  1. Nice job Mark This is a sharp looking car.
  2. Tonys 72 Chevelle Amt 72 Chevelle kit modified MPC cage and underhood bars.Opened wheelwells flared them to match photo of car. Bandit resin flat hood spare parts seat.Cut fuel cell from Mpc Nascar chassis.PPP wheels and tires. Scratch built spoilers and overflows on qtr panels. Decals by Dave Van.
  3. It would look more like my GTO under neath. H&M frt welded to stock rails with truck arms added in back. All this is speculation however because I've never seen pictures of the cars suspension. This was standard practice for GM and Ford cars from the era.
  4. No the chassis in my GTO was built by Nichels but was built with a Holman Moody frt clip welded to a GM frame with long truck arm rear suspension. The cage was kind of a cross between a Nichels design and a Holman Moody design. In those years the car had to run the same springs design as the factory car used. If it had coils in the frt and leafs in the rear that's how the race car had to be.
  5. Those both look to be Nichels built Chrysler chassis. The stripped down one looks newer.
  6. Hard to find took me 30 years to find a good one.
  7. All I have to says is. You my friend are really good at this model building thing!!
  8. This is cool I'm watching this one. Go man go!
  9. Next is to stretch a Thunderbird chassis. A small notch must be made in the frame to locate the firewall the same distance forward as the chassis was stretched.
  10. First things first is to make the wheelwells look like the real car by adding some small flares.i also removed all the old primer.Lastly primed and modified the rear of the frt wheel opening to look like the picture.
  11. I bought the body awhile ago but couldn't find the old Cherry Run Decals anywhere. I just had a set of decals custom made because this is my favorite stock car ever. Let alone it is a Montego GT one of my favorite cars ever.
  12. i will resize some more pictures and post them tomorrow.
  13. This is a old Bandit Resin Montego GT that I'm going to do as Dicks Puro racing car from the 1975 Daytona 500.
  14. Larry the cutaway drawing doesn't show frt or rear suspension so you can get away with standard operating practices of the day Here is a pic of the bottom of your Grand Am Body on a TBird chassis. I stretched this chassis 1/16 inch to get the wheelbase right.
  15. I built HB Baileys 73 using your body on a TBird chassis I think the hardest part was getting the roll bars to fit. I'll look at it tonight and post some pictures.
  16. The AMT Thunderbird chassis gets you close to what a 70s cup chassis looked like. The most accurate way to build it would be to do it like my Pearson GTO. Which would be to take the front frame and suspension from the TBird kit and graft it to the stock rear frame and use the truck arm rear suspension from the TBird. The kit I use is a mid 90s AMT NASCAR Thunderbird. I usually scratch build an earlier dash . The chassis will also need to be stretched for the correct wheelbase.
  17. I guess so but this car only raced the one race at Riverside. It was sold and tucked away after that for I think about 18 years. The car now does vintage races with almost all of its original paint still intact.
