2021 IPMS Nationals Kit Information
Jimmy Wilson replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Are they worth something? I had bought quite a few for the tires and wheels, but haven't done anything with them. -
I messaged them on Facebook about the Triumph, Harley, and Honda Drag Bikes. They replied really quickly, and unfortunately they believe Revell Germany has that tooling.

Well, I have no reason to make it up. I guess I should have stated the time frame. It came from Perry's but it was in 2014. It was ordered in the middle of 2012. I had given up, and written it off, and then one day a box appeared in the mail from Perry's.

I waited well over a year for a "Flaming Frank Pedregon" Fiat dragster. After countless calls to Canada with excuses like "I sent that kit out two weeks ago, and it must be caught up in customs" one magically showed up in the mail with some bonus stuff. I'd never order again though.

Altered States Resin
Jimmy Wilson replied to Jimmy Wilson's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I finally received an email from Chuck. He told me he has been in hospitals since September 8th. Went in for surgery and caught COVID in the rehab facility. He said he had been placed on a ventilator and it affected many parts of his vital organs. He is recovering, and said it took him two days to remember how to use his phone. Try and keep a good thought for Chuck, as he is a great guy. He befriended me after a few purchases and he produces quality work. He stated it will be a few months till he gets back in the workshop. I know I'll be looking forward to that and being able to purchase some more of his products. -

Thanks for the suggestion Casey. I had actually texted him and e-mailed. We had corresponded a while ago. I haven't heard back and was concerned. I was curious if anyone in the group might have more insight. -
Does anyone have any information on Chuck Mier? I haven't seen anything on eBay from him in quite a while.

Fast Freddy 1966 Chevy C10 Pro Mod truck build....

A lot of his bodies were used by slot car racers. They produced some really nice products. I also have a VW made by the company. -

It's a really old body that was from "Flash Point Motorsports" I have one stashed away in depths of the hobby room. The pictures I found on Facebook were from 2013, I can't remember when I purchased mine. They've been out of business for some time. -
The QuickAluminum arrived today. It was a lot larger amount than I expected. Thanks again for sharing the information. Your build is looking better every new post.

I've used 91% Alcohol to smooth JB Weld after it starts to get real tacky. Thanks for the tip on the water. Looking forward to receiving mine. Your model is looking really great. Nice styling changes.

Thanks for the tip on the "Quikaluminum". I found some online with free shipping. Seems vendors on Amazon were second party and all wanted around $8.00 shipping. This vendor accepts PayPal and has "guest" check out without setting up an account. (The photo is not a link to their web site) https://www.quikwood.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6009685

Could you please post some current photos of it? Thanks ! Jimmy

I ordered from him, and it took a while to get my stuff. It was as if he was selling stuff not in hand. It was getting close to the time limit Paypal allows to file a claim for undelivered goods. Finally after mentioning filing a complaint I received my stuff. He had me call him, and he talks a good story, but I doubt I would buy anything else from him. If it was stated , the items will need to be poured that's one thing. In stock sales would be better at least on eBay.

The rear fenders and headlights really take that car up a notch. Looking forward to seeing more.

The ‘other’ mag is stopping publication
Jimmy Wilson replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I called them today to find out my options (this was before I received the email) and they told me about the FSM offer. I had already subscribed to it, so I guess it was ok. I asked what other magazines were being cancelled and she told me, a beading one, and Garden Railroads. I asked if it might go just digital, and she told me no. They blamed the pandemic and "changing tastes". That makes the fourth magazine I subscribed to go out of publication. Hot Rod Deluxe, Car Craft, Street Rodder Deluxe bit the dust earlier this year. -
Tim, thanks for the reply and the suggestions. Regards,Jimmy

Tim, incredible work as always! I've seen people using "renshape" but I do not know where to purchase some. Any ideas for sources? While I'm seeking sources I've searched high and low to find some "tin plate" I believe it's called. I must have called every printer I could find a number for. Congratulations for accolades on your job of building the Bantam. It's one of the most detailed pieces of art I've ever seen. I'm always excited to see your next post of progress on your cars. Regards, Jimmy

Right place at the right time. Usually works out the other way for me, "a day late and a dollar short"
