Looks good. One thing that I need to point out is that your fuel tube on the driver's side going between the carbs should also have a line feeding it. Those carbs in 1:1 are duel inlet.

Chevy Citation… stop laughing
Pro Wrench replied to vwdave92's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought one of the companies made a Citation X hatch? -
Hope the guy that clobbered that christmas tree had his checkbook on him. Every track I've ever raced at they make it a point at the driver's meeting to tell you that if you do that, you pay for it before you leave the premises.

The kit itself is pretty cool detail wise and your work is outstanding but I gotta say, the car this model is made for is one fugly piece of iron.

I vote for the Chevette. I wish I had one of those models myself. I drove one all through high school for my beater car. The poor thing literally had lived at that school its entire life. A kid bought it brand new in 1976 and sold it to a new freshman when he graduated and that cycle continued until I owned it and I graduated in 1988. By the time I got it, it had been lowered, had Centerline look a like wheels with 285 rear tires, had a header with dual exhaust, and had been painted yellow with black SS stripes. My contribution was a big bowtie Chevy symbol etched into the rear widow. The car looked kinda cool but it ate starters like they were free. Anyone that has ever had to change the starter in one knows what a pain in the ass it is. I got to where I could do it in about 20 minutes but finally just gave up and started parking it where it could be roll started. It also had absolutely NO floor on the passenger side. The only thing between the passenger and the road was the carpet and that was pretty ratty. It was always good fun to find the biggest puddle in town after a good rain and hit it at about 50 to soak the person sitting in the passenger seat. Sadly, its reign at that school ended with the girl I sold it to that got it upside down. I recently saw one here in town that has a V8 in it and it got me wanting another one to do the same thing with.

32 Ford Twin Hemi Skull Rod "Mr Sinister" Finished!
Pro Wrench replied to TFchronos's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Cool project. What size material did you use to make the frame? I need to make one for a Willys and the stuff I'm using scales out to 2"X3" but it looks too small to me. Yours looks more like what I think mine should. -

My dream job right there. -
I put all my models and their parts into plastic shoe storage tubs then cut one end off the box top and stick it in there so I can see whats in the tub without having to open it and throw the rest of the box away. My dogs LOVE cats. They find them very tasty!

Sounds like a good candidate for a custom chassis.

Project: "Inferno" 49 Merc - *Update p17* 3/13/15
Pro Wrench replied to JasonFL's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The quality of the custom touches you are putting on this thing is so clean you are gonna have to display it next to a box stock one just so people will realize just how much you have done to it. THAT is the mark of a master. Awesome. -
liquid cooled " T.F. STYLE" alchohol or gas burning engine?
Pro Wrench replied to fiatboy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I have no idea what you are saying/asking here. -
I'm a street rod and drag/muscle car guy at heart but there's just something about these old speedsters that I like. Cool project.
-
You should have to WORK on them. I did a transmission job on a new Mini about a year ago. WOW! What an absolute HUGE pain in the ass! You litteraly have to remove EVERYTHING forward of the firewall. Including the sheetmetal.
-
I guess I didn't realize they have been out that long. I stand corrected.
-
Wow. They sure came out fast with that kit. Those cars are barely in production.

technical questions about T.F. dragster engines
Pro Wrench replied to fiatboy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Not likely. They are driven off the front of the engine. -
Wasn't there a Ford Courier and/or a Chevy Luv also?

Might want to switch to another method for filler. Maybe talcum powder or even flour
-
It looks like the sail panel/C-pillar on the new one is wider than the old one? Could be why it looks funny? Or it could just be an optical illusion.

Well, got laid off Monday so now I'm a full time job hunter but my profession is ASE Certified Master Auto Technician. When I'm not doing that I'm also a Safety Specialist and Consultant for the construction and oil and gas drilling industries. In the past I also owned a custom snowmobile performance, developement, and fabrication business. -
One question: is someone using glass cleaner to clean the glass on the case? Most glass cleaner is a mixture of ammonia, alcohol, and water. When the alcohol and ammonia evaporate, it can attach to other surfaces. Particularly if the surface is charged with static electricty, which is very common when you get dust and plastic together.

63 Avanti....Finished moved to under glass
Pro Wrench replied to Space Cowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
One of the customers that we have at the shop that I work at (I'm an ASE Certified Master Tech) has a 1:1 of these that he brings in for us to work on. COMPLETE pain in the ass.
