  1. Here ya go: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70954&hl=
  2. That would be a backhalf. The term refers to only modifying the back half of the chassis to accomadate the narrowed rear end, suspension, and most importantly wider tires. A full tube chassis is just that. None of the original chassis is used and a new one is fabricated out of round tube stock front to rear.
  3. I have good luck soaking gluebombs apart in that LA Awesome degreaser that the dollar stores carry. Takes a couple days but it seems to work fairly well and doesn't even cloud the clear stuff.
  4. The only possible issue I see is that it doesn't say that the fan motor is intrinsicaly safe. Not to say that I wouldn't use it myself, just be aware that, unless it specifically SAYS that it is intrinsicaly safe, it's possible that you could have an explosion hazard with flamable solvents and aerosols. For those that don't know, intrinsicaly safe means that the motor is sealed so that it is explosion proof.
  5. "Limite skills" he says. Pfft. Definitely a modest man, I'll give you that!
  6. Hell, my 43 year old ex wife just married my daughter's 21 year old ex boyfriend. THAT made my daughter real happy!
  7. I won't even watch the video. I'm enough of a car nut that it would litteraly stress me out seeing rare cars rotting away.
  8. Everything said here is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. ESPESCIALLY this statement.
  9. LA's Awesome Degreaser that I get from the dollar store works pretty well too.
  10. Nice! This would be a great idea for a 1:1 car.
  11. This is AWESOME. Needs to have a tutorial done. In fact, this is something that the magazine should do a short bit on. Very cool!
  12. Your brother in law got his azz reamed by your sister in law for not stepping up in the first place. Plain and simple. If it was me I'd just take pleasure in that thought and be done with it.
  13. '99 Explorer, 99 F-250 SD Powerstroke, '00 Nissan Altima (wife's), '84 Fiero, '89 Subaru Justy, '67 Mustang Fastback pro-touring project
  14. Most of the stupid things I do usually end up with me getting stitches, an MRI, or a cast.
  15. Might try some light brown construction paper to use as gaskets. The scale might be closer.
  16. The speed that you build at with the amount of detail you include blows my mind. This thing is awesome!
  17. I had a real one of these in high school. Had a 425hp 427 and an automatic in it. Wish I had that car now.
  18. FYI, you can strip that chrome off the plastic by soaking the part in bleach. Doesn't hurt the plastic at all and it works pretty quickly. Check the tips and tricks section. There is a thread on it.
  19. You can get that type of flake at pretty much any place that sells automotive paint. They call it micro sequin.
  20. I cringe every time I hear some little puke call nitrous that. And they didn't do us real car guys any favors with making the whole world think that nitrous oxide is explosive. I blame that show for the coffee can muffler and retarded rear wing craze too.
  21. I'm 43. Don't remember when I started building but I can remember blowing some of them up with firecrackers and using them for target practice so I had to have been pre-teen. Then when I WAS a teenager I discovered real cars and girls. Got back into the hobby about 20 years ago when I saw a car that had been detailed by someone that was really good and have been into it off and on since then. Seems like I tend to pick them back up when I am recuperating from some injury I sustained doing something stupid. My current wife (number 5 ) encouraged me to dig them back out in February after hernia surgery. She didn't want me getting to bored sitting around healing up because I tend to get into mischief when that happens. I have found that after all these years I really lost a lot of dexterity in my fingers. Likely the result of beating my hands up making my living working on real cars and a few years that I worked in the oil and gas fields of Wyoming.
  22. Curious if you stripped the chrome off the plastic first since you didn't mention it. If you didn't, you may want to try that paint of something that isn't chromed just to be sure that the chrome isn't acting as a barrier between the paint and the plastic to protect it from the solvent in the paint.
  23. You should submit this to someone at GM. With all the new retro styling popping up with the manufacturers nowdays this would be a great addition to their lineup. Could possibly be some financial gain in it for you too.
  24. I've used the method in this link several times and it works very well. In fact, I now do this with ALL of my kit glass because it seems to be more in scale. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58564&hl=windshield I should add that the poster in the link uses epoxy putty to make the buck, which absolutely will work, but my wife makes polymer clay beads and jewelry and I use her scrap clay to make mine with good results too.
  25. Bummer deal. Who did you get that PE kit from? I'd like to have some just for the calipers and rotors.
