  7. yesterday I was at the hairdresser , ok so I have a few gray hairs , anyway while I was there I saw this tape they use on hair pieces , a double sided tape and it's mega thin and extra mega sticky and I thought , this is perfect for attaching the guitar string trim and sure enough , it's perfect
  8. I used .010 coated guitar string , and it's a coated string so it wont rust , looks like chrome trim

  10. I hope paint shows up today , I am at a standstill but I made the insert for the dash from .010 styrene and BMF the way I am going to attach the wire to the styrene will pull it tighter and bring the wire joint tight also and look a lot neater than the pic , and I hope that the photo-etch kit has the Corvette emblem I removed from the dash , if not oh well , oh and I need a better camera too , uggggggggg
  11. seeing a build thread on a Tamiya 66 Beetle made me dig out a few old pics of the last Beetle I had back in 1990 , I was driving home from work and I pass a house with a bug for sale , so I stop and take a look , the paint was faded and the running boards and bumpers were bad but the interior was 200% mint , like new , so I had to knock on the door , oh the car had 26,000 miles on it , anyway this old guy was asking , get this , 125 dollars for it and the car was bone dry , no rust or rot , just bad bumpers , so I had a friend at a VW dealership and got a killer deal on parts , new bumpers , running boards door handles hub caps and a few other things , total cost if I recall for all the stuff was 150 dollars ,, so my brother and I spent the weekend repainting the car , material cost for that was 55 dollars , anyway on Monday when the car was finished I took it to the market and when I came out there was a guy waiting and he wanted this car and I didn't want to sell , ( I think he was connected cause he made me an offer I could not refuse ) $3,500.00 ,, stupid me sold it

  16. ok finally something on the bench , on the dash I am removing all the molded gauges and switches and using wire and aluminum , ( lathe next week ) oh except for the radio on the passenger side I have the trim molding done and the ring made , need to make the center out of brass and alclad that or BMF , not sure yet and epoxy that to the ring , now I think I have a cool way to glue this stuff in place and if it works I'll tell how I did it , honest comments welcome , no sugar coating please , now to remove the gauges and switches
