  1. My wife and daughter have an interest in my modeling. Just when I get to a hard to do phase they will come in the room and start talking to me, moving things around and the worse case thing my wife did, bumped the table I was trimming BMF on causing the blade to slip across the model toward my hand. When I yelled she got mad at me. I think if I were to go to another country to build my models, they would follow me to share in the building experience.
  2. Been reading up on Future. Did a search and found a lot of good info, but.... I just want to confirm that Future will work with the paint I'm using. I'm using Dupli-color auto primer and paint. Is this good with Future. Can I put the decals and BMF on first and then dip the body? That seems to be the easy way to go, and the hardest way to screw it up. One coat or two? Thanks. Just went further in this thread and found the vidieo that answered all but the Dupli-color paint ? It sounds like brushing it on is almost fool proof.
  3. I removed the foil from my 61 Impala and used the tape method and the scribe method. Both gave much better results than I first got. The tape was tricky to line up but easyer to trim, while the scribe method was the easier but my knife slipped once. I need to try the t shirt method to help brace the as holding the body on my right leg and cutting with the left hand isn't good good when the blade slips. Thanks again for the great tips.
  4. Thanks everyone. Good tips here. I'll give them a try. Even though I've only done a couple of cars, this stuff just make a model look great. I consider it a must do now.
  5. Anyone one have any suggestions on trimming BMF to follow the trim lines? I can do a pretty nice job around the windows but not on the body trim. I go nice and slow but the blade seems to have a mind of its own. Maybe helping to cause this problem is the fact that I'm holding the model in my hand when I trim it? How do you folks do such a nice job on it? Thanks.
  6. OK. thanks for the tips. Now back to it.
  7. I bought a motor on E-Bay that is perfect for a kit I'm doing. When it arrived I found that the intake manifold is glued on backwards. I stuck it in the freezer for awhile but it still won't come apart. I don't know what glue was used on it. Any ideas?
  8. I'm doing this kit now. I just started back modeling now that I'm retired. I found this kit and a 66 Impala SS396 kit for my first two builds as I owned both cars in the past. I have some pictures of both car so I'm making both of them as close as I can to the pictures as I can. Nice job on yours.
  9. I just got back into modeling now that I've retired. I'm using Duplicolor Car paint and clearcoat. Should I clearcoat first and then apply the chome foil or apply them after the clearcoat. Thanks.
