This is a MPC Torino on an AMT Thundirbird chassis. Boss 429 engine from a Polar Lights Talladega. The body was modified to better represent this car. The fuel filler was moved to the right side as this car ran at Riverside.I cut the rear spoiler off and modified it to lean back further. The headlight block off and screened Opening on the left frt were also switched . Scratchbuilt Frt spoiler , air cleaner , headrest , and bumper fairings and fillers were also added. PPP wheels and Powerslide decals. Custom mixed dark blue and white paint. Added some camber to both frt wheels for that vintage road racer look. Also added drip rail moldings that MPC left off for some odd reason.

I'll start it off . My tips being Pictures find as many as you can. Sometimes you will have to be satisfied with only one however. My second tip is STANCE. Really study the relationship of the cars wheel tire combo to the body.Specifically to the wheel openings. Look at how the wheel openings were modified on the real car. From about 1966 forward almost all of these cars had at least some opening up of the frt wheel openings and sometime the rears also. Tim

AMC first NASCAR win.Mark Donohue 1973 Winston Western 500 at Riverside. Not finished yet but thought I would show some progress pictures of another stalled project finally coming together. I got this resin body a year or two ago. It was pretty rough to say the least. When it was cast they must have pushed the inside mold to far up . The roof and hood added paper thin. Couldn't even touch them without cracking the body.I smeared some fiberglass body filler inside to stiffen up the body.Filled plenty of pinholes and general rough surfaces. Spliced two AMT Thunderbird chassis together and paddled it on Monogram NASCAR tires with PPP rims. Thanks to Dave Van for the decals.Hopefully I'll have this done in the next week or so.

I tried to build this car just as Nichels Engineering built the real car. Used a frame from a Polar lights 64 GTO because it was separate from the floor pan.Cut off the frame at the firewall and attached a Holman Moody frt frame section. Put Chevy truck rear control arms on the back . Modified a Polar Light Talledega roll cage to fit. Then I filled the fender and hood scoops. Opened up all wheel openings and flared the frts. Moved the grille forward made the spoilers and narrowed the rear bumper.Painted Plum Crazy and White with Billy Goochie decals. PPP tires with AMT NASCAR tires. Stock GTO kit engine with AMT NASCAR 351 Cleveland heads reshaped to look like Pontiac RAV heads.Lots of other scratch built bits and pieces.Almost forgot that I moved the back wheel wells back1/8 inch to stretch the wheelbase as was common on GM cars in NASCAR at the time. This is a SMH resin 70 Roadrunner on a Polar lights Charger chassis. A lot of work was done to the rollbar to fit the earlier Roadrunner roofline better. Wheel wells were opened and reflared.Decals came from Dave Van wheels and tires are PPP.. I plan to redo the marker block offs so they don't look so clunky. Tim

Quick Overview: Revell Starsky & Hutch Torino
yellowsportwagon replied to Chuck Kourouklis's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The one glaring problem with this kit that bugs me is the front windshield shape. 44 years ago Johan got their Torino body almost perfect. I know I have owned one.Why did Recall put a flat spot on the top of the windshield front edge when it should be rounded.Compare the picture posted before with the Johan and Development body next to each other. Why don't these guys catch these problems. Tim
