I am doing a model of Tony Stark's Audi R8 that is in the upcoming IRON MAN film. and his car has a vanity plate that looks like this: i tried acme.com's license maker but the font is wrong as well as the 4 and the lettering is too light. if anybody can make me a plate that looks like that id REALLY appricate it. i do not care if it does not have the stickers in the corners just the 'stamped' parts. and i need 2 of them front and back. if this is in the wrong spot, feel free to move it

Jeremy when you say the KR 2000 car are you talking about the red car that was in the 91 tv movie? if so which version did you get the 91 issue or the the one that came out a few years ago. you can tell them apart by the box art. the 91 issue had gray coloring on the box the re issue has blue in the background. although both kits are the same the major change is in the wheels. the 91 issue has the same rims that were on the real Knight 4000 car. the re issue has a set of rims that look as if they came off a 91-96 NON ZR1 corvette on 16" tires. I have both i did the 91 version as it appeared in the tv movie i did the re issue in black with tan interior and some parts box rims and tires that looked more at home on KITT. If you really want to make the model more detailed pick up a AMT 91 to whatever year they stopped with the kits glue version of the Dodge Stealth which is what the real car is based off of. I used a 91 pace car one with the re issue body shell so it had a full detailed drivetrain.

quick question, where did you get the wheels?

well the elcamino and the wagons all had the same lights from 78-84 that is true as they were inside the rear bumper. the tails on the malibu were different from year to year. 78 they were angled when they wrapped around the sides of the fascia and from the side they looked triangular sort of like the 2ng generation camaros. 79 squared off but had their own design to them and unique to the 79 year 80 same as above but they are more flush looking and have a horizontal line running through the middle of the length of them also unique only to the 80 year. 81 similar to the 79 cars where the red and white lenses looked like they were seperate but were not, also unique to the 81 year. 82-84 the back up lights were relocated to be closer to to the license plate/gas cap cover. the lenses were flush like the 80 year but with a series of small horizontal ridges that were on the lenses themselfs. the 82-84 lenses will interchange on every year EXCEPT the 78 due the opening on the fascia. i hope that helps, i personally hate that they pulled this ######. one guy smashed one of my tails on my 80 coupe and i searched junkyard after junkyard (this was pre internet and PRE eBay mind you). i finally settled on a set of tails off of a 84 sedan and i liked them better than the ones that came with the car. I kept the other non shattered one in case i could find a 80 tail to put it back to original condition but never found one.

What's Everyone Profession,etc..job,
Dave McFly replied to stanleymsn's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I work customer service and billing for a wireless internet company called ClearWire. if any of you guys have ClearWire and are not happy with it, i am so sorry . -
yeah i know that for fact, i had a 80, my buddy had a 81. the only exterior parts our cars shared was the sheet metal and glass even the facsia on the 81 is slightly different as it has a emblem in place of the hood ornament my car had (which i removed and had the 'hole' filled in at a professional body shop). oh and i would add that since the 81-84 cars all had the same tails i would not mind a 82-84 front fascia with the dual headlights as a custom option. i have seen a few 2 door 'bus that had the later model front end and i liked it .

of the OLD cars id like to see the following in no particular order: a 48 tucker torpedo sedan with engine detail a mid 80s boxy ford LTD (think of the police or taxi conversions!) a last of the rear drive V8 powered malibus with inter changeable fascias so you can build a 78-81 (81 was last year of 2 door) and each year had a different front and rear fascia and lights, grilles, and headlight trim (79-84 cars had the same rear fascias, just different style tails) oh and lastly, a Delorean with opening doors! of the NEW cars in no particular order: a GLUE version of the corvette C6 convertible CURRENT version of the ford crown victoria sedan (again think of the police and taxi versions!) current version of the impala sedan currently there is only the 00-05 version as a snapper for kiddies. more if i can think of it, mainly the malibu, the 80s LTD and vette roadster and the Delorean would be great!

i replied but the rims are missing one of the center caps. and they only really work with the cheesy goodyear tires in the kit. the rest of the kit is intact if you want to salvage the rest of the stuff for your project like the following goodies: interior bucket with 83 trans am side panels with separate arm rests and rear seat. more accurate PMD seats (same seats used in KITT for all 4 seasons) a more accurate 'cross fire' V8' you can even see the individual dual air cleaners inside the cover. the amt/mpc car is just a blob of plastic by comparison. true dual exhaust system that has twin pipes and dual mufflers instead of the 'y' pipe into a single pipe to a large muffler and twin tips in the later cars. and the body shell and rear bumper that does not have the ground effects that the later cars had. and the correct rear wing as well. i am not sure if the 91 kit you are using is more like a base firebird than a trans am. basically my kit is like the AMT KITT but it is a targa roof car (was a custom from the factory) instead of a hard top. ill take some pics of the body and contents if you want . since i am almost sure that with some minor mold changes this kit is VERY close to the 91 re issue. just as the AMT re issue of KITT is almost identical to the 83 issue from MPC.

hey, i have a 83 year issue of a trans am kit from monogram/revell that you can use parts from to make that model more accurate like the wheels on the revell kit the 'bowling ball caps' are separate from the rims and the interior is more detailed with separate armrests on the interior bucket let me know and ill part with any parts you need to make that KITT stand out . if you do not want to use my rims there is a trick to making the AMT kitt wheels to 'pop'. step 1: de chrome the rims step 2: sand off the 'arrowhead' logo in the center step 3: paint the entire rim gloss black step 4: using a fine brush and aluminum paint, paint the outer rim and then the 'spokes' leaving the recesses glossy black.

i agree, i plan on doing mine with a viper v10 in the bed with viper wheels and tires and viper seats in the interior

yup

true, but then again the 1/1 car had front and rear seats out of a 04-06 GTO. I do have a GTO kit but im putting the seats from that kit into an older model GTO for a project. I am just going to do my car as if GM offered the concept in the movie BB's color scheme .
-
I had one of these kits back in the day (late 80s/early 90s) if i am not mistaken it was basically a repackaged fujimi kit. this kit from what i remember was SUPER detailed, things like the wheel studs poked through the holes in the rims etc. was this one of the 'enthusiast' series fujimi kits? I almost got one on ebay but it sold for 18 bucks. and i bid on one last week but it sold for 22 bucks and that was not counting the 12 and change to ship it to me .

scott, i too am doing the bumblebee model based on the amt concept camaro kit. the color i am painting my car is tamiya camel yellow ts-34 as for the decals i am getting a set of decals from keith marks he has ones for the concept car. as for the rear plate, i made up one online at acme.com/licensemaker.
-
what I WANT is a resin conversion kit that turns a 67 fastback into the eleanor. i am almost pos that CAL had a project like that that would supply the flairs/rocker panels the hood, fascia, scoops for the rear quarter windows and the wheels and maybe decals. i could have sworn i saw it on the old hobby heaven boards, but i could be just imagining it. i have a 67 GT500 kit from AMT all ready to go .
-
looks good but one MINOR critique, it looks as if you used the 4 spoke wheel from the 05 kit? if so that wheel was phased out by the 05/06 year. the 08 car has the same steering wheel as the Z06 i believe which is one inch smaller in diameter and has 3 spokes. i also believe that same wheel is in the pontiac solstice roadster which is in 1/25 scale but it is a diecast from mastio. other than that it looks nice .
-
i have this kit but i turned it into a replica of Don Johnson's car from Nash Bridges just before the 'cuda kit was retooled into the nash bridges cuda kit .
-
i had that kit but got rid of it years ago, i personally prefer the polar lights GTO which has a hardtop and a droptop versions. the PL kit has AMAZING detail for a snap kit like the separate frame rails from the floor pan and separate gas tank etc, highly recommend it!
