  1. I had an uncle that used to refer to the bright red, good looking cars, as "Arrest Me Red". It always stuck with me and thought it was funny. Lots of Willys out there right now but this one has been fun and I wanted to share. Body and chassis are rattle can duplicolor or plastikote I think it was... Nice Hemi in this kit. I used a Parks wired distributor and Slixx blower belt decals.
  2. Thanks Carl! This is after getting the interior in and just a few contingency decals on-I didn't want to over do it.
  3. Thanks Carl and Pappy-I didn't realize it was that easy I guess! Newbs-I decided on this blue...
  4. Its been a little while but I laid some blue paint, started some foil, and robbed a couple racing seats and a few other race inspired interior items.
  5. I wasn't entirely sure what to do with it at that point, but there was a recent article I read about NASCAR's early days. This, along with a spare NASCAR kit, inspired me to whack the roof off, straighten/fix the pillars and windshield frame, and start mocking it up. Plans are to use the NASCAR drivetrain, wheels, a roll bar, dash, and racing seats.
  6. This one took a little different direction for me. I bought this kit on clearance and after getting it home and open, I found the roof and A pillars squashed, but no damage to the box.
  7. That does have an automatic option doesn't it? I'll check it out-thanks Chris!
  8. Good looking beginning-looking forward to more.
  9. Looks like a great start Carlos-I'm sure your Dad will be very pleased.
  10. Does anybody know where or in which kit I can find the shifter in the picture? This particular one is in a 67 GTX but they were similar in other cars-I just can't seem to find anything thats not a 4-speed.
  11. Very nice build RB-I like the color choice also.
  12. Such a cool and different build-nice work!
  13. Really like this one-can't wait to see more!
  14. Incredibly realistic-nice work!
  15. Beautiful build-you nailed that one!
  16. Welcome Justin from another NY'er!
  17. Thanks for the compliment AND the help on this one Carl!
  18. You're pegging the cool-meter-I like this one!
  19. Lol-it really never looked that good Ed. I spent many weekends growing up in the wrecker in the infield of our local dirt track un-tangling cars and picking them out of the weeds so you can imagine how it looked most of the time! The guy that Dad worked for had another one that had the same paint scheme as the Indy pace trucks-I'm lucky enough to have a picture of Dad driving that at the previously mentioned dirt track-I'd love to replicate that one someday!
  20. Love everything about this one-engine choice is killer!
  21. Nice work Carlos-some great info and helpful people here-welcome aboard!
  22. Thats a real nice build-love your attention to detail!
  23. The decal work was quite interesting and sometimes very trying, as this was my first time attempting to make my own. I used some crude methods I thought would work, but in the end turned that portion over to my brother (Moparian). He worked, what is in my opinion, magic. I just wish they laid down a little better, but I'm pleased for a first go-round making our own.
  24. Thank you all very much! I made some minor adjustments to get the three-lever controls from the Holmes set up onto my body, and added BMF to the hydraulic rams and some wire that I thought looked pretty close to accurate for the cable.
  25. I got suggestions from several people about using the boom and winch from the snap together kit as it is a Holmes that appears to be correct for what I'm trying to replicate. I'm all ears when it comes to suggestions from you guys, so I picked one of those kits up and started cutting and swapping. I ended up using the Midnight Cowboy body, and used the boom, hydraulic rams, and winch from the the snap together kit. I'm glad I did because it looks way better than my first attempt at moifying the original set up.
