  1. Nice job.
  2. I painted the hod yesterday, and while I was doing that i decided I didn't like my custom exhaust coming out under the door opening, so I did a different system up. I messed up on the pipe length on one side, but I'm not worried about it because it's not the shiny side. I'm going to brush Alclad on the tips. and put it all together tomorrow. I'll still have to buff and clear the hood, but it will be done enough for pictures
  3. Nice job. I found one of these for cheap at Ollies last year. I hope I can do half as good on my kit. This spring this was parked in the parking lot at my house. It's owned by a judge in town, and I want to build mine like this.
  4. Looks good!
  5. Got the front lined up pretty good, But I smeared glue on the front edge before it dawned on me that it would be easier to glue the hood strip to the grill that to the hood. Now I get to strip the hood for the second time.
  6. This is the problem I found with the grill/hood fit. There is a chrome strip that still has to go on the front edge of the hood but it would still have been bad. I think I worked it out but I had to take the model apart some to work on it, and knocked a few other small parts off.
  7. Snake45, I'm going for a street/strip look retro look. I should have done a bit more research on the tail lights. They will be easy enough to fix. Horsepower, I will leave the rocker panel trim off. I wish I'd of known about the side trim because for some reason I had a tough time foiling it. I think my foil is old as I've foiled other builds without any problems. Thanks to both of you. I glued the grill in yesterday but it's lower on one side than on the other so I'm going to have to do some work on it.
  8. Close to done now. The inside and outside mirrors are on along with the side windows and decals. I had to move the tach to the steering column because it hit the windshield. Now I have to wait for the rain to stop so I can spray a little paint in a container and touch up the dash where the tach was. The next picture will be a finished model.
  9. Great color!!
  10. I've bought a couple of motors, a hood scoop collection, and some wheel and tire sets I wanted there. I don't have a big spare parts collection yet. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable price for part that I've lost from a kit. I just hate the thought of wasting a kit to get one or two small parts that I somehow lost.
  11. Below is the the body after compounding. It's starting to look like a car. Before I took this picture I used 2 coats of Novus polish I may try regular car wax next time. The front and rear windows are in and I put some decals on the rear windows like we did back in the day.
  12. A picture to see how the rocker panel trim looks. One vote to leave it off. Anyone else have an opinion? A couple of shots after clearing and before buffing. I plan to start buffing on Sunday when I get back from grandson #2's first birthday party.
  13. I didn't forget about this, but the chrome spay didn't get here yet. This item was ordered from the west coast as the cans in the above post. I sent the seller a message yesterday, didn't get a reply yet, it's been about 27 hours now. I know they got the message because the tracking number I received Monday showed no movement until around 2 AM today. The shipment isn't due until Saturday, but the order from RPP wasn't due until Friday but got here Monday. The really sad part is that the RPP cans cost a bit over 9 bucks with shipping, and I got a discount for a combined order, where this order was close to 16 bucks. Even though the delivery isn't due until Saturday I think this is poor service. At least I've had time to read up on chrome stripping.
  14. It finally stopped raining so I got to clear the body today. First some pictures of the touch up on some other assemblies. Chassis all done except the exhaust that will go on during final assembly. Interior done. Engine compartment done. Body finally cleared. Now a wait for a few days so I can buff the clear and touch up the body.
  15. I have to give a thumbs up to E-bay seller RPP Hobbys. I ordered the base and clear coats from the around noon EST Friday. They shipped from CA that day and were here in todays mail. Super fast!!!
  16. The clear coat and base coat shipped from CA Friday, and the chrome spray shipped today from the same state. All should be here by Saturday. I'm going to find and strip a grill so I'm ready when it gets here.
  17. Psychographic, I haven't opened the box so I don't know how the Ford looks.
  18. Sure will. I have a couple of grills in my spare parts that I'll try it on.
  19. Thanks for the help. No Hobby Town around here, but there is an R/C shop very close. I'll check him out when I need a resupply.
  20. Thanks a lot. I just ordered the black base coat, spray and clear coat for it.
  21. I've read in a few threads about Spaz Stix or Alclad chrome spray which would be great of me as I don't have an airbrush. I've used Alclad II with a brush and it worked out OK. but I think the spray can would be better. I've searched several hobby vendors but nothing turns up for either brand in spray form. So I'm not sure if I'm looking for something that isn't made or if the threads are referring to air brushing as spraying. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  22. got these in Hazleton PA. They also had a 1/8 scale Lindberg AA fuel rail jobs that looked interesting. It featured two cars, one with dual engines and one single engined. I didn't get it as I'm not into that scale.
  23. Got these at Ollies. They also had a 1/8 lindberg dragster kit with two old school AA rail jobs. One had two motors and one with a single motor. It looked interesting, but I'm not into that scale.
  24. That is one heck of a job. Just beautiful!!
  25. Car show season is mostly over, so I'm back to work on this one. When I had a little down time I started to BMF the window trim, but I had problems and some how I nicked the paint. I was frustrated and let the model sit for a while. I started in again late last week and decided to use a paint stick to do most of the trim, and foiled the strip down the side of the car. It came out ok I guess, but I want to see if I can clean up a couple of spots to get it a little better. I used some Meguiars compound to buff the hood up a little bit. I don't know if it will show up well in the pictures, but I took a couple of pictures from different angles to try and show it. I had to do a little more paint touch up and after the paint dries out some I'll clear coat the rest of the body and maybe finish it up over the weekend.
