    Monkee

that car is cool , I am a Huge Monkees fan and I don't know why I have not bought that kit
  4. I want to get the Tamiya 1/20 scale 1979 Porsche 928S put I am a little gun shy , the last Porsche I got from them has a fake half engine it will never run that way , does this 928 have a full detail engine and opening hood , Thanks
  5. Thanks for the nice words ,,,,,,,,, a little more progress I may redo the BMF on the radio , for the most part I am liking it , the radio knobs I made from aluminum
  6. you can take all the fancy hot rods with a zillion dollars in custom work and as impressive as they may be , nothing beats an old school simple hot rod , nothing
  7. that is one cool looking hot rod !!! that is one cool looking hot rod !!! that is one cool looking hot rod !!!
  8. starting to go toghter , comments welcome , good or bad
  9. ok thanks guys , I used the testors enamel , used tubing to hold them upright , I figure about 2 years of building at this rate lol
  10. I did a search and could not find anything , so , for gauge lens I know folks use epoxy , but can testors clear coat be used also
  11. ok a much improved new gauge with a lot more depth for the face and lens , sometimes it take a few times to get it right , and thunks Lee
  12. Lee , I gotta redo it tomorrow , I am not 100% happy with the gauges ,,, I bought a 3C collet thingie and a quick change tool post , so I should wait till it gets here before I redo the gauges , learned a lot anyway
  13. I think I was back in 1975 when I was like the only sucker to buy the Austin Marina , bought it new for I think 3,500 dollars , sold it 6 months later for 500 , it would not go more than 25 miles w/out breaking down , what a nightmare that was
  14. the best car tested ,, I would say a Yugo , followed by the Austin Marina
  15. I just got a Tamiya Porsche 911 , no engine , , just the underside half engine , I doubt it will run , wish I had known , so I just ordered the Revell Germany 1972 911
  16. thanks guys , ok 1 radio knob is done , but I have to put a black dot on it after ,, the radio knobs are tiny , the marks on the gauges are pen marks when I pushed them in
  17. got a chrome wheel set for my lathe , bling ,,, Pimp My Lathe lol ,, and a few auto's , a 300 Z a VW and a 911 oh and some testors clear and some Metalizer , I had a bad thing happen , I was getting ready to paint and the phone rang and I went back to shake the metalizer and forgot I had the cap off , and the entire bottle is all over my walls and all over a Fender Tele , I was able to clean the guitar but it ruined the pickguard grrrrrrrr
  18. Thanks Glu , I think the decal is what , maybe .0002 thick , plus a little epoxy for the lens , it should be ok I hope
  19. doing decal face , I can't go deeper otherwise the bezel would fall off ,it's just a few thou wall thickness , there is enough depth to do a coating of epoxy to make the lens ,, the bezel OD is .090 the hole in the dash is .074 and the counter bore for the gauge decal is .062 , so I have to make them kind of backwards,,,,,,,, ok the gaugs are finished ,,,,,,,, I have to say I was a little nervous as to how this would pan out , but I am more than happy with the results
  20. I am getting really excited about this build , two more small gauges left to do and on to the radio knobs and such , I want to get those knobs and switches as close to real as I can , but they're tiny , we will see , anyway sorry for posting a pic every 3 minutes
  21. the speedo and tach and clock is done , now for the 4 small ones
  22. first machined gauge to the highest tolerances, we are talking NASA Space Shuttle tolerance , LOL , the pics really don't do this justice ,,, 6 more gauges to go , plus light switches and junk
  23. I am having a hard time hitting the buy now button , a few things are bugging me ,, Micro Mark Micro Mill ,, plus side to this , 60 pounds , free shipping , 500 dollars , down side , no R8 spindle , plus a few other down sides , Grizzly mini mill and Micro Mark are the same machine ,, the Grizz is 705 shipped the Mirco Mark is 750 , free shipping till Tuesday , the down side to these two are the weight 125 plus pounds , I would have to take them apart , but I guess that would happen anyway cause I would paint them and fine tune them , , so my issue is the money , I don't mind spending 500 dollars but when I hit the 700 mark it makes me think , like do I really need this tool , answer , yes and no ,,,,,,, more yes , but more no ,,, let me get to the question , does anyone own the Mirco Mark Micro Mill , the one with the MT1 spindle
