  1. I'm a little boggled at the amount of effort it probably took to make a Cadillac that ugly
  2. That would make a very nice model. Going back for a moment to the iea of a stock '26 roadster, even if there may not be a lot of demand for a stock version by itself, but what about a 2 in1 version? Model T's are pretty tiny compared to a postwar car, and the stock T chassis is pretty simple, so you could probably do stock and custom options like AMT did way back when with it's '25 roadster in the amount of mould space it would take to do, say, a modern Camaro. You have something that appeals to both the rod and stock modelers, you can use the extra parts to justify to price, and the box doesn't look quite as empty as it would with just one tiny T version.
  3. They still have a presence in the Great White North, and they've been my favourite since i discovered them in the 70s. Thanks for the info.
  4. i totally agree. When something turns one of these: into something like this: That's vandalism, pure and simple.
  5. I used to watch it when it was on Speed, but the cable company wants extra for Velocity, so not any more.
  6. The 300C is probably one of AMT's nicest kits, and the subject is one of Virgil Exner's better efforts, this is one that deserves to make a comeback.
  7. From the Jalopy Journal. More pages at https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=36665
  8. The Firebird III is defintiely one of my favourite concept. It's pretty much the distilled essence of that whole idea of the "dream car" and even 60 years later, it still screams "the FUTURE!". Defintiely one I'd like to see in kit form. This has been covered elsewhere, but Revell originally wanted to do more concept cars, but GM wanted them to do production cars. Imagine if the folks at Revell had gotten their way, we could possibly have seen a Firebird III from them.
  9. The red one is hideous, to be sure, but as far as the white one goes, it's not like anyone is forcing you to use the decals.
  10. Seriously? If ugly decals were a deal breaker, the model kit industry would have never made it out of the 50s
  11. NASCAR's not my thing either, but that doesn't mean it isn't anyone else's thing. It looks very nice, especially for they price they want, and I wish them luck.
  12. I picked up an MPC '32 Imperial with an eye to turning it into an L-29, but I decided to build it stock. The L-29 is a beautiful car that deserves to be a model.
  13. There's a couple there I've thought about, though the Little T is really close to the Ivo roadster.
  14. Though if you're going to go weird and old, this Sunbeam-Mabley would make the usual attempts to "dare to be different" look like pretty weak sauce.
  15. Cute., Maybe the Weinermobile would appeal to some. BTW, your last "joke" suggestions got me collecting references for a Leyat Helica, so thanks for the inspiration.
  16. Definitely following this one.
  17. Outstanding work!
  18. The '32 Chevy would also be nice for the hot rod crowd who want a different kind of Deuce.
  19. Yep, wanting anything other than what's already on the market is stupid, so we shouldn't bother. Yet, as we've seen, personal taste does factor into what gets made into a kit, so I guess the reason I keep putting my two cents in on the off chance somebody slips up and thinks it's a good idea despite their superior judgement. Am I wasting my time? Possibly, but it's my time to waste, and every once in a blue moon, somebody does slip up and offer a kit I want. Don't enjoy reading these threads? It's not like anyone's holding a gun to your head, is it?
  20. You're never going to please everyone. I have zero interest in rat rods, muscle cars, "annual" kits, or whatever generic malaisewagon your father had, but some people do, and good for them. The question isn't whatever everyone will like, because it should be pretty obvious by now that everyone likes different things, and you can't please everyone. The question is whether enough people want a Blankity Blank Sportster to justify the cost of putting it production. I know there are a few who like to think they speak for all of us, but it practice, all you can do is let them know what you want, and maybe enough people will think it's a good idea.
  21. Yeah right, that's the real problem, that the hobby is too cheap. Gotta keep the riffraff out, y'know.
  22. There's a good point right there. If everybody who's name is on an Indy car wants a cut, there go all the profits.
  23. It's easy to talk about taking risks with other people's money. All the sane, can there really be fewer modelers interested in the Foyt Indy car than say, The Depth Charger?
  24. That '33 coupe is a handsome machine that deserves to be in kit form. but bringing back the '32s would be welcome. The Astro I is just dead sexy, and I would buy one in a heartbeat.
  25. It's not Indy, but if you want a nice front engine open wheel racer there's Heller's Talbot-Lago GP, which was recently rereleased, but you're right, it's some pretty slim pickings out there.
