Good Guy Alert!
Dave McFly replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Let me say that George 53 is another 'good guy' I got my 69 Camaro ragtop kit in a few days after posting looking for one. and Kukiholic for sending me the 82/83 MPC 'KITT' body shell so i can make a accurate KITT without having to pay BIG $$$ for a 1st issue from eBay. you guys rock! -
I was at a car show today which kicked ass over 400 cars! I saw 2 of the new challengers one was a 2008 SRT-8 in black with the dark grey stripes on the hood and one was a 2009 S/E V6 in burgandy with no stripes. After seeing these in person I wanna build a model of one to go with my 06 Mustang and I HOPE they are doing a 2010 up Camaro .

Nope, NY makes you turn in your plates when a new style comes out but they do not charge you for the new plates you just go to the DMV fill out a slip and give them your plates and they give you a new set right then and there. now if you had vanity plates you get those mailed to you like regular. and NY the registration and inspection stickers are on the windshield not the plates like they are in california. I will send you a PM with the address I already have a friend of mine making the plates I only need the 'no ghosts' logos for now .

how true most 3rd Gen F cars are hard to find the only one that is easy to find is the 91/92 Formula from Revell and even though the Revell/monogram cars had a tad more detailing like separate arm rests on the door panels and in some kits choice of open or closed head lights etc. the only thing i did not like about them was they had no T tops. that was always the thing i liked best about the MPC/Ertl kits.

nope that body shell is defiantly the 83 vintage. they did 3 versions of this kit original 83 vintage based on a 82/83 trans am 89 reissue shared tooling with the 89 trans am 20th anniversary car (both kits had the trans am logo on the C pillar and TURBO Trans Am on the front fenders and no fender vents) current re issue except molded in gray plastic and clear glass instead of tinted and a few extra parts from the 89 pace car kit it is an almost exact re pop of the 89 re issue. I will send you a PM with all my contact info ASAP!

I was thinking about future projects and I forgot I had a Dodge Magnum SRT8 wagon and i was thinking "this would make a bad ass modern day 'Ecto-1' from Ghostbusters." i remember one guy made a more detailed decal set to replace the crappy decals in the Polar Lights Ecto 1 kit. All i really need is 1/25 scale 'no ghost' logos for the doors and rear hatch and a ECTO 1 plate but the last one is tough as NY no longer uses the old 'lady liberty' in red in on the plate anymore. if there is a way to make a ECTO 1 plate on a current style NY plate that would be outstanding. here is the current style NY plate what I would love it for it to say ECTO 1 but with the little image of the state of NY between the word and the number IF possible .

I was searching evil bay for a MPC era Knight Rider kit mostly for the body shell as only the early 82/83 issues had the front fender 'extractor' vents that were on the real car throughout the entire 4 season run. I have one of the more recent re issue and a 89 re pop of the MPC kit but as it was sharing tooling with the 89 Trans am it had the TURBO Trans Am markings and smooth front fenders. i came across this: what is this guy smoking? so let me get this straight he wants 33 bucks for a kit from 88 that is opened, some parts have been glued and painted. if that was not bad enough he glued the glass to the body shell before he the bars you have to remove to reinforce the front windshield area which is more fragile than the non t top body shells. i want to meet the idiot who would pay his 'buy it now' price oh if the link does not work just type in the item#310023076193 in the search box at ebay.com

well i WAS working on my own version of the Bullitt mustang but i was using the rims/tires off of a Welly 1/24-1/25 scale diecast model of a 05 GT coupe that had the same wheels as the Bullitt. but I was planning on doing mine before ford announced the 08 Bullitt S/E car. the only main difference on MY car is the body will have the quarter window louvers that the 68 car had. and my interior would be all black and the steering wheel rim would be brown like the 68 car. I was gonna paint it Tamiya "British Racing Green". but I may hold off and just get the Bullitt kit. I DO want to get the GT500KR so i can do the "NEW" Knight Industries Three Thousand aka KITT 2.0 from the new Knight Rider tv show coming up.

I would like to put a LS1 or LS2, etc into the new 69 nova SS kit (yup that means the kit supplied 350 will be up for grabs, check the appropriate thread soon). off the top of my head only the C5/C6 vettes have them but they have the transaxle and the 'torque tube'. is there any cars or truck kits that have a LSx series engine?

Sombody hit my 1/1 scale car
Dave McFly replied to Dave McFly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
just to avoid confusion, I own the car flat out, I am only making insurance payments on it . and the so called 'half assed' body guy i am going to is the BEST in town. If i take it to him on a monday i get it back tuesday or wednesday at the latest . I do wish I had a car with REAL bumpers, my 1st car a tough as a brick 80 Malibu coupe which had real bumpers AND a full frame under it. -
"Fast Times At Ridgemont High" 79 Camaro Z-28
Dave McFly replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in WIP: Model Cars
you will also need 2 of these -
I came out of a movie theater and some person smacked the right side of the back bumper. damage was cosmetic and will be fixed soon but I mean come ON i JUST got the car, and i have not even made the first insurance payment on it yet the GOOD news is there was a police report filled out for the 'incident' and the guy or girl who hit me will be taking care of it via their insurance. once I get the check from their insurance company the car will be heading to the local body shop.

How to Confuse an Idiot Part 2

I did a similar project years ago but i used a old Pontiac Banshee concept car kit. in the early 90s there was a new GH comic book in which the original Hornet has long since retired and i cant remember if it it was his son or nephew who decided to become the new Hornet. he had Kato's daughter be the new sidekick (who was just as much of a butt kicker as her dad). they first start off driving the original Black Beauty (he even wears the same outfit along with Kato's). but later on he decides the Black Beauty is too old and slow for todays criminals so he some how gets a new car. the NEW Beauty was basically a Banshee painted dark purple with a green hood and green wheels that looked a lot like 'baby moon discs'. I took my Banshee car and tinted the glass, painted the body dark purple and mixed my own green paint for the hood, and i used a set of wheels from the AMT Ecto 1A kit which i also painted green like the hood. I wish i took pictures of it but alas i was not that good and also did not have a decent camera at the time. now that i am typing this I just remembered I have another Banshee kit in my collection maybe i should build a NEW BB

I was looking at cars on auto trader's site and they had a image of a for sale sign that would look good on a model kit for a diorama. i saved the image and hosted it. just print it out, add your 'phone number' with a sharp tip pen and cut out and apply to your model PS, i was tired when i posted this if it is in the wrong section feel free to move it .

New Ferrari GT California revelaed!
Dave McFly replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
it is well known that the 'california' in ferris bueller is a replica but it was the only clear pic of a california that did not have the fog lamps in the grille like the new car does. I would LOVE a model of the old or the new california -
New Ferrari GT California revelaed!
Dave McFly replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love that it resembles the original california look at the hood scoop and grille on the new car. as for V8 this is true the first FRONT engine V8 ferrari but they had V8s in their cars since the 308 in the late 70s and then later the 328, the all new 348 (which was one of the first flops) it was later tweaked and refined into the GREAT F355 which was the first car to have 5 valves per cylinder. and then the current 360 modena and its updated version the current F430. PS put me down for a model kit ill wait for the usa version of the eventual revell of germany kit -
Dave, where did you GET the Eldorado kit? i would LOVE to do a model of this car but stock (well kinda stock ).

i heard that the latest version of the general lee kit that came out (one that was issued after the film came out but with the tv cast pictures on the box) has the correct window in the rear as it was using the 70 charger body that was in the fast and the furious charger kit. as the 70 charger has the same rear clip as the 69 you just need the 69's front grill and grille guard from the DOH kit. if you cannot find the latest 'general' kit let me know my hobby store has a few of them as well as 'daisy's jeep too.
