  1. I e-mailed inquiring about the status of my order this weekend. I got the "just went out in the mail" reply. I'll let you know when it gets here. Jimmy
  2. The Green Monster lives! Arfons Racing announces the premiere of its modern recreation of the legendary Green Monster #19 front-engined turbine drag race car. The new Green Monster #19 will make its first public appearance Sunday, May 26 at Quaker City Motorsports Park outside of Salem, Ohio as part of Quaker City's Nostalgia Classic. http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-racing/news/25194-green-monster-19-turbine-dragster-to-debut-at-quaker-city-nostalgia-classic I see a new build in John Teresi's possible future. Thanks, Jimmy
  3. That looks really great, and I agree the 4 cylinder is way cool ! Jimmy
  4. John, I've always admired your talents and enjoyed your posts at another board I am on. Your posts seemed to slow down as the site's main interest is show rods. It's amazing the things you create, but mind blowing is the speed at which you build. I'm curious do you ever slow down ? You are truly an inspiration to not only me, but many others here as seen by the accolades of your friends. Thanks for your time, and sharing your great models ! Jimmy
  5. I just got off the phone from talking to Randy. He was very pleasant, and is going to sell me the body I was wanting. Hopefully everything will work out ok ! Thanks for all the input, and I'll keep you posted on how long it takes to receive it. Jimmy
  6. Thanks ! We've been here since the fall of 1979. My daughter and her family live in Wiley. That area has grown like crazy in just the last few years.
  7. Any chance of you being a "middle man" I'm looking for the Flaming Frank Fiat Dragster that;s on his site. I called three times today, and he was never in, and a nice gentleman that answered said he would have him call, but nothing's happened yet. Jimmy.
  8. I believe they have been "bead blasted" It leaves the metal with a matte finish, and a slight texture. Very fine glass beads are shot through a spray gun inside an enclosure. A lot of times it is done to remove old paint, and rust, to prepare metal for painting, but i bet in this application it is done for looks. It makes for a very attractive finish. Jimmy
  9. Off to a good start on it ! Looks very intriguing. Jimmy
  10. Hello, my name is Jimmy Wilson from Plano, Texas. I've recently retired after 27 years from the City of Plano. I've been amassing mass quantities of kits to build in retirement years, but am trying to get some things caught up around the house to appease my wife ( who graciously encouraged me to retire). I was an avid modeler in my teens before those "other things" got in the way. I'm titled a "looker" I see, or might be considered a "lurker" I have been so impressed with the incredible work on this site, and have been trying to learn from every post I've seen. I hope to find some friends here, and have been trying to not just dive in commenting on every post to avoid turning some people off. I've already received some help on a topic I posted from a couple of members, and appreciate it. I apologize for waiting so long to introduce myself, but I'm not totally up on my" forum etiquette", and I'm sure everyone will understand. It's not easy being the new kid in class. I am looking forward to learning many more skills and techniques, and hopefully having something worthy of being on here soon, Thanks ! Jimmy
  11. I stumbled across this today and was floored by the re-releases for the coming year in addition to the already published catalog. The Little Coffin, Dave Deal's "Glitter Bug", The Slingster Dragster ( the Sizzler re-branded) among a few that got me excited. It's nice to be able to obtain some of the ones I missed in my youth without breaking the bank, and then wondering "should I build it or save it?" If this has been posted already, please excuse me as I'm new to the board as you all can tell. I've recent;y retired and am anxious to get back into the hobby I dearly loved as a kid. Oh the kits I trashed as a goofy kid, but $ 2.25 compared to twenty something dollars today made it ALMOST not so stupid. Oh well hindsight is 20/20... I've been so impressed by the incredible craftsmanship on display here, and asspire to maybe get in the same neighborhood. The bar is already set very high. Here's a link to the Revell catalog I mentioned http://downloads.hobbico.com/catalogs/2013-revell-mid-year.pdf Thanks, Jimmy
  12. I've e-mailed a couple of times about a body I would like to order. Does anyone know if they are normally slow to reply, or should a person just print out an order form and mail it with a money order ? thanks in advance ! Jimmy
