pit lane. Sainz will debut the car in Jerez on Sunday, alternating duties with Verstappen for the remaining days of the test. © Sutton Images
  5. I really hope Martini comes up with more imaginative graphics this year for the Williams.
  6. Yes it will be nice to have some color variation since it looks like we will have (3) silver cars this year - Mercedes, McLaren and Force India.
  7. We can only hope.
  8. Nice start Steve and an interesting project. I assume you made the decals yourself.
  9. Very expansive - what a luxury. Great job on editing the video by your granddaughter.
  10. No No No!! Ferrari, Mercedes, Honda and Renault are the engine manufactures. They run hybrid turbo charged V6 engines. Renault claims 850 bhp from its new engine. There is talk of allowing 1000 bhp engines by 2017 but no firm commitment yet.
  11. Here is a picture of the body out of my issue of this kit.
  12. Added some picture of the one I have.
  13. I did have a period at the end. It was big, yellow and had a smiley face on it.
  14. I'm an editor and there is only one "f" in profession
  15. Looks like a '65 Olds speedster now.
  16. Ferrari launches new SF15-T ESPN Staff © Ferrari Enlarge Ferrari has unveiled its 2015 Formula One car, the SF15-T, from its headquarters in Maranello. The car is a significant one for Formula One's oldest and most prestigious team as it marks the start of a new era under new management as well as coinciding with the arrival of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. The SF15-T is the first Ferrari to be fully designed under technical director James Allison and is also the first to be launched by under the new management of Maurizio Arrivabene as team principal and Sergio Marchionne as president. Both the car and the power unit will need to be a dramatic step forward if the Italian team is to close the gap to Mercedes at the front of the field, but the car looks certainly different to the 2014 with a new longer nose to conform to new regulations and tighter bodywork towards the rear. "The back of the car is something which is noticeably different to the 2014 car because we've been successful in pulling the bodywork much tighter to all the stuff underneath the skin," Allison said. "That's been done through a lot of work not only in the wind tunnel but also in the design part of the company to find radiator designs that were fundamentally more efficient. So for every square centimetre of radiator we are able to extract more cooling this year than last and able to close the car down at the back as a consequence." © Ferrari Enlarge However, one area that remains the same is Ferrari's pull-rod front suspension, which is at odds with the rest of the field that (of the cars launched so far) run push-rod. It is a feature that is often picked up on in the media, but Allison said changing to push-rod suspension would not have provided any significant advantage and would have cost aero performance. "Every year you set out which areas of the car you should put your effort into to try to improve them," he explained. "These are decisions that need to be taken quite carefully because when you make a choice of working on one part of the car - because you don't have infinite resources - you are effectively making a choice not to work on another part. When you decide what to work on you have to pick quite carefully the areas that are going to give maximum return for your effort. "Push-rod or pull-rod on the front has pros and cons either side. A pull-rod is probably harder to get light and stiff, but it's probably a bit easier to get aerodynamic performance from, so it's swings and roundabouts. It's an area of the car that wasn't felt to be a problem on last year's car and therefore wasn't an area that merited investment of effort this time round on the SF15-T." © Ferrari Enlarge Arrivabene said he could not yet comment on the performance of the car but believes it is at least "really sexy". "Enzo Ferrari said a long time ago that the best car is the winning car," the new boss said. "Last year we had an ugly car and it was a non-winning car on top of this. I like the car of this year in terms of aesthetics, I don't know about performance, but it's really sexy." Arrivabene has already set two wins at the team's target for 2015 and admits that dreaming of championship success would be setting the bar too high at this stage in the team's comeback. "I'm just realistic. Nobody has the magic to change things when things are unchangeable. The car was ready actually in December this year and we applied certain modifications that in our opinion are quite interesting. With that I don't want to say we are going to win the world championship, but for sure we are committed to win at least two races." © Ferrari
  17. Sauber launches new C34 and new livery ESPN Staff © Sauber Enlarge Sauber has become the latest team to launch its 2015 car, releasing images of the new C34 ahead of its first test in Jerez. After a disappointing season in 2014 without a single point, Sauber is hoping it can move back up the pecking order this year. The team has two new drivers in Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr, and the impact of the pair can already be seen in the sponsors adorning the C34. Nasr brings backing from Banco do Brasil, which has prominent advertising space on the sidepod. The car itself sees yet another treatment for the new nose regulations this year, with a bulbous front nose section extending long and low to meet the requirements of the rules. The team said the changes to the nose have had a significant impact on the aerodynamic design of the rest of the car. The engineering team has focused on three main areas with the C34: performance in slow corners, weight reduction, as well as braking stability in an attempt to right the wrongs of the C34 that often ran over the minimum weight limit for car and driver last year. "We were able to gain a lot of experience during the course of the 2014 season, which will have an influence on the Sauber C34," chief designer Eric Gandelin said. Parts will be added to the new car ahead of its race debut in Melbourne in mid March. "We will use the time up to Melbourne to ensure we're as competitive as possible when we line up on the grid for the season opener," Gandelin added. "We have to improve, and be able to fight for championship points," team principal Monisha Kaltenborn said. "I am delighted about our two new drivers who bring a breath of fresh air. Both are young, talented and highly motivated. On their way to Formula 1 both stood out through victories in Formula BMW and Formula 3. Both then finished this career progression off in the GP2-Series. While Marcus looks back to one season in Formula One, Felipe will have his rookie year in which he comes fully prepared due to his role as test and reserve driver at Williams last year. I feel confident with regard to our drivers." Once again, the Sauber will be powered by a Ferrari engine but the team said there had been significant chances to the architecture of the power unit for 2015. "The aim has been not only to increase the power from the turbocharged engine, but above all to optimise the car's energy recovery and energy storage capability," the statement said. "In terms of its concept, the engine is very much comparable with last year's, but its architecture has changed significantly, necessitating numerous adjustments to the chassis." © Sauber
  18. Looks good Tommy. I like the big Fuchs.
  19. Your work is amazing as always Randy but so is your reference material. Not sure where you finding all these great photos but keep'em coming.

  21. I have one made by Scale Repro's Plus
  22. Mercedes F1 team completes shakedown with new 2015 F1 W06 car Thursday, January 29th 2015, 18:10 GMT Mercedes has completed the first shakedown of its 2015 Formula 1 car, the W06, and released the first proper images of the car with which it will defend its titles. Both Nico Rosberg and world champion Lewis Hamilton tried the F1 W06 Hybrid during 18 laps of running at an icy Silverstone. The session, which was classified as a promotional event under F1 testing restrictions, was brought to an early end when a blizzard set in. Mercedes had earlier released teaser videos showing the car in action on its Twitter feed. The car will be formally unveiled in the Jerez pitlane on Sunday morning, ahead of the start of the first 2015 F1 tests. Mercedes dominated the 2014 season with the W06's predecessor, winning 16 races and the constructors' title, and finishing one-two in the drivers' points with Hamilton and Rosberg.
  23. I'll keep posting my WIP threads and I hope others will too. I like being able to converse back and forth in real time while the build is ongoing. In addition you get to see a lot more little steps along the way in a real time thread. Post build threads tend to include only mayor subassemblies and leave out a lot of the details. However it is not a bad idea the get a little further along on your WIP before you start posting to make sure you are still excited about the build and will hopefully finish it. And if everyone waited until the build was complete we might never get to see any of Ace-Garageguy's WIP and that would be a real shame! Can't comment on magazine article builds since I have never done one
