  1. Super cool project. Gotta be tough finding replacement parts for those things though... I wish my school had an automotive class back when I was in high school. I had to learn on my own, as money allowed, to buy the tools to learn. Kinda wish I went in to automotive instead of I.T.
  2. Very beautifully done. I love the gray coupe too.
  3. Lmao at your avatar Miles... I think that guy is local to Cincy if I remember right.
  4. Thats looking good. I really dig it.
  5. Thanks! I need better tools to do it though. I'm using basic xacto knives, some sanding sticks, zap-a-gap, and sandpaper. no microscope or magnifying glass lol I'm having a hard time progressing on this truck because I keep forgetting I have to send the intake away to the resin caster first instead of painting it and gluing it on my engine. lol
  6. Very cool. That red really stands out. I seen an orange right hand drive VW bug on the way to work today. The fact that your car is RHD reminded me of that. looks like you've cleaned it up quite a bit. Did the product you used for the black trim work well and last long? I've restored black trim on some vehicles using a heat gun.
  7. Thats gorgeous. I think they definitely missed the boat on these. What could have been....

Very cool! I have this same kit... built it many many many years ago probably before I knew what I was doing.
  9. Ah I see... good to know. I would love to see some more of it when its 100%. Just noticed you're in Cincy as well.
  10. Thats a great idea! I wonder if once the white dries, and is cleared, it could have a red marked over it to make a redline (that would actually show up!)
  11. Looks good. Some better pictures and adding a brake booster/master cylinder would bring it over the top.
  12. A couple I can think of are the mtn dew bottles closed real tight after having the lid drilled to the appropriate size and a valve stem pulled thru... those go pop real loud. uhh.. lets see... friend of mine put lighter fluid on a tire changer once. That made a loud boom. I had an orange barrel tied to the back of my '89 Mustang GT once with caution tape. Made it a mile down the road before my friend who did chased me down the road and flashed his lights til I pulled over in a gas station. I couldnt see the barrel swinging back and forth from lane to lane LOL! Came in the next day to work to wonder why the first garage bay door was stuck shut. Apparently when I did my nightly clutch-drop to leave the parking lot after management left, the orange barrel tied to my car swung wide and nailed the 1st and 3rd garage bay doors. They never did figure out what happened.
  13. Funny thing is, I said that to myself because it was so slick... and I wetsanded everything yet still had issues. although some small details are hard to sand. so that could be it. i just have to give it light coats and then wait longer.
  14. I think the General Mayhem is going to pull out of this event this year. I still havent gotten my parts from Mike "a/gass" and I've given up. I may enter another vehicle that I KNOW I have all the parts too.... we'll see.
  15. I have had this kit for years for the same reason. It always looked fiddly to put together. Although I'm going to chop it and hot rod it.
  16. I got an LS engine for this build from Manny @ VCG Resins. So I started to build my LsX intake for it so I can build the Muscle Truck in it's carb'd format. Pretty sweet engine. Looks like it has a 6 speed on the back of it. I'll be sawing that off for an automatic to go on the back though. So I started building an intake out of some styrene strips. I bought some Evergreen 157 a while back to make hot rod frames, and it looked like I could cut some lengths of it and bend it for intake runners. Well that idea didnt pan out so well. So I cut more strips of it and stacked them on themselves and glued them together with some zap. Sat them into the intake valley and glued them together at an angle. I had cut and temporarily glued some strips to the insides of the heads since the actual kit intake is a supercharger. This will simulate the intake side of the head and the beginning of the runners. I am not very good at doing detailed scratch building so I did the best I could. Since my first attempt failed at shaping it I decided to carve it. And that worked out pretty well. I did lots of sanding and carving. This was the first stop I took to take a picture. Lots more sanding and carving later... As you can see I added a carb riser and a carb plate to it. I'll sand the top down just a little so its not as intrusive. Still have to do some more sanding and filling/filing. I also put some injector bosses on the intake as the real lsX intake does.
  17. Not yet. Painting, and painting again all those purple parts. lol I took a few days off of this truck to scratch build an lsX intake for The Muscle Truck which may eventually get casted by a resin caster
  18. Almost looks like you could take a Tall T or a middle door T and make that cabin area. Doesnt Jimmy Flintstone make those bodies?
  19. Thats up to you. I would be very grateful! (In case I screw up the one that my friend is giving me) Oh, and the "Im waiting on parts" wasn't a poke at you. Ruben found a chassis for me that might have a usable front suspension, but I think he may be busy/out of town as I havent heard from him... no biggie because I wasnt in a hurry on this project anyway. Got too many others on the stack to got thru first.
  20. Its easier than you think. But its easier to make it look goofy as well.
  21. No not yet. I have been working on my '55 Chevy truck lately. Waiting on some parts for this one.
  22. I just gotta say... painting colored plastic sucks. I have to give everything multiple coats! I had to paint the engine orange twice, the headers steel twice, the intake aluminum twice... sheesh... I thought this build was going to be fairly quick.
  23. Thats a beautiful looking model.
  24. I kinda want the geo on page 1.... too much fun could be had with that...
