That will be nice. I started working on an 84 to match my real one, and put it away for a while. I'll keep an eye on yours and maybe that will motivate me to get on it again. Here a picture of my 1:1 She has 232,000 miles on her.

I seem to have forgotten how to copy and paste. This is my second shot a doing the plug wires, not counting the old days of sewing thread and hot needles. My firsts with this kit were, using a pin vice, doing the tire stems thanks to the pin vise, and the first time I used stock wheels and dog dish hubcaps instead of custom wheels. This is also the closest to box stock build I've ever done, only the distributor cap and red line tires weren't in the box when I opened it.

Just finished this one, I forgot to do the radiator hose, so a bit more to do. Here's the link to the build thread.

Thanks. I'm posting pictures Under Glass now. Thanks to all for looking in and comments and sugguestions.

Thanks. It's pretty much done so these will be the last pictures in this thread. All that's left is to clean the body body up and apply another coat of future, and I'll post pictures in the Under Glass section. I like the way the air cleaner sticks up into the scoop. Looks cool. I did mess up a few things. I forgot to put the interior rear view mirror on, and to paint the bottom of the interior that shows on the chassis , so now I have a nice white spot showing. I may be able to get in there with a brush. The biggest problem was the fit of the chassis causing the front to sit higher than I like. I thought I had worked that out, but when I glued it up it seemed higher. I think the issue is caused by the front of the bottom of the interior pan being too thick. I did sand it down but not enough. It could also be the fit of the glass, but the gap between the glass and the top of the dash looked pretty good. Thanks for all the tips and compliments from those who watched this build.

Nice job on that. I like the color.

Maybe it'll be done on Sunday. The black stripe makes a big difference in the light colored paint.

1.1 cars that got away
Johnt671 replied to l88 chevelle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i had a 57 Bel Air with a 301 motor, fuelie heads and three 2 barrels and a four speed tranny, a blue 65 GTO with a 68 389 motor and a four speed that I sold for $150 and a dark blue 66 Impala SS that was stolen and totaled while I was in the Marine Corps. Also a nice 61 Impala convertible. I have models of all but the 57. -
Beautiful color. Who carries it? Thanks.

Got a little more done. Some small parts. Engine compartment is shaping up.

Some progress. While gluing the windows in I dropped the passenger side vent window, and when I moved the chair back to look for in, I set the chair on top of it and broke it.The windows are in and I'm working on some of the small parts.. The chassis is done. The rear end is almost done. The nose is almost done too. I found that the hood was warped so I've got it sitting with so weight on it. Thanks. Someone is sending me the black stripe for the rear. That will look better then the white that's on there now.
-
Your right, it does look good in flat black. I'm glad I did it that way. Thanks. I was concerned about the glass raising the body up. Idid some more sanding on the bottom of the interior, and it looks like there's enough room to fit the glass, but we'll see. I can't tell for sure but it looks like the tires aren't centered in the fender well, so I did a little sanding on back part of the inner fenders meet the fire wall but I may have to do a bit more. Check the picture out below. I lowered the rear end down to stock level, and I like the look more than the lifted rear. I screwed up on the black stripe on the rear and had to use the white on. The black one looked much better. Any one got a spare black one? When I took the picture of the interior I saw the console was crooked, so I took it out to fix it, but liked the look without it, so here's the really final interior picture.
-
Yes. I was going through a box of spare parts I found in our attic when I moved in and found those carbs. I'd never seen them before so I set them aside thinking I'd post a picture of them to find out. Now I wonder if the other part is in the box but I didn't know what it was. I started a thread in the General about a junk yard built That I plan to do when I finish the 68 Charger I'm working on now. I think I'm I'm going to take a crack at doing a story around the build. That should be fun.

I'll be following this. I have this kit in my stash, and was also thinking street rod instead of gasser.

I'm back from a visit with the grandkids.and slowly getting back to work. I'll be finishing the foiling tonight and start gluing the windows in. The interior is done. The exhaust lines up pretty nice with the headers so it looks like that will work out well. I've been doing some sanding on the floor of the interior because something on the floor pan seems to be keeping the front of the frame from going above the rocker panel. I'm also thinking about taking the lift blocks off the rear. I think the car will look slicker in the stock position. Any thoughts on this?

Dual 68 Chargers - a new build and a restoration

Nice. -
This is where it is now. Looks like a car now. A little detail on the firewall. I had to take the fan off the motor because the radiator wouldn't fit the fan. Maybe the smaller fan in the kit would have fit. I may try that but I'm not to worried about it because the fan won't show much anyway. I liked the bigger fan because the way I glued it on the fan would spin. Just a cool little feature.
-
The interior is now close. I stripped the seats and they'll be painted again tomorrow for the last time. I found an issue when I went to glue the motor in. The motor wouldn't go all the way down on the mounts, so I started sanding. After so sanding one side fit nice but the drivers side was still off. A closer look showed the mounts on the frame aren't even. I didn't want to put the whole car together and then find out the hood wouldn't fit right, so I wound up cutting some of the drivers side mount off to get a better fit. It seems pretty good now.

1968 Revell Charger help
Johnt671 replied to jsc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a thread in the workbench on this kit, but I'm not that far along yet. I did notice that the interior floor is slightly warped,, tilting up on the drivers side front corner. I just did a restoe on an old Cobra model that sat too high in the rear. I had to file some of the attachment points at the back of the interior to get a more realistic stance. I think Snake45 has a point also, as I don't remember these cars sitting real low. -
Thanks. I bought those tires at a Hobby Lobby in Ft. Meyers FL two years ago. these were the last set I had left. Time to look for more. I've giver up on the seats so they are soaking again so I can do them in all black. The motor is almost done. I'm going to try and glue the vacuum advance on the distributor and that will be that.
-
This s what I'm trying to do, but my hands aren't steady enough. I'm hoping I can carefully brush the flat black in around the silver pleat I think this will work out pretty nice.

It looks nice. Great color and the engine is super.
