  1. Arnie's cars are done now, but the pictures are lost. I'll be posting new threads with finished pictures soon. I'll give you a heads up when I do. I like to do builds like these cars because I grew up with them, and saw a lot of these guys race back in the day. It was a great time for racing because the cars were see on the street, I was around for the early A/FX cars, until I went in the service in 69.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be lower too, and the pictures on the box show it lower. I double checked the instruction sheet and it was assembled correct according to them and checked the on the part and found the spring was right on top of the axle, so that was also good. I also found that most of the spring wouldn't show if I cut it down, so that's what I did. it looks better now.
  3. I started his yesterday. Planning to do my first rat rod with it but it will be in a transition to a nice truck. I was thinking about using a Caddy parts pack motor, or the hot rod flathead motor from the 50 Ford P/Ub but i'm going to use the hot rod version flathead four that came with the kit. It sits to high and needs to be lowered. I can handle the front but I'm at a loos how to lower the rear so far. I'd welcome any ideas about this.
  4. Thanks W-409 and 10thumbs. I really wanted this one to come out nice so I took my time with it. I have a Ramcharger Dodge that I want to build into a diffrent version, plus a Dyno Don 61 Impala and a 62 Bel Air to do a Hayden Proffit build. I've built an Arnie Beswick Catilina that are done, plus I made a Pontiac Tempest funny car into a an Arnie version. Thanks to Photobucket those pictures are go, but once it get cold here I want to start getting new pictures of my older builds.
  5. Looks sharp. Nice build.
  6. Nice. Great job detailing that little guy.
  7. I picked one up at Ollies a few months ago. I haven't opened the box so thanks for posting the pictures.
  8. Nice work on it!
  9. More done pictures. I put a picture of Bud beside his car in the display case. He was quite a guy. He flew for the Navy in the Korean War and the Air Force in Vietnam. I found a story that said he drove an old school A/FX funny car from where it was built for him in Ohio to his shop in PA. he said he had to be careful at the toll booths since the car had open headers, and the state police were often near the tool booths.
  10. Just finished it. I had such a hard time with the back panel and bumper that I had to step back for a while. More pictures tomorrow.
  11. Some new pictures with a new phone.
  12. 10thumbs, no problem with the pictures I did file the posts down a little, but I didn't want to go too far so they may still be too thick. Rick, 10thumbs said to use a front tire from a 1/24 scale model to fill the front wheel well. I still need to see what I have. My picture has the kit front tire, but I think his picture is the 1/24 tire.
  13. This is pretty close to the final stance. In the background is one the the cars I pre painted for this winter.
  14. This explains why the kit was so low since I started with the Color Me Gone kit. They did nail the stance for this car with the kit. Thanks.
  15. I got paint on it today. Now a few days to dry then foil and do the decals.
  16. I did a little work on this, but nothing worth posting. I filed the posts a little as suggested, but I don't have any 1/24 tires. I'm almost done with the running around.
  17. I think it would be great just for parts. I'm slowly building a spare parts supply, but sometimes I need a part to replace a missing or lost part but I find it difficult to have the time to make a list of what I have to offer as trade. I'd be happy to pay something for what I need plus postage for some ones part that I need. I'm not as sure about selling kits, but if something was rare enough it would be okay.
  18. Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll work on them.
  19. After a lousy month I got back to work on this. The interior is done. the motor is in and maybe paint today.
  20. Thanks. Since I have alcohol I'll try that first. Who makes Super Clean?
  21. Jack, Jim, Jose or Stoli? Only joking, thanks, I'll give it a go.
  22. I started a Chaparral a while ago and messed it up. I had to strip the body of paint and then used a too old sharpie to do the black around the windows. Can I use brake fluid to strip the paint off the clear parts or will that make a mess? Thanks.
  23. I tried to do some research and found a lot of pictures under Yahoo pictures, but they are a mix of other Dodges I found some of a red stripped down interiors but there is no way to be sure they are the Honker. I did paint a pair of low backed buckets but they were wider than the pictured seats. I think I'll go back to them to keep the build as close as I can the the real one as my abilities allow. I appreciate your help with this. Do these look better?
  24. It looks like you finised it today Very nice.
