  1. Thanks for the comments. The body is in brake fluid now, and I'm working on the the other issues. Tom, I think I have the inner fenders worked out. I put the interior on the frame without gluing it in and then glued the inner fenders and the radiator together and let it dry. Several test fits look like this will work out. Now I can glue the tubes to the radiator and glue the firewall end in when I glue the interior in. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. A little progress, interior done. Big steps backwards. I've been working on mounting the motor, and found a set of headers that would work, or so I thought. I had to get the motor lower in the frame because the outlet for the headers were too high in the frame. So I lowered the motor and used a little heat to bend the headers a little, then realized the headers weren't going to work plus the motor was so low that the generator was hitting the inner fender so I had to raise the motor back up again. I found a pair of stock 283 exhaust manifolds that were a good fit, plus the motor height wouldn't matter, and a fan and pulley assembly that mounted the generator mounted hi;gher than the one one I had. As I sat back in relief the the problems were solved I saw that I had worked around the front fender area that I rubbed the paint off of the edge of the fender. Now I need to do a few more coats of paint.
  3. Thanks fort the tip Alan. That sounds like it would be way beyond my skills though. I got to paint the body and get a couple of outside pictures. The hood has three coats on wet look clear on it. It really looks like a car now.
  4. The lowering kingpins makes it lower in front. Much better. Working on the interior.
  5. Thanks everyone. I picked some white paint for it yesterdayand may go back at it when I finish my 51 Chevy build. The chassis is soaking in brake fluid now.
  6. Seeing how the color looks. Seeing how the interior looks. Test fitting the motor The front sits to high. I'm going to change to the lowering kingpins.
  7. It finally stopped raining for a while so I got to do some painting. The Testors gloss white paint is junk, and I threw it in the garbage. Now I have to strip the door panels, but I came up with a new paint scheme for the interior that I think will look nicer then my plan. This is the body color. Primed the body, and found it needed more sanding. Maybe some color tomorrow if the rain holds off.
  8. I'm taking a break from my Chaparral build and doing this one. I normally do my builds as street and strip or street hot rod but the custom version of this one looks so slick I'm going to do it this way. I'm using this motor rather than the six because I want to do a late 20's early 30's hot rod with a six. I stripped the trim off the body and opened the rear wheel openings like the box shows. Playing around. I need a day with no rain so I can start painting.
  9. Thanks superbike-shaun. I really like these cars and need to do it right.. I'll bump this up when I restart it.
  10. I've put this one away for a while. I can't do the job as good as I want and was getting frustrated with it so I need a break from this one.
  11. Great job. I love the color.
  12. Those wheels look nice. Maybe for the other kit. New pictures. I've never paint a figure before. so this will be fun or not!! Primed. I taped in intake in to see how it looked. Drivers first time in the seat since the kit was hatched in
  13. Thanks folks.
  14. I'm doing a simpler kit for now. These cars were my favorite race cars back in the day, and I raced many of them in 1/24 slot cars. While it's a simple kit I'm going to work on my detailing skills to make it nice. The nose is a little rough. The first trial fit. It kinda looks like a Batmobile? Years ago I bought this kit and started it, then put it away. I wasn't skilled enough to do it justice. It's build time is coming soon.
  15. Nice to see this one back.
  16. A couple of firsts for me on this kit. First time I polished the colored molded kit, and my first box stock build. I left the top of the trailer loose so I can get some luggage to fill it up.
  17. I'm going to check the Hazleton PA store tomorrow. I went up late last week and found a Lindburg 31 Bugatti Royale Victoria that I picked up. But still no big dump of kits.
  18. That's good to know. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks.
  19. Thanks for the looks and the kind words.
  20. Thanks, When I got the Kurtis the box referred to two kits that would come with the trailer hitch, an older woodie wagon and the 50 Ford pick up.Since I hadn't built a pick up since before I started shaving I went that way.
  21. Thanks for the kind words. Here's a closer shot of the truck. Here's a close up of the motor. It's a parts pack 427 Ford with a resin carb. I didn't have headers for this motor, so I had to use manifolds from a 302 Mustang kit and use heat to get them to line up on the 427. This was my second shot at using a pin vise to do the spark plug wires and the first non-hemi motor I've wired. Next come the boots for the plug wires. I missed posting this picture earlier.
  22. Super nice job.
  23. I finished this a while ago and was waiting for a sunny day to show the gold flecks, but that's not going to happen here. I have a thread in the workbench section if anyone wants to see the whole build, This is the two kits. I got the Ford for Christmas and the racer at Ollies a few years ago. We got off to a bad start with a bent frame, but I got it to go back into shape. It all went together pretty good. I was amazed at the detailing of the Kurtis motor, the wash really made it pop. Thanks for looking.
  24. I've given up on a nice sunny day for pictures. We've had a couple of sunny days, but I was busy. For the last couple of weeks the sun peeks out but that's been it, and then it rains. Here's a finished picture, and I'll post more in the under glass section. Thanks for following this build.
