  1. I too build for myself. I have been building for roughly 40 years now on and off. I have gotten into super detailing my builds....weather it be Semi trucks...Dirt cars...Pavement... and even Military. I just started going to local model shows within the last three years, and not bragging, but I have done very well. I use to go with a friend.....and I use the word "use" to loosely. It got to the point that he was rude and disrespectful about others models at these shows. He thought that his stuff was top notch, I will say he is a good builder, but to walk around and look at competitors models, and degrade them.......well that got a bit old and disgusting with me.He just acted like he had this chip on his shoulder, like his stuff was better than everyone elses. When awards time rolled around......and he got beat by some of these models that he had put down......he was totally miserable on the trip home. complaining the whole way home......it was aweful! Needless to say, I dont have to deal with him or his attitude anymore. He is a member on here, and Im quite sure he will read this, but I dont care. Modeling is suppose to be a fun hobby and guys like him ruin it!
  2. Has anyone here tried out those new 2014 Resin Nascar bodies from Mikes Decals? I recently bought the Powerslide SS body...... It is very nice! No bubbles or imperfections anywhere! The new 2014 Nationwide Chevy Camaro was just released .... And I just got that in the mail the other day..... and it is just as nice!...... Can't wait to start on them!
  3. David's truck is a first class example of what a "Real" cement mixer looks like. It has that classy Peterbilt look. Front discharge mixers don't even resemble a truck of any kind.... Im old school I guess!..lol
  4. By far the best mixer I've ever seen!.... Plus... It's a Peterbilt.... Doesn't get any better than that David! Great job and thanks for the info on my excavator.
  5. I did a scratch built Tony Stewart Dirt Latemodel.... that I put on Ebay.... awhile back and got $460.00 for it. I'm currentley building a Tim McCreadie #39 Sweeteners Plus Dirt Latemodel. Probably after I take it to a few shows, that too will probably be put on Ebay after it has earned its keep...lol!
  6. Yeah.... That car alone is worth more than 20 bucks..... It was a woman seller and I don't think she had any idea of what some of those kits are worth..lol
  7. Thanks guys, I just had to post, I mean..... I know some of those kits are worth more than 20 bucks alone. I just got the new 2014 Powerslide resin Chevy ss and the new Nationwide camaro bodies, so the 2007 kits will come in handy for those builds!
  8. I too have run into my fair share of people that think the hobby I love is kinda childish. You know what......I could care less what they think. Im 48 years old and still a kid at heart at what I do. When these people have seen what I have built and the awards Ive won, well lets just say....they feel kinda stupid for what they said in the first place. With all of that being said..... then you have friends or so-called friends that also build, but are jealous of what you build and your skills. I had a friend that I used to go to model shows with. Every show that we went to.... on the way home.....all he did was complain..because he got beat by this one or that one. It got really old fast. Having an attitude like that takes all the fun out of the hobby. Its suppose to be fun.....I mean... if you win or lose, who cares. I told him build for yourself, not what a judges would like to see. Its what you like and what makes you happy. Well....... I'm no longer friends with this person....and glad I dont have to listen to the complaining because he lost out to whoever..lol! The bottom line is this........Enjoy this hobby that you are in, and dont let the negative people drag you down because of what you like to do. Model shows are a great place to meet new people and exchange ideas as well as maybe learn something new. Heck, at 48, Im still learning new things. Happy Modeling everyone!
  9. Here in Upstate N.Y. every year at this time they have what is called 50 miles of garage sales on Route 90........well I decided to go and hit a few this morning. The second place I stopped at....just outside of Locke, N.Y.............I hit a Nascar model Jackpot....... all these kits were in a big box, all brand new, bags all sealed, and a few the boxes were factory sealed. I got the whole lot for $20.00!
  10. Better yet.... Just go to Teds Modeling. He has everything you need and priced good as well as fast shipping. Ted is a stand out guy.... He won't do you wrong. Bill
  11. Check out Flashpoint resins and Competition Resins for Those parts..... Also Ross Gibson Resin engines. They make some really cool pro stock and pro mod engine kits
  12. Well Heres a few pics with a load of timber on her!
  13. Thanks Tom, I have a few photos I just took with the trailer loaded.... I'll be posting .
  14. gotta finish my Peerless trailer and put a load of timber on, then I'll call her done!
  15. still have some little stuff left......Wiper arms, lights, more decal work.
  16. Thanks Clayton.... It's finally on the home stretch now!
  17. still have the mirrors, cb antennas, lights, and some more decal work...... but its getting there
  18. Thanks Alan, believe it or not this was my first ever attempt at building one of these trailers. It was a fun build and it really didnt take all that long to build. Once I scaled everything down.... it pretty much fell together.
  19. It wasnt to bad on the wallet to build this Alan, just time consuming. I think I have more money tied up in the Moebius wheel and tire sets....(2 sets)... than I do in styrene.
