  1. This was spotted at the 2014 NNL East show. Kudos to the builder for taking on the challenge.
  2. "So if two threads on this styling joke are better than one, then THREE threads is really tops, huh? This is why the original wing cars are so collectable and coveted today. People absolutely hated them back in 1969 and 1970, and so they sat on car lots for 12+ months at a time. Chrysler refused to buy them back, so the dealerships started pulling the cone nose and wings off, and replacing the front end with parts off the stock Chargers and Roadrunners. Hindsight is 20/20. Who knows.....in 40 years when a four cylinder car will be the biggest motor car you can get, these will be selling on Barrett-Jackson for millions. LOL PS to the moderators. The quote option is not working.
  3. So sorry Joe, didn't mean to give ya a heart attack. No, that is a pic of a paint stripped Camaro that I got off the net. Here is mine taking a Purple bath. Good news though. I have passed the depression stage of having to do this. I just convinced myself that I could have done better getting the paint flat, so it's OK now. LOL
  4. I hate to say it guys, but....... Plus this............ Equals this....
  5. The bike, the plane, and the Tank are all great guys!!! I got a wrench in my spokes on my Camaro. I thought I was almost done with the paint on the body, but something didn't look right with the back quarters, so I looked at a few pics of the 1:1's and there it was. The decals that come with the model are not complete, and they instruct the builder to paint below the decals, and somehow blend the paint into the decal, so it looks like part of the decal. Huh? I sure hope I bought the right color white. All masked up to try to blend the white paint with the decal. And a quick pic with it's first coat of white on the rear quarters. Another couple of coats, wet sanding, and more clear, and hoping the white paint blends with the decals.
  6. Correct. Good catch Art. I was waiting to see if anyone else knew the facts. I love the mystery that surrounds this car.
  7. "You ready Roy?"...................... "I was born ready," Awesome, awesome, awesome truck.
  8. Watch out. They will sue you for copyright infringement.......LOL. That thing is coming out Awesome!!!
  9. Thanks Guys. Yeah Joe, I used Micro Set, and it worked like a charm. I have the Micro Sol, but didn't need it. Those decals are very user friendly. Being the big Kiss fan I am, when I saw this pic.................. It reminded me of this one......
  10. Great Work Guys!!! There is a lot of talent here. I just want everyone to know that I am still a runner in this race. Thank the heavens I have close to a year to finish this. I have alot going on at home, and various other reasons (excuses) for the slow production on my part. But I will finish this on time, and give it my best. I was able to get the decals on it. Not perfect, but not bad for my first set of decals ever. One coat of clear over the decals was applied, and I will spray a few more coats on after a light wet sand to remove some dust that settled on it. The pic below shows the three sections lining up quite well. They meet at the trunk seem lines. No skill here, just plain good ole fashioned luck.
  11. Great commentary and a fantastic job done on this model. Ed Roth was a master at his work, and way ahead of his time. Just the other day my girlfriend asked me "If you could meet any car builder/designer, which one would you want to meet?" I didn't even have to think about it. Rat Fink!!!
  12. These are just a few of my favorite Danbury Mint models
  13. According to the Danbury Mint website, this model is now sold out. If you wanted one, but sat on the fence, they are selling on eBay, but at steeper prices than Danbury was asking. Two sold for $310, and this one just sold for $339 (with a bloated shipping cost to boot). The prices seem to be going up. Of course you will see the usual eBay sellers trying to get millions of dollars for them ....... I scroll right over those listings
  14. Absolutely L-O-V-E this bodystyle. I was waiting for Danbury Mint to do this year, and they could have got alot of different variations from this body style. Questions. Did the fat rear tires, tubbed tub, and those awesome gem headlights come with the kit? Nice work.
  15. Yup. I keep forgetting that's a '60, because I was wishing for a '59. I like the headlight setup better on the '59. The Neo was about $80, and the Spark was about $60.
  16. If you are a Flat-Top fan and collect 1/43 scale models, these are for you. Details and paint are fantastic.
  17. I am far from an expert, so I go on youtube and find some great 'how to paint a model car' videos. I use a clear coat after I have put down 2-3 coats of finish paint. I use 3200 grit wet sand in between primer and finish coats, and 3600 grit wet sand in between my 2 clear coats. When buying your can of clear, it comes in a shake can that looks like a can of spray paint like the color cans, but it will have a clear cap on it, and it will say 'Clear' on the label. The pic of the Camaro is my latest project. I posted the pic for you so you can get an idea of what the clear does. It received three coats of primer, 3 coats of finish, and only one coat of clear. I have to let the clear dry another day, and I will use 3600 grit to wet sand, and then another coat of clear. It will look wet when I am done. Hope this helps.
  18. These Matrix models are really Fantastic. Check out the chrome trim around the trunk lid, and the beautiful interior.
  19. Looks good Manny. Hope it does good on eBay for ya. Can you post the eBay item number for us? Or is that breaking any forum rules?
  20. Joe, that plane is really taking shape. I wouldn't know where to start with that one. I am a big fan of progression pics. Alright Guys, believe it or not, I have been working on my Camaro. Since this will be a full photo-etched project, I had to get rid of the molded in windshield wipers, door handles, and the molded in Camaro script on the trunk, so I got my dremel and sandpaper, and went to work. I then put a couple coats of primer down, sanding in between coats. Last coat of prime, sanded one more time, and ready for first coat of finish........... Second coat of finish on with a sanding in between. The spoon was treated to a coat of primer, two coats of finish, and one coat of clear with no sanding. So the car should look a lot better than the spoon. The color is V-E-R-Y hard to pick up in pics. Maybe one more coat of finish, then one or two coats of clear. Suggestions are welcomed.
  21. Danbury has really gifted us with some real Beauties over the years. When they slowed production to a halt, their limited editions were selling for $150. Their latest,(and last) model, the beautiful 1935 Ford Coupe, is listed for $250.00. I have about 100 or so of them, so if I factor in the extra $100 I spent on this model, that is like adding a single dollar to every other one I bought. Not bad in my book, considering some of the models in my collection are worth at least twice what I paid Danbury Mint for them, and some even more. My Bullitt Charger, for example, one has sold on eBay for $1200.00 (not my personal model) I had more, but sold off the low-tech stuff (and made a tidy profit doing so), and now only have the models that came from (what I like to call) the Golden Age of diecasting, when models were rid of the dog-leg doors, and went to hinges, photo-etching was a must, and they just got awesome. Models like both the wonderful '54 Cadillacs (hardtop/'vert), the '59 Pontiac, both the '58 Pontiacs(hardtop/'vert), the '57 Cadillacs(hardtop/'vert), all the woody wagons. The '58 Chryslers. The two '55 Chevy's(hardtop/'vert), the second Gen and '64, '65 Thunderbirds, the beautiful '47, 48 Buicks, and lest we forget the striking '56 Lincoln Premier's (hardtop/'vert), or how about the two Packard Caribbean's (hardtop/'vert), or have we forgotten so fast of the two outstanding '56 Buick's that Danbury gifted us? How about the '49 Olds Rocket coupe, or the '48 Chevy Fleetline? And those are just some of the jewels from the '50's. I would be a fool if I forgot to mention the classic '36 Packard that belongs in every diecast collection, or the first Ford fitted with a V8......the 1932 Ford Coupe B., and life wouldn't be so merry if I didn't have my '37 Stude Dictator coupe, and the new '35 Ford fits right in with these stunning vertical grill cars. I hope I haven't bored anybody yet, because I have yet to mention the Hotrods, like the Little Deuce Coupe, The Ala-Kart, The McMullen Roadster, or the Norm Grabowski's Kookie Kar. I also have all of the under-appreciated pro-street cars. I also have every Danbury Mint C-3 Corvette, including the Pro-Touring and Owens Corning racer, 13 in total. And don't let me get started with the muscle-cars, let's just say I have all the good ones. Did Danbury ever make a bad one? I own all the models listed above, and then some. I am just trying to make a point here, and that to me, the extra $100 that I spent on the very last Danbury Mint model was well justified. It will be destined to be a highly collectable model, and I just couldn't live with myself if I didn't jump on it. I have made that mistake in the past, and ended up paying dearly for it.
  22. This car came out beautiful. Two questions.... In your wip thread, you showed pics of the decals. Are you planning on applying them to this quarter miler? And excuse me if you posted and I missed them, but I did not see any hood off pics of the motor. I am a big fan of Ford semi-hemi motors. The other would be the 427 sohc.
  23. Thanks Joe. Much appreciated. I must say what a great group of members hang out here. This place is pretty cool............... I feel like I am breaking the rules in building just a car, so to keep me somewhat in the category for this build, I will add a model to go with the Camaro. Since the Baldwin cars were track ready street cars, I will build and put the Camaro up on a custom race hauler. I will modify an AMT Ford C-600 Stake Bed tilt cab truck into a car hauler. My plans are to somehow incorporate the extra Baldwin stripe decals to the truck, and spray the cab of the truck with the same paint as the car. If any one has any ideas they would like to shoot my way, please do. Joe, if you would like to add the truck to my entry subject, feel free, and thank you.
