  1. Harold. What color is the grill? Some pictures it looks chrome and in other pics it almost looks gold. Been bugging me for a long time. Thanks much in advance. Richard
  2. I did have around 200 kits to be built and was pretty happy. Then last year we got our things out of storage in another state(they had been there since 1992). Every time we went to get them out something always came up to take the money(doctors, car repairs, etc., etc.)I now have over 500 kits and everytime I go to build one I have no idea where to start and end up building nothing. All my new additions are between 25 and 40 years old so I just look. I don't need to buy a kit for the rest of my life but that will likely never happen. Richard
  3. Reminds me of all the cool auto shows we used to go to back then. Love every thing about your model(from front to rear). I can almost hear Chubby Checker playing on the stage. Richard
  4. You stated that you don't want stock taillights. See if you can find the customs in an old AMT 57 chevy kit. It might work(or not?). Worth a shot. Richard
  5. That feeling is a two way street isn't it? You did a real good thing. God bless....Richard
  6. When I got my drivers license in 1960 we had turn signals on the Plymouth we learned to drive, but had to use arm signals to pass the driving test. Thus they taught to use arm signals in the class. Most everyone still used the arm signals at that time. Richard
  7. Hi Darrick. I used to live there many years ago and I got all my models, paints, and supplies at Donovan's. They carry alot more than scuba gear. Check them out and they may know of any club action or modelers in town. Good hunting. Richard
  8. Started taking my grandson to carshows when he was four(he fell in love with all the chrome on the engines). He will be thirteen this fall. Not too much into models but has a very large collection of diecast and hotwheels. Still take him to carshows too. Richard
  9. Looking good so far. This has been one of my favorite kits for fifty years. Hope you don't mind if I follow along as you build this(and hopefully the other one too). P.S. Back in the day(we know when that was) every kit I built had yellow engines. Just drifting in time..... Richard
  10. No luck on my end. "Tebowmania" runs rampant. Went to Big Five Sportings and they were out everywhere (have a few stores in town). Not brave enough to go to a mall. Getting to old to get out of the way. Might find one after the Rockies start spring training. Richard
  11. If my wife forces me to go out shopping this week I will check too. Richard
  12. The only other thing it needs is an opening trunk. It was afterall the last vette to have a real trunk. Anyone remember the annuals with the metal clip that AMT had for opening and closing the trunk? That would only be fifty years ago. Richard
  13. I have used stainglass paint in the past(over the chrome). It really looks gold. You can get it at any craft store(got my last at a dollar store). Have also used on reflectors, etc. Richard
  14. Ditto on that. I thought I might be the only one left in the world that did not do any of those things. "Grandpa you have to get a cellphone. How can we get in touch with you and grandma when you are out?". Lived without one all these years. Life goes on. Richard
  15. Was going to order some whitewall drag and cheaterslicks from Ma's but sounds like I should forget about it for awhile. Bummer! Richard
  16. Had a 66 Comet back in the day with just enough rake to her that she looked a little like a rumrunner. Her name was "White Lightning" (White with a metalic blue interior, pinstripes, and wheels). Richard
  17. Ditto on that. Richard
  18. Started in 1953(age 8) with planes, ships, tanks, etc. Built first car kit in 1958 and quit the other plastic(Darn you AMT). I think I actually built better models in the 60's than I do now. Had cool ideas on how to customize back then. Now I spend more time looking in boxes than anything else. Have many happy memories though. Richard
  19. That is sad news. Back in the 90's when I lived in Bremerton, my wife and I would make a day of it going to american eagle. We would get on the ferry early in the morning with an empty backpack and then take the bus up north. After filling my pack with three or four months worth of supplies we would then go across the street to dick's for some burgers, fries and the best shake in the northwest. Go back to the waterfront full and happy. Get home in the late afternoon and start saving up for the next trip in a few months. Used to drive down to the one in Tacoma(not near as much fun). I will always have the memories though. Richard
  20. My first "car" kit was a 1959 mercury convertable. I bought it in the fall of 1958 when the new models came out. Before that I built planes, tanks, ships, etc.. It has been nothing but cars, cars, and more cars since then. Richard
  21. My wife doesn't care what I finish(or start) as long as it is something. Last kit finished was in 1990. I guess she has a point. Richard
  22. That engine is a good looking model all by itself. I love it. Richard
  23. She was a blind date that I didn't even want to go on. Pulled up in front of her house and swore I was looking at an angel (still remember the pink dress, blond hair with the sun shining behind her looking like a halo). That was july 1967. Married on Easter Sunday(April 14th) 1968. 42+ years later I can tell you she not only looked like an angel but truly is. Richard
  24. Thank you for leaving the model in it's original form. I tried doing fender flares on one when it first came with index card stock and AMT putty and mine did not look anywhere near as nice as this one. I don't know what he used for material but it sure is nice. Thank you for holding on to a piece of history. Richard
  25. Thank you Zelkam. I spent almost three hours looking at all the pictures. You had some great looking models at the show. As we used to say when I was younger "COOL!". Thought I would let you know that I graduated from high school in Poitiers in 1964(my father was stationed at LaRochelle. Richard
