  1. Thanks Fred. Sticking to Burgundy then. I dont really care for the color, but I love it on the '82 GT's!
  2. thats a good looking car. One to be proud of...
  3. So... I decided to wetsand the body once the paint FINALLY dried... wow that took almost a whole day. Wasnt happy about it. So then I resprayed it. It was a beautiful day yesterday, light breeze, low temp and humidity compared to the past few weeks. Perfect for painting. I took my cut open brown bag I've been using, a can of paint to sit the car on, and my color. Sprayed a coat on everything again. Hood fish eyed for no reason. that was no biggie because it was the underside. Body looked just ok. So I let things sit out there to dry while I went back inside to work on other parts. I ate some grapes, watched a few minutes of Magnum P.I. then came back outside to get my stuff. Well... mother nature decided she didnt like the paint job and blew everything over... and this is how I found it. mother nature gave me a custom gold leaf paint job, and a hood stuck to a can... yay. Purple pond here it comes.... So, since that had me at a stand still... I got to thinking how I got ahead of myself when I painted it, and I really wanted it to be a stock looking '82 GT... cant have that without the old 3 piece spoiler or the hood scoop... and MsDano85GT sent me some parts a while back, and among them was a hood scoop. It's a little narrow but it will look great on this kit, and no manufacturer I know of makes the old 3 piece spoiler... so I made one. It needs some tweaking and fine tuning but it will be good enough! not sure when I'll get around to stripping the paint... but I need to find some duplicolor maroon or burgundy first. Or think of another cool 82 GT color...
  4. (stole this pic that someone posted here long ago... thanks google!) Boy what a bad kit... but when I saw it on ebay, I was excited that I found an early 4 eyed Foxbody and snatched it up virtually unopposed. I got the kit, and realized it was very primitive, and suffered from poor molding, but I was determined to make something good out of it. This is also a kit that I kept pushing to the back of the stack, and in my efforts to get em all built, this was my next in line after the barracuda. Anyway, I wasnt going to make a workbench thread about this car because it was that bad... but the other USAirfix thread got me thinking about it. I didnt take a lot of photos until I got the itch to make this car more "stock" than "custom". I wanted to have a stock looking '82 GT, even if it wasnt very detailed, and it was a 4cyl. And of course I wanted to paint it the classic maroon/burgundy that pretty much all 82 GT's I've ever seen have been! I filled a lot of the low spots, and also stuck the nose on it and filed it down to look correct. I cut the side pipes off the chassis, because I was going stock. I cant cut into the chassis to much to remove the molded in exhaust pipes because the chassis isnt very thick. I'm not going to go in to very in depth detail on this chassis anyway. But I did primer it and give it overspray. So thats when I primed and painted the body. First, Rustoleum was a bad Idea. Way too thick. But I tried to make the best of it. Didnt turn out well. Drivers side door and fender under the body molding was doing some cracking/crazing for some reason. No other spot on the car did this. Passenger side looked good!
  5. I also have the katch the kat kit. I've been contemplating how to build it as to show off the sparkle orange plastic, but not let it be see-thru still. I really like the orange, but I have a feeling its going to be hard to pull off and look good.
  6. I build on a fold up table, so no room for multiple things going on....
  7. Agreed. The Custom Mustang I have, has MANY low spots in the body, and some unusual high and distorted spots as well. I did a lot of sanding and filling. Of course, when it fell over on the sidewalk with fresh paint and got a "custom gold leaf" job on it, that didnt make it much better... ugh.
  8. I have the yellow "custom mustang". I'm turning it back in to a stock looking 82 GT. I built the original spoiler and I am using a hood scoop that fits the bill. And painting it the appropriate shade of maroon/burgundy lol
  9. Yep! Never seen a car that was converted to a stick shift on the floor, but they left the column in? I have. Gotta do what you gotta do to go racing! lol
  10. dieseldawg142 sent me some taillights out of sheer kindness and asked for nothing in return. I am very thankful to him for that. Thanks again!
  11. Thanks! Wow somehow I posted the same picture 3 times. Technology is not on my side today. Last shot was a chassis shot. At least after I first posted it

  13. Sheesh... 45mins dealing w/ PC issues, and another 30mins dealing w/ camera issues... Sorry for the low light pictures. The paint on this car really stands out w/ sunlight or a flash. Anyway... I hated how this kit went together especially in the back. Didnt fit properly but couldnt really do anything about it. On to the pictures...
  14. Done and going under glass!
  15. That is too cool
  16. I'll have to check those out. I had a $25 barnes and noble gift card from almost 10 years ago that I finally used like last year, and I learned about Steve McQueen's show... and it was $26 on Barnes and Noble... ordered that sucker and watched all the seasons for the next 6 months lol
  17. I love me some westerns. I didnt as a kid, but as I got older I really began to love and appreciate them. Of course Sergio Leone's "Man with no name" westerns are among the best in my opinion. I wish there were a dozen more. If you like The Rifleman, you should check out Steve McQueen's old series Wanted Dead or Alive. Great show.
  18. I love watching The Rifleman.
  19. Yesterday on my way home from work, I spotted a blue 56-ish Crown Victoria, followed by a pink one. then a '69 Roadrunner, then a '48 Chevy truck, then a couple other older fat fender cars I didnt get a good look at. Musta been some sort of show I missed. I also saw a deer buy it by a fullsize chevy diesel literally right next to me. silly thing ran up to the road, got scared, turned around and ran back towards the fence, did a loop and ran right back toward the road w/ a burst of courage. Well, I knew what he was about to do, and I hit the brakes. Diesel truck didnt see him in time and WHAM! smack dab in the middle of the front end of that truck. Truck parts exploded and went everywhere. Grille, bumper, headlights, you name it! I was on edge yesterday after that!
  20. I know how you feel. As I got older and tastes changed, room and furniture changed. I now no longer have a desk to do building. I set up in my buddy's basement for a while to build when he was in to it again, but that was short lived and I live too far from him to get anything accomplished. I now build on a fold up table in my room, sitting on a milk crate. No serious room on the fold up table, so every time I use a paint it goes right back in to my shoebox that I keep my building supplies in.
  21. Well, white stripes it was. Added some BMF to the turn signal lenses and then added some paint on them. Decals were giving me fits at first because I was getting bubbles under them that I couldnt get out. They didnt want to adhere to the car very well either. But, with this kit being pretty old I almost expected that. However when I got them to dry and blew some clear on them, they turned out pretty well. It's so humid out that the clear was taking a really long time to dry. I was able to handle it a few hours later just enough to throw the grille into it, and the headlights/bumper. My real camera's battery decided to actually take a charge last night, so I'll get some good pictures of it when its finished... probably tonight!
  22. I have a dumb question. I've searched the web for about 20 minutes today to no avail.... does anyone make resin hot rod/deuce/t-bucket windshield frames? I've got a few bodies I'd like to put together once I teach myself how to build frames, and I realized I'm missing a lot of the window frames. I could muster up some clear for the glass, but frames, to me, seem a little harder to come by/build.
  23. Wheels look neat! if they were split spokes, they would look close to the 10th anniversary cobra wheels.
  24. Well, those were just a few mock up pictures. The rear valence and bumper will make the front end go down, because the back end isnt sitting where it should. Also the wheels werent fully pressed on the axles. I noticed those things as well. I'll take care of that hopefully once its done. Of course this makes me now realize I forgot to paint the rear valence.
