  1. The 62 is close in color to a wagon I had my senior year of high school. It was a great sleeper car, 327, four barrel and dual exhausts. I surprised a lot of cars in that one. Nice job on all three cars.
  2. A lot of good reasons listed here. I grew up in the heyday of model building and my father was also a modeler, more into old ships. I built before I went in the service, and when I got out life got so busy with work and raising a family. After a divorce in the late 70's I stared building again for a while, but going back in the service and starting a new life and family took my time away again. When I retired I needed something to fill the time and once again returned to building, so I started for the 3rd time. I still have some models I built in the 70's one of which I need to restore, and several kits I never built from then.
  3. Almost done. When I finish it tomorrow I'll take it outside and get some better pictures. It looks like the hood is resting on the front on the radiator cross piece is. Maybe a little file work. I also need to finish the exhaust pipes so they come out under the rear bumper.
  4. Also found decals for the Tameless Tiger from Jules Meyers Pontiac, Tigertown, Santa Monica Blvd, West L A.
  5. I'm not sure where they were from, But I remember Maxon Pontiac running a blue GTO from the days of my youth. my Arnie Beswick drag cars show Gay Pontiac, Seltzer Pontiac,
  6. Super nice job Dr. Cranky. After a long lay off from building I started looking into returning to model building. I found a bunch of your videos on Y-Tube that helped get me started again. Thanks for the motivation.
  7. I went to the one in Hazleton PA Monday. The have a few nice kits including the 66 Ford and a 40"s Chevy pick up with an I 6 motor. I have a 50% and a 40% off coupon to use.
  8. Nice job. I saw the original movie at a drive in near Camp Lejeune NC. I drove a 66 Impala SS with a 396 motor and a four speed. When the movie was over, people with fast cars were burning out of the drive in and flying up and down the road. Something told me not to jion in (hard to do when you're just 23) so I took my time leaving. I think every cop in east NC were a half mile up and down the road. They made a lot of money that night.
  9. Interior almost done. The instrument panel on the dash were almost not there so I sanded them off and made a custom panel using decals. Now finished. The first coat of Future is on the body, and the trim is done. Crager mags are now on the front, but I'm not sure if I'll stay with steelies on the back or use Cragers there, too. If I use Cragers I'll need to file them down a little to fit the tires. I'm waiting for some sponsor decals I ordered for the back window, and a battery tray to mount the battery in the bed. It's a good time to wash some of the chrome pats while I'm waiting. Getting close now.
  10. Painted. Interior progress.

Nice, great color choice and paint job. It looks like it glows.
  12. Tom, This is the first time I foiled the fine trim details on a kit, and I painted it before I read you reply, but it worked out ok. I did another coat of primer before I I finish coated it, and the lines only show when the light hits just right. I'll do a better job next time. Thanks for the tip.
  13. The motor is ready to go in. I decided to try wiring on my next build. It's starting to look like something now.
  14. Here's a Falcon Ranchero I'm building now. The kit. My take.
  15. Started doing a little more detail work om the motor. Here's a picture before I started. Progress so far. I'm working on spark plug wires, I have a prewired dizzy, but haw do you get the little holes in the head to slip the wire boots in? I tried wireing one motor but it didn't work out so well.
  16. Here's the new stance, not what I wanted but the best my parts box could do.
  17. Working on the stance so I could fit some big tires on the back, and I used a straight axle on the front, but the stance was all wrong for the gasser look I want. I had to come up a different way to lower the back some and raise the nose higher. Now I'm waiting for the glue and paint to dry to see if what I did will work. The rake in the picture did look cool though.
  18. I always liked the Chapparrals. I have one I bought in the 80s and started to work on it, and after I painted the body, and put it away. Some day I'll strip the paint and start again. They were a popular slot racing car back in the day.
  19. Phone booth!! That's what I thought when I saw it. I don't have the skill to chop it, although I think it would be easy to do with this kit. I found a chopped version of this car in a parts box left in my house that I want to do something with but a lot of parts are missing. I have the body, grill windows, and frame but that's about Maybe a good winter project for me. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. Great job.
  21. Starting on my next build. I found a big block motor in my spare parts that fit with just a little trimming. I'm going with a late 60s early 70 street /gasser look. Is this a 428 or 429. It came from an AMT Shelby Mustang GT 500? I'm not a big Ford guy so I'm not sure. I'm work on the stance now, and I found some tires and wheels that I think will look good.
  22. Almost done. The rear exhaust pipes were turned down, but they stuck out too far, so I cut the down turned part off. I was going to cut a short piece of the pipes off and reglue the turned down ends but I lost one. Back to the parts box for plan B. I found a couple of radiator hoses to further detail the motor, and I'll be Under Glass.
  23. Todays work. May be done tomorrow. All that's left is gluing in the grill, windows, floor shifter, and exhaust. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with the kit system that comes out on the side under the running board or duals out the back. I think the duals.
  24. I have another kit of this. I bought two of it at Ollies on sale a few months ago. When I start the other one I'll see if I can work it out. Thanks for the advice.
